I decided to start basically a Supergirl season 6 thread.I was already figuring we may get some news at DC's FanDome event next month but apparently there was a Virtual Wizard World Con in the past few days and several cast members were there.Apparently there was some season 6 news there.TheDCTVshow has a report on it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eL_031LiXNw

The Major news points.

1)Jesse Rath revealed they plan to begin shooting September 28.

DCTVshow speculates that they might do what they did at the start of season 4 where other cast members like Jesse will begin shooting September 28 but Melissa might start a little later.

2)Helen Slater will be in a couple episodes in season 6.

The next bit I'll spoiler highlight since it could be considered a spoiler.

3)
Warning: Spoiler Alert! [Toggle message]
From Jesse Rath:"The writers are working on,not a Legion story but what I think is the essence of what The Legion Of Superheroes is."

DCTVShow speculates he's not expecting Legion members appearing but more the idea of what The Legion is.A team of superheroes coming together. So really Team Supergirl really coming together as a team and becoming the basis of what The Legion becomes in the future.

ETA

I think I found the actual panel video.

Well, Melissa can’t pose for a new poster right now and fans tend to not like reused and photoshopped ones. With the lead unavailable who would you have preferred. Perhaps Chyler and David were unavailable. It could be that Nicole was just the most available but I know some think Dreamer is too powerful. BTW Grant didn’t do the poster they released for Flash, Candice did. They tend to want to show off new suits in these pre-season posters so that could be another reason for the leads not doing them and not reusing last years. Grant just hasn’t had the fittings.

I'm well aware of the Iris poster. They both exemplify my primary frustrations with these two shows.

It isn't Dreamer that upsets me--nor Iris. (And I think rather highly of Nichole and Candice as well.) Honestly, it's the lack of commitment to the title characters. At this point, it's downright painful; this just rubs salt in the wound.

If the reason was Melissa and Grant not being available for new shots, I'd rather they had done either nothing or a teaser with a logo--until they could do something with the leads.

16 episodes is perfectly fine with me, as long as they are Kara/Supergirl heavy, with lots of Supergirl action. If it is an episode of the week for each character like they like to do, then no thanks, that would leave about 5 episodes for Supergirl.....but 16 Eps of Supergirl heavy episodes would be more than any other season.....lol

Chyler Leigh will be directing a young Danvers Sisters episode which is 6x06. Izabella and Olivia are in Vancouver. YVR Shoots have posted the production list and Chyler is listed for this week.

And just like that, 6x06 became my most anticipated episode of the season. :)

David Ramsey is returning as Arrow's John Diggle on Supergirl in a episode this season. He will also be directing for Supergirl as well as well as appearing/directing episodes of The Flash,DC Legends Of Tomorrow,Batwoman and Superman & Lois.

I wonder if his mystery role of Legends is as Green Lantern as set up in the Arrow finale.Very excited to hear about Ramsey's return as Diggle and him directing.I bet he's not doing Black Lightning due to it shooting in Atlanta.

Good for him! I hope it turns into something more permanent--should he wish it. He was a real pro throughout Arrow's run; I enjoyed his character and his performance.

Real-world political and social issues have inspired Supergirl's last two seasons and that will remain the case in the forthcoming run, especially in the back half of season 6 as the show turns its attention to power. Following the destruction of the DEO last year, the Superfriends must figure out how to superhero responsibility now that they're operating without government oversight (you know, with great powers comes etc...).

Sacrifices of Supergirl or not...this WORRIES me. Although season 5 IMHO, except for one or two episodes, basically held the line on politics.

But now given the current scenario with the left in control (by hook and by crook and bolstered by a cowardly judiciary and big money elites selling out to China) this to me will be a victory lap for the show given the results they have gotten...then again Warners is one of the Hollywood studios financed by the People's Republic of China.

I still have that rancid, sour, bitter taste in my mouth over season 4 and their attack on conservatives, libertarians, old school liberals, talk radio and al-media (namely Infowars, Breitbart, Newsmax, One America News, etc.).

After 6 years of joy and eventually anger and disappointment, I am happy and sad to see this show go...

Sad...because it's the culmination of a dream of mine to have Supergirl on TV and have it turn out to be more successful than Wonder Woman with Lynda Carter or other female superhero TV shows, perhaps put together (Black Scorpion or Sheena ring any bells?).

Happy...because I won't have to suffer through the woke communist propaganda and politics when this show's final sign-off happens.

On the other hand...having be sans government oversight might give Team Kara and company more freedoms to handle crime and such...and I do not mean like The Crows on Batwoman who are making Gotham into a further police state.

(exhausted)

Now...given SG's going to be on Tuesday at 9, one can assume The Flash will lead in...which to me would've been my dream line-up. The two most hopeful superheroes on TV on a night when people might still have a slight case of the Mondays. And it would give a whole new meaning to Super Tuesday...not that Flash and Superman and Lois are doing that at the moment of course.

Also, it's not much compared to the pros. But here are a few photos from when I was able to get on set at the park, the other day.

Has Jon Cryer been upgraded to series regular on Supergirl? –Brian

Though Cryer is not a series regular for the CW drama’s farewell run, I am hearing that, following a brief, upcoming absence, Lex will again loom large in the back half of the season.

I, for one, think Lillian Luthor is sublime and always a welcome presence onscreen. I think many will be in agreement.

I, too, think Brenda is great in the role.

I took note that she gave Lex pause when she brought up his father. :o Hoping that leads to a revelation or two.

Will Mxy return for season 6?

I know they are! Thomas Lennon was present when I was on set, last week. There should be some pics earlier in this thread!

Speaking of...I was filming a student project, when someone walked by, putting out these notices. Looks like I may be able to get into another Supergirl set, next week!

If the baby comes in the next 2 weeks that would give Melissa a 6 week maternity leave... not very long but fairly standard in the regular working world.

Odd panel selection. I like them, but I would have expected more from the current regular lineup.

LOL you beat me to this. We know that on the Coffee Live IG video Melissa did on July 7th she said she was only weeks away. It’s possible in the time between the two videos she’s had the baby and they just haven’t made a public announcement. But even if that’s the case if she’s expected back at the end of September that’s not much of a maternity leave. They could be planning to start without Melissa like they did in season 4 but why would they do that given the shows “mid-season” primer.

When Supergirl was moved to “mid-season” the reasoning given made sense, production could start later which would give Melissa more recovery time. With what Jesse said it now seems they plan to start production around same time as the “fall” shows. Admins any information you can give us on production plans.

Someone in a FB group i’m in posted the video and summarized. I don’t generally get much out of panels so I haven’t watched. I’m still scratching my head as to why they wouldn’t go with a later start date to avoid Melissa being out and the added bonus of having the other shows work out the kinks in the new Coronavirus production protocols.

In the absence of a resolution of the coronavirus threat, predictions that shooting will start on some date are to be taken perhaps *** grano salis. On the same line, one hopes that the lead actress is doing well.

This. Lack of focus on the leads is my primary focus on both series. I'd MUCH rather get re-used images of both Flash and Supergirl, or just banners, instead of throwing banners of other characters out as the ONLY new poster release.

If they had released a series of posters (even if they had to use reused images) so there were images of the leads AND other characters, I'm totally down for that. But right now, it's totally just salting the wound.

I feel the same way when they promote Batwoman season 1 when they are completely abandoning that character altogether.
