I decided to start basically a Supergirl season 6 thread.I was already figuring we may get some news at DC's FanDome event next month but apparently there was a Virtual Wizard World Con in the past few days and several cast members were there.Apparently there was some season 6 news there.TheDCTVshow has a report on it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eL_031LiXNw

The Major news points.

1)Jesse Rath revealed they plan to begin shooting September 28.

DCTVshow speculates that they might do what they did at the start of season 4 where other cast members like Jesse will begin shooting September 28 but Melissa might start a little later.

2)Helen Slater will be in a couple episodes in season 6.

The next bit I'll spoiler highlight since it could be considered a spoiler.

3)
Warning: Spoiler Alert! [Toggle message]
From Jesse Rath:"The writers are working on,not a Legion story but what I think is the essence of what The Legion Of Superheroes is."

DCTVShow speculates he's not expecting Legion members appearing but more the idea of what The Legion is.A team of superheroes coming together. So really Team Supergirl really coming together as a team and becoming the basis of what The Legion becomes in the future.

I think I found the actual panel video.

I have some speculation based off the synopisis for the first two episodes of the season and the EW.com interview with the producers..First I'm going to bring over the relevant parts and then my theory/speculation based off them.

From the episode 1 synopsis.

but Supergirl realizes that the only way to truly stop Lex is to sacrifice herself.

From the episode 2 synopsis.

Meanwhile, Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and the team are faced with a challenge unlike anything they’ve ever dealt with before and it brings Alex (Chyler Leigh) to her breaking point.

From the EW.com interview.

Unfortunately, what Kara does to defeat the megalomanic will have major repercussions on her in the first half of the season — all of which is in service of setting up the Girl of Steel's final journey.

"She is going to really sacrifice her life and put her life on the line to save her friends and humanity," co-showrunner Jessica Queller tells EW. "That challenge, she's going to face her mortality in a way we've never done on the show. That's really the focus of the first run of seven episodes. It's life or death stakes for Kara, and it's very introspective. So, all of the soul searching and taking stock of the past six years will happen in the beginning, and then she'll put it all into play in the second half."

I'm wondering now if Supergirl season 6 could be doing a take on All Star Superman?

For those who are unfamillar,All Star Superman was a 2005-2008 twelve issue limited series by writer Grant Morrison & artist Frank Quitely. It's considered one of the great defining Superman stories and we've seen Supergirl use storylines and elements from Superman before.

It's basically a Death Of Superman story. The gist of the story is that Lex Luthor orchestrates a situation where to save everyone,Superman is forced to absorb a high level of solar radiation. The result is that while it causes him to be even more powerful,it's also slowly killing him.So the setup is that Superman only has one year to live(he keeps this from the public) and the series follows him over that year putting his affairs in order. The comic was adapated into a animated movie a few years ago.

Here's the wiki summary of the series.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All-Star_Superman

Dr. Leo Quintum and his team from P.R.O.J.E.C.T. are exploring the Sun when they are remotely sabotaged by Lex Luthor. Superman rescues them, and acquires the ability to project his bio-electric aura. Luthor orchestrated this event to overwhelm Superman's cells with massive amounts of solar radiation; Quintum determines that Superman's new level of power is also killing him, and that he has one year left to live. Luthor is arrested, thanks to a Daily Planet article by Clark Kent. Superman decides to keep his impending death secret from the public.

However, Superman reveals his secret identity to Lois Lane, because he wants to spend his remaining time with her. Lois initially refuses to believe that Clark and Superman are the same person. For her birthday, Superman takes Lois to the Fortress of Solitude, where they have dinner in a stateroom of the RMS Titanic, which Superman has raised and restored. During this visit, he also tells Lois that she can explore the Fortress save for one room he is constantly checking. Superman's furtive behavior heightens Lois' suspicions and she becomes paranoid. She attacks Superman with a Kryptonite laser, but his enhanced powers have rendered him immune to it.

Superman calms her down and reveals that he was preparing her birthday present in the off-limits room: a liquefied form of his DNA that will grant her all his superpowers for 24 hours, as well as a leotard for her costume. Using the name "Superwoman", she joins Superman as he stops a monster attack in Metropolis involving Samson, Atlas and an Ultra-Sphinx. Superman drives Samson and Altas away and he and Lois spend an eventful day that ends with them kissing on the moon before her powers fade and she falls asleep. Superman flies her back home.

Luthor is convicted of crimes against humanity and sentenced to death. Clark meets with Luthor for an interview at Stryker's Island. Luthor discloses his respect for Clark as a journalist and states that he has no desire to escape as long as he defeats Superman by causing his death. He reveals to Clark that Superman is dying, hoping that it will be published in the Daily Planet.

Nearing death, Superman accomplishes a variety of tasks that significantly help both humans and Kryptonians, and completes his last will and testament. Meanwhile, Luthor survives his execution as he took a serum similar to what Superman made for Lois and escapes. Superman then learns of Luthor's ally Solaris, who has tampered with the sun. Superman engages Solaris until a Sun-Eater that Superman had cared for in the Fortress and subsequently released returns to weaken it. After Solaris destroys the Sun-Eater, Superman defeats Solaris, leaving its body intact because he has learned from the Superman Squad that Solaris will become an ally in the future. Clark returns to the Daily Planet to submit his article but falls dead. As the staff tries to save him, Luthor arrives and attacks Metropolis.

Believing he is on his home planet of Krypton, Superman joins his Kryptonian father Jor-El, who reveals that Superman's body is converting itself to a solar radio-consciousness. He offers him a choice; remain or come back to life. Clark wakes up, and confronts Luthor, firing a gravity gun at him. The gravity gun warps time for Luthor, speeding up the exhaustion of his powers. As his powers fade, Luthor briefly sees the world as Superman sees it, and weeps before Superman knocks him out. Superman and Lois embrace and he proclaims his love for her once and for all. He takes off, flies into the Sun and repairs it, saving the day for one last time. One year later, Lois tells Jimmy that she still believes Superman will return. Inside the sun, Superman, now a solar being, maintains machinery to keep the sun alive. The story concludes with Quintum revealing that if something happens, they will be ready, standing before a door with Superman's characteristic shield, but with its usual "S" replaced with the number "2".

Kal-El himself would one day emerge from his seclusion: he was seen once from countless thousands of years in the future, having evolved into a sort of golden god, meeting with his past self shortly after the death of Jonathan Kent and his masquerade as the Unknown Superman, and shortly before his own "death". The future Superman presented his dying past self with an indestructible golden flower from New Krypton, "For him, from all of us. In remembrance of all that we are. And all that we will be". The flower was planted at Jonathan Kent's grave.

I'm really wondering now based on the synopsis for episodes 1-2 and what the producers say in that interview if they are doing a take on All Star Superman.I'm very mixed on it if they are.On the one hand,it's one of the great Superman stories. On the other hand,it feels too much like Oliver''s end.And after Season 8(which was about Oliver preparing for his end in Crisis much like All Star Superman is Clark preparing for his own death) and the death of Green Arrow,I really don't want Kara to have the same sort of ending.Granted All Star Superman doesn't end with Superman's "death" but transforms him into a solar being powering our sun.IMO it feels the same as death even if there is a sense of hope.I guess I just don't really want that sort of ending for Kara. But I may be wrong about my speculation.W'll start to find out in less then two weeks.

Interesting theory. I could see parts of it being true. I could see them going a different direction with it. I could see Kara finding some similar way to overcharge her powers, for the purpose of overcoming Lex...they already established she can't fly in space, so I don't see them sending her to the sun.

If she does find a way to overcharge on solar radiation, I could see her contracting the same illness as Overgirl...giving her a finite amount of of time to live. I could see her using her powers as a way of exacerbating the condition. Both Kara and Alex saw what happened to Overgirl, and it would put a looming threat over Kara's head.

Yeah,I'm sure it wouldn't be a literal adaptation of All Star Superman but more inspired by it.The broad strokes idea of stopping Lex putting a ticking clock on Supergirl's life forcing Kara and her family & friends having to deal and prepare for that.being the basis of the season.I just feel that it is so much like Oliver's storyline of his final season. The deal he made for his role in Crisis being that ticking clock with Arrow Season 8 being him dealing with it/putting his affairs in order/preparing for his eventual fate in Crisis and that end coming in Crisis.

IMO doing a take on All Star Superman for Supergirl's final season feels like Arrow's final season(without the benefit of crossovers due to COVID-19 restrictions. So no goodbye with Clark,Barry or Sara which I think should be a part of this sort of storyline especially regarding Clark & Barry.I would say Kate too but due the Batwoman situation,it would be out anyway.Unless it's off-screen like Black Lightning just recently did with The Flash which I would find un-satisfying in this circumstance) and I would really hate if the second of the Trinty met the same sort of fate as the first(Green Arrow,The Flash & Supergirl are the Arrowverse's Trinity).

I guess we'll start to have a idea soon.Hopfully the end of the series isn't Supergirl's "death." like Oliver or Clark's kind of death in All Star Superman.I guess maybe a twist could be to end the series with Kara being sent to the 31th Century and the Legion(Supergirl joining the Legion in the future has been done in various continuities in the comics and even the Justice League animated series I think) where there is a cure.It could be a way to bring Mon-El back for the end run of the series.Brainy could go with Kara. For some reason,I feel like Nia would stay in the present especially with a decendent in the Legion. It would also give a emotional end to the Danvers sisters story if Alex has to say goodbye to her sister(because I'm calling it now that Alex & Kelly are going to adopt a child this season so if Kara has to go to the future,Alex would stay in the present with Kelly and their child).Plus it would leave the door open for any future guest appearances on other Arrowverse shows down the line if Melissa is open.

I'm probably waaaaay wrong about all this though.lol

Yeah, I'm really curious what this "sacrifice" will be, and how it will impact Kara's sense of mortality, moving forward in the season.

Real-world political and social issues have inspired Supergirl's last two seasons and that will remain the case in the forthcoming run, especially in the back half of season 6 as the show turns its attention to power. Following the destruction of the DEO last year, the Superfriends must figure out how to superhero responsibility now that they're operating without government oversight (you know, with great powers comes etc...).

Sacrifices of Supergirl or not...this WORRIES me. Although season 5 IMHO, except for one or two episodes, basically held the line on politics.

But now given the current scenario with the left in control (by hook and by crook and bolstered by a cowardly judiciary and big money elites selling out to China) this to me will be a victory lap for the show given the results they have gotten...then again Warners is one of the Hollywood studios financed by the People's Republic of China.

I still have that rancid, sour, bitter taste in my mouth over season 4 and their attack on conservatives, libertarians, old school liberals, talk radio and al-media (namely Infowars, Breitbart, Newsmax, One America News, etc.).

After 6 years of joy and eventually anger and disappointment, I am happy and sad to see this show go...

Sad...because it's the culmination of a dream of mine to have Supergirl on TV and have it turn out to be more successful than Wonder Woman with Lynda Carter or other female superhero TV shows, perhaps put together (Black Scorpion or Sheena ring any bells?).

Happy...because I won't have to suffer through the woke communist propaganda and politics when this show's final sign-off happens.

On the other hand...having be sans government oversight might give Team Kara and company more freedoms to handle crime and such...and I do not mean like The Crows on Batwoman who are making Gotham into a further police state.

(exhausted)

Now...given SG's going to be on Tuesday at 9, one can assume The Flash will lead in...which to me would've been my dream line-up. The two most hopeful superheroes on TV on a night when people might still have a slight case of the Mondays. And it would give a whole new meaning to Super Tuesday...not that Flash and Superman and Lois are doing that at the moment of course.

Well,it looks like from the trailer that something kryptonite related(kryptonite poisoning?) befalls Supergirl.I'm still on my All Star Superman speculation theory for this season so I can see two ways to connect that to my theory.

1)Kara is suffering from kryptonite poisoning putting the ticking clock on her life for the season(unlike Ryan Wilder over on Batwoman,Kara could probably last a bit longer due to her kryptonian physiology).

2)Kara suffering from kryptonite poisoning needs a cure that also puts a ticking clock on her life.Could go full All Star Superman and have her need to get over exposed to solar radiation to cure her which does(and may give even a power boost) but like in the comic with Superman, that will slowly kill her too.

Nia screaming is definitely to Brainy.

You know, since the Fortress looks to get trashed in the premiere, and since timeline wise, this episode seems to be set immediately after the season 5 finale, they actually have a good in story reason for The Fortress looking different in Superman & Lois.I mean the Fortress gets destroyed and rebuilt slightly different all the time in the comics.Sometimes the location even changes too.

The CW trailer is longer.

Lex gets superpowers again.

Lena decks Lex.

Lots more footage.

Hello, yes, hi. I’ve missed #Supergirl so much and the Season 6 premiere refocuses on the important relationships that have made this show so compelling in the past. It’s a big Lena episode, so naturally I was on the floor and I can’t wait to screech about it Sparkles

Also another person who saw a screener of the premiere indicates that things aren't looking good for Kara in this episode.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-w8cC4mQsI

One of the reviewers, Jay, who got a screener said what happens to Kara is worse than he ever thought it would be. So...…

https://www.reddit.com/r/supergirlTV/comments/mb4tux/two_positive_s6_premiere_reviews_from_screeners/

You mean Jay's tweets? I'm a little concerned by what he said concerning Kara's sacrifice being worse than anything we imagined, but mostly because I'm expecting it to be a dumb idea that's badly executed.

And he said the bench scene has been cut

That is a good question, and the very final moments of this Tuesday’s long-delayed final season premiere appear to reveal the understandably unspoiled answer. (In my surprise, I may have uttered an expletive.) P.S. Fans of Cat Grant should be pleased with the cover story used to account for Kara’s absence from CatCo’s bustling newsroom during the premiere.

I’m all for Kara having a quarter life crisis and contemplating her mortality and what she wants.

Of the many ways the series could end I would be truly disappointed if ends with Kara’s death. This is a show with an underlying theme of hope and to date no non villain has died heck, compared to other shows there’s been hardly any deaths.

Jessica Queller’s being cagey and of coarse wants to keep things under wraps. I would think logistically Chris would be an easy guest star. I assume he moved to Vancouver with Melissa and their son, by extension he’s already in the shows COVID “bubble”.

According to The DC TV,Show Zor-El will make his first appearance in episode 2 .Claude Knowlton will also first appear in episode 2.According to The DCTV Show,Otis is appearing in episode 1 and 2.

Regarding the TVLine comments about Mon-El.

Yeah,Chris would be the easiest guest star since he's up there with Melissa and I don't think he has any other projects lined up.But also agree, they wouldn't give that info up this early before the series ends.I am glad they are planning for some returning faces though.

So, I'm not absent from the first part of the season, but I'm in a different place. Supergirl is quite isolated.

I think that is another clue Kara is trapped in the Phantom Zone.

Sounds like Melissa is happy that they've now moved passed the Kara & Lena season 5 storyline.

Interesting that the showrunners asked for Melissa's imput on where Kara is at the end of the series.Very curious about what her one request was.

and it wasn't even something they were thinking about doing.
