Re: The Flash 5 crossover episodes.

It would be great if Melissa could appear in one if those Flash episodes. Logistically, based on the preseumed scheduling, Stargirl should complete its run at the end if October and Supergirl will have two episodes left. It would be awesome if The Flash could start its new season with an appearance by Melissa to air before the Supergirl finale. Too much to hope for... but I am anyway... lol!

Having Cress and Melissa will make up for the missed crossover this season.

It is like we are getting two abbreviated seasons of Supergirl, as the finale will air in November sweeps if the 2021-22 season unless they plan to double up on episodes.

That's what I was thinking. Supergirl's final season wraps filming on August 6th, according to the schedule. The Flash is due to start it's 8th season filming in September. It obviously depends on the showrunners and Melissa's willingness to return. People still need to quarantine for 2 weeks when they come to B.C. from the States. BUT...if Melissa and any Supergirl cast members were willing to live in Vancouver just a month longer, until The Flash starts filming, it's entirely feasible for Supergirl to be part of one of those "Event" episodes.

Honestly, Barry has more of a connection to Kara than Superman, Batwoman (either one), the current Legends cast, or Black Lightning. So I REALLY hope she can be part of one of these episodes. These characters deserve to have one more adventure, together.

I'm imagining Stargirl may be likely to be part of one of these crossovers. The fact that Jay Garrick is appearing in both The Flash season 7 and Stargirl season 2 makes me think these shows have a strong chance of connecting.

There is the possible scenario that they will try to use one of these "Event Episodes" to introduce Naomi, as well. But I honestly hope not. Lets let that character get introduced in her own show, first, and see if the show can support itself, before taking a precious crossover slot.

CBR has a great article arguing why Supergirl should/needs to be a part of The Flash Season 8 five episode opening event as a final team-up between Kara & Barry.

https://www.cbr.com/the-flash-supergirl-final-arrowverse-crossover/

I agree with many of their points. We'll see if it happens.I'm not getting my hopes up.I rather prepare for it to not happen and be surprised if it does.Sort of like with Cress Williams.I thought there was no way in hell we would see Black Lightning post series in a crossover/event and was pleasantly surprised right after the series finale aired that he revealed he has been in talks for a while to guest star on The Flash next season(I assume probably for this five episode event).

Not really speculation related, but this thread seems to have become our "misc. thread" for general musings.

I thought this was interesting. Laura Vandervoort recently did Michael Rosenbaum's podcast. It was only very brief, but they touched base about Laura's role as Indigo, back in season 1. She wouldn't really get into it, but it sounds like she didn't really have a positive experience. Genuinely makes me curious, because we've generally only heard good things about guests' on set experience. The red flags usually come later when the more extreme segments of the fandom bash certain guest stars.

Anyway, I just found that interesting. I know Erica Durance was also on Rosenbaum's podcast back in December. He asked about her time, and she said that it felt very much like the old Smallville set, only with different cast and crew, and everyone was nice, and in particularly spoke of how nice Melissa was. Her only "negative" was that she felt like, as a non regular, she was intruding in their space.

Genuinely makes me curious about Laura's experience. I mean...season 1 had different crew, different showrunners. And by the nature of her role, the person she interacted most with was the guy who played Non. We never know, but I really hope that whatever caused the experience was left behind when the show changed locations and networks in season 2, and that none of the cast and crew we've come to care about was the cause of such a thing.

Really nice to know that Helen Slater is on her way to Vancouver for the Supergirl Finale (per her Instagram post, https://www.instagram.com/p/CREspaTMcEM/). One of things I wished for from the Series Finale was that Helen would be a part of it and it makes me happy that this will happen :) :) :) .

Now my hope is that there's at least one scene with just Melissa and Helen, perhaps Eliza can impart some motherly wisdom to Kara.

Very happy to hear. She said last summer that she was going to appear in season 6 but I figured it would of been earlier like for the Midvale two parter.Glad she'll be apart of the series finale.

I am glad to hear Helen will return. It was very disappointing that Eliza was not part of the Prom episodes... it really made no sense for her not be in them... perhaps scheduling conflicts or Covid restrictions. The same for Alura (Erica Durance) not being part of the Phantom Zone arc... made no sense as she was the character with the most PZ knowledge. I enjoyed the first 7 episodes but Eliza's and Alura's absence seemed like major misteps and took away from them.

Knowing this was coming means it’s not a shock but doesn’t do anything to diminish the sadness. The show ending is going to be an exercise in going through the stages of grief, minus denial. Taking comfort in knowing it’s getting a planned ending, not every TV show does. :(

Agreed.

I still wish we got a 7th season, just so the final season wasn't hindered by COVID, so Kara could have had a proper final interaction with her friends outside of the Supergirl cast. Based on Melissa's "saying goodbye to this glyph" post, I'm honestly not that confident she'll be back for Flash's event episodes. I want it...but I'm not confident it will happen.

DCTV has a bad habit of spouting speculation as news.

In reality, airing the last two together was the only option, based on the premiere date, finale date, and number of episodes left in-between.

Stargirl will air it's final season 2 episode on November 2nd, in it's paired slot with Supergirl. Then, on November 9th, Supergirl will air it's last two episodes, using both it's and Stargirl's slot.

Then, The Flash will premiere a week later, on November 16th.

Mel for Entertainment Weekly:

I don't think it would've been a right goodbye if the people who came back hadn't come back, so I'm very grateful that they did. It's always difficult to get that many people back in the same place, especially in the pandemic, so I'm really glad it worked out that way."

She continued: "Story-wise, it's really lovely the capacity in which all the characters return."

Glad to see that I'm not the only one who thinks the Lena witch story is stupid. Is it just me or didn't Katie McGrath also not give a single interview on the storyline yet? Even though that is supposed to be Lena's big revelation about her mother? Me thinks the actors probably think the storyline is stupid as hell as well if they are not even trying to spin it.
