I thought that it might be nice to have one place to discuss the character of Reign as we progress through this season. While I'm a bit sad about the character turning evil, I am very eager to see the extent that the writers will go with the villain. She has the possibility of being quite the formidable foe for Supergirl.

Perhaps we can start with some facts about her that we know at the moment and add to the list as we find out more details.

I'll start a list and I can add to it later. Even though the character exists in the comics, I thought that it might be better to keep those facts off the list until they present themselves as we're not sure what aspects the writers will use from her comic book counterpart. But, feel free to discuss any aspect of the character.

We now know the name of Reign's first recruit for her army.
Purity - based on what Reign told Kara about the belief that the world needed cleansing and that it had fallen into sin, the name Purity seems appropriate for a World Killer. They are, after all, the instruments used to rid these things from the earth.

I wonder if the writers are going with some type of a Greek God/Christianity mixed approach in the naming of the World Killers and their belief system.

We now know the name of her compatriots as the priestess said, The Power, The Pestilence, and The Purity. Although I wonder if 'the Power' refers to Reign or not. Kara seemed to think it did. I wonder who they have cast for Pestilence though.

I think that Reign is going to be so busy trying to reign (sorry :D ) in her army that she won't be participating in any personal attacks in the near future.

From what I have been able to tell, Reign doesn't remember anything of her experience being Sam, just as Sam doesn't remember anything of Reign. And it appears as though there is a trigger to her switch that is related to her seeing someone who needs the strong arm of justice put to them. But, I suppose if Alex tries to take blood, that could possibly provoke a trigger. Would be interesting to see Alex fending off Reign with a crutch :D

No, in this last episode she talks about the Human inside her is much stronger than she realized....she knows Sam exists inside of her.

Yeah, I found it interesting that Reign referred to Sam as this "human" inside of me.

I don't think they are cognitive of each other at all, at least not at the moment...and it seems that seeing enemies, or people that need to be taken care of triggers Reign, whereas it looks like it is Ruby that triggers Sam.

However, with that theory... somehow Reign knows to get dressed in Sam's clothes, again...as well as, hide her costume underneath. And, as was the case this past Monday, knew to pick up Ruby from Alex's. Or, as has been the case in previous episodes, knows to drive/fly back home after being "done" with her Reigny tasks.

The Reign outfit under Sam's clothes at work bothers me a lot. So are we expected to believe that every time Sam changes clothes/goes to the bathroom Reign erases her mind about seeing the Reign outfit under her clothes? Maybe I'm over thinking this.
No, I don't think you're overthinking it at all. It's a plot hole that I just try to not think about, lol.

Yeah, I was thinking they weren't under her clothes, that like in the new Supergirl novelette she stashed them places like Kara would do, until we got the shirt rip....and then I was like....What the heck?

People perform all kinds of complex actions under hypnosis, and then have no memory of doing them.

I think that's what the Fortress AI is for, to induce "post-hypnotic suggestions" that cover up Reign's activities while Sam is in control, allowing her a "hiding place" till all the pieces are in place for conquering Earth.
OMG, I think you’ve got it. That would explain almost everything, certainly enough for a TV show. So that would mean as the other Worldkillers awaken Reign would take over permanently.
LOL. Look at us, trying to piece together some of our own rationale explanations for these gaps in logic because the writing doesn't do so.

Well, even though I'm wary of it being true because of past experiences with the writing, I really do hope that you're right on this one, Kenletwo.

I really think that Reign will end up a tragic figure. It makes for high drama and will grab us by the heartstrings. I believe Ruby will play a crucial role in this tragedy, and who knows, but Psi may make an appearance to move this along.

Furthermore, I wonder if the Legion’s real mission is to deal with the World Killers.

Just some ideas,

Psi was effective against Reign, so having her involved more in battles would definitely make sense. I suppose they don't know if they can thoroughly trust her but, on the other hand, they trusted her enough to take her to Fort Rozz when Kara didn't have any powers so, I don't know why they couldn't now.

@Argo I agree the Legion’s real mission involves the Worldkillers. My current theory is Imra or B5 found out Kara died in the final battle but Reign still left for a time. I think the extinction Mon-El referred to is the Worldkillers return. Imra and B5 had to hide the information from Mon-El to keep him calm so they can save Kara and the future.

@Sully a strong psychic will definitely be a help but we’re all forgetting one psychic that unlike Psi is completely trustworthy, M’yrnn. Given his place in Martian society and his imprisonment M’yrnn is likely a stronger psychic than his son. I for one wouldn’t have an issue if the show said that as a psychic M’yrnn can do things that J’onn can’t. J’onn would try to talk his father out of getting involved but like Cat last season M’yrnn should be allowed to choose.

With the Freddy Kruger reference in the last episode and the idea that Reign has been waiting in an alternate, dream-like world, I was thinking that they might go the route of killing off Reign (the Kruger character parallel) while she was in that alternate reality. Since she and Sam have actually two different humanoid forms in that reality, it would be an opportunity to eliminate Reign and still save Sam. I think Kara goes into that reality in the next episode and if so, all of the elements to put together that kind of attack would be in play.

Every tv big bad always hurts the hero in an emotional way. And hard. Astra ruined her vision of her own mother. Rhea took away Mon-El. Reverse Flash killed Barry's mom. Zoom killed his father. Savitar made him see Iris be killed. And so on and that makes me wonder what Reign is going to do, but my best guess is to kill Eliza.

So obviously too early to tell about what their mission is, but the next week teaser for 'wake up' all but confirmed the pod in the ocean is the Legion. Mon el has a beard, and he's back in deo Containment, saying he needs Kara to listen to him.

Im calling it. The Legion are here for Sam.

I cant wait for episode 7, not only for Mon-El, but based on my calculations Sam will become Reign that episode! Since that she wont be in episode 8 and obviously was not in episode 6 and in episode 9 Reign and Supergirl face off she will be Reign or at least become Reign in episode 7. And that makes perfect sense because in the bio/description it says that Sam will reach out to her estranged mother! I think that she will have the answers to provide Sam with.

I'm not up to speed with the Legion and their connection to Reign. How are they aware that Reign exists? Also, I have seen references to Mon-El coming back from the future. Where does that idea stem from?

In comics, Mon-El eventually traveled to the future, and wound up working with the superheroes of that time, known as the Legion of Superheroes. Saturn Girl is one of them, and she's part of the cast of next episode.

People have speculated this since Mon-El's ship went into a wormhole at the end of last season, that he wound up in the future with the Legion.

So, then they would know Reign because they are from the future. Does the Legion not exist in Supergirl's present day?

So, after the"Wake Up" episode, we find out a few details:

Sam was a teenager when she had Ruby.
Sam's mother (I can't remember her name??) didn't want Sam to carry Ruby; the two had a falling out and they became estranged.
Sam's mom found Sam in the pod and most likely knew that she was an alien but, didn't tell Sam.

Reign is a World Killer and has been switched on after a hologram communication with a scientist (??) from Krypton.
We see Reign's Fortress of Sanctuary and that it is in a desert somewhere. (Was that California? Not sure that Vancouver has any deserts ;)).

So, a question that I have is, was the hologram supposed to be a living being? How was it able to actually converse with Sam?

Initially, I was a bit let down with how easily and quickly Sam converted into Reign but, after thinking about it, it is logically probably for the best. Time-wise, the writers needed to get the story pushed into high gear. Plus, perhaps they wanted to show the viewer that Sam's transformation can be turned off and on quickly and that maybe the Sam persona will be switched back for her trip back home. Or, on the other end, maybe it was to let us know that the persona of Sam was really only a flimsy facade that has now been completely shed:)

Very excited to see Reign and Supergirl!

I think the idea of Sam as a facade will be the thing that the evil scientists were hoping for, but will be proven wrong. I want her to fight this. And fight this hard, and for us to see parts of her fighting it throughout the season.

Moral quandary for Kara. Can she punch someone whose being brainwashed to commit terrible acts?

Im wondering how reign will react to ruby. It's possible she'll just ignore her, but I have a feeling that she'll hate her, seeing her as the annoying little creature that delayed her awakening.
Yeah, not sure that we will see any type of sympathy or real love from Reign toward Ruby. But, I wonder if she will view Ruby as a possible protégé, having the World Killer genes within her, and be protective of her in that role.

Yeah in the video it was shown that Ruby was still present in the household once Reign had returned 'home'. I have this fear that Reign will trick Ruby somehow telling her that she's going to take a fun drive n the desert but really try to take her to the fortress to see if she could be activated too.

(Or at the least take guardianship of her until she turns 18 then take her to the desert to try to see about the activation)

But if anyone will figure out that theres something wrong/off about Reign it will be Ruby since she's very close to her mom and would be able to tell if Reign was pretending to be Sam.
