I decided to start basically a Supergirl season 6 thread.I was already figuring we may get some news at DC's FanDome event next month but apparently there was a Virtual Wizard World Con in the past few days and several cast members were there.Apparently there was some season 6 news there.TheDCTVshow has a report on it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eL_031LiXNw

The Major news points.

1)Jesse Rath revealed they plan to begin shooting September 28.

DCTVshow speculates that they might do what they did at the start of season 4 where other cast members like Jesse will begin shooting September 28 but Melissa might start a little later.

2)Helen Slater will be in a couple episodes in season 6.

The next bit I'll spoiler highlight since it could be considered a spoiler.

3)
Warning: Spoiler Alert! [Toggle message]
From Jesse Rath:"The writers are working on,not a Legion story but what I think is the essence of what The Legion Of Superheroes is."

DCTVShow speculates he's not expecting Legion members appearing but more the idea of what The Legion is.A team of superheroes coming together. So really Team Supergirl really coming together as a team and becoming the basis of what The Legion becomes in the future.

ETA

I think I found the actual panel video.

Well, Melissa can’t pose for a new poster right now and fans tend to not like reused and photoshopped ones. With the lead unavailable who would you have preferred. Perhaps Chyler and David were unavailable. It could be that Nicole was just the most available but I know some think Dreamer is too powerful. BTW Grant didn’t do the poster they released for Flash, Candice did. They tend to want to show off new suits in these pre-season posters so that could be another reason for the leads not doing them and not reusing last years. Grant just hasn’t had the fittings.

I'm well aware of the Iris poster. They both exemplify my primary frustrations with these two shows.

It isn't Dreamer that upsets me--nor Iris. (And I think rather highly of Nichole and Candice as well.) Honestly, it's the lack of commitment to the title characters. At this point, it's downright painful; this just rubs salt in the wound.

If the reason was Melissa and Grant not being available for new shots, I'd rather they had done either nothing or a teaser with a logo--until they could do something with the leads.

In the absence of a resolution of the coronavirus threat, predictions that shooting will start on some date are to be taken perhaps *** grano salis. On the same line, one hopes that the lead actress is doing well.

This. Lack of focus on the leads is my primary focus on both series. I'd MUCH rather get re-used images of both Flash and Supergirl, or just banners, instead of throwing banners of other characters out as the ONLY new poster release.

If they had released a series of posters (even if they had to use reused images) so there were images of the leads AND other characters, I'm totally down for that. But right now, it's totally just salting the wound.

I feel the same way when they promote Batwoman season 1 when they are completely abandoning that character altogether.

I suspect there are numerous stock stills of Melissa that fans have not seen that with the comic backdrop and photo effects would look fresh and new. That is unless we are getting a new suit variation in S6.

I'd honestly be okay with this, lol. I don't hate a suit with pants, but something about the season 5 suit looked super frumpy, IMO.

To me, the problem is just too much blue and not enough color separation. To try and rectify that, I'd lower the S shield a bit lower, to where it was on the original costume. I'd then lower the neckline, to be about 2" above the top of the new S shield location, as the current neckline seems disproportionately wide and high. I also don't like how they have that weird piping extending from the seam of the arm over her shoulders, like odd looking pauldrons. I'd also add some sort of red wrap, around the waist, which is open in the front. By doing this, I feel they can use the shield to fill some of that empty blue canvas they've created with this costume.

Though, full honesty, I wish the Overgirl design from Earth X could be adapted to a Supergirl suit. She may have been evil, but that suit looked amazing.

What's interesting about the Dreamer poster and the one The Flash put out featuring Iris is that the backround shows the character's comic book counterpart. In Dreamer's case,it's actually her descendant from The Legion Of Superheroes who of course has been referenced on the show via Brainy and Winn.

I think the new Dreamer poster is actually a quite clever play on her powers... She's seen the future, season 6 is coming... I like it.

I also think it's clever, but as the lead off promotional poster, I feel it is yet another case of diminishing Kara.

If it hadn't been an ongoing concern, I wouldn't mind as much. :)

I'm not happy about the new Dreamer poster for Season 6. Why in the world would they release that as the first poster? It even makes it look like Dreamer is Supergirl with the Supergirl logo under it. Ugh. I don't mind Dreamer, but the show is supposed to be about Supergirl.

And pretty in part due to fan demand they’ve released a poster with Supergirl using a old picture of Melissa.

I'm totally alright with a poster using a pose from last season. At least helps keep us satiated until Melissa returns to the fold for production and new promos.

I like the poster, they put a picture of Melissa in front of a montage of comic book Supergirls. I do wish they would’ve added her motto as a tagline. They had no option about using an old picture and this one is a good choice. Someone on FB said that’s Nural Nal/Dream Girl behind Nia because Nia’s not in the comics. I don’t doubt that whoever came up with that tagline for Nia wanted to get it out ASAP. Things are not well at DC and I’m sure everyone in the promotions department is fighting for their jobs. There’s probably a lot of pressure to get something, anything out there. I thought the season four poster was fantastic and there have been others featuring the lead that I’ve liked.

Hopefully they do something really cool with Melissa once she’s available.

I have absolutely no problem with the pic they used. I love the pic. BUT, not making the first official poster of a show someone other than your #1, is poor promotion. Also, Supergirl should have been at the top of Dreamers poster, and Dreamer at the bottom.
I agree that it would’ve been better to release these posters in the opposite order or at the same time. The promotion department made a mistake. It’s a cold comfort but they made the exact same mistake with Flash so at least it’s not a Supergirl is being treated worse situation.

At least they haven't put out a similar poster for Batwoman featuring Ruby Rose. Now THAT would be in poor taste.

I'll agree with your sentiment but to very lightly paraphrase Edna Mode, "NO PANTS!" (And that's all I'll say on that subject since I know many are very sensitive about this subject)

The current look just doesn't work and the cape with clasps, onesie get-up, and hairstyle don't gel properly. I understand the reasoning behind why they did the change-up for S5, but visually speaking, it's a massive dud.

Pants are OK if used for a different iteration/version of the character (i.e. animated feature or from the get-go in a live action film) but not for a character that has already been established with a certain look and feel. It's the equivalent of taking a BMW and adding a Trabant/Lada engine to the mix.

I agree, the pants, no pants issue is very sensitive so I will keep my remarks short. Melissa is going to have a lot of work ahead of her if she's going to fit into those pants. I have no doubt that she's up to the task but it may take months to tone up. I'm just saying.;)

I still can't help to think they chose to release supporting cast posters because they may tweak the suits of the primary characters ( Supergirl, Flash). The Flash suit changes regularly. Supergirl held steady for 4 years, but may be getting a second makeover.

PLEASE a second makeover. I can deal with pants, but they could make it so much better.

The pants don't bother me. I thought her original suit was best but I am ok with change. Considering the suit is nanobot technology, it seems they could incorporate various settings with different super suit variations for different occasions. This could potentially satisfy the broadest spectrum of fans while not forcing Melissa into skirts on the colder days. Hopefully we will start to get new season info in the upcoming months.

The pants aren't going anywhere....

I agree. I merely wanted to express how I didn't like the fit or aesthetic of THIS particular suit with pants. For that reason, I wouldn't mind another upgrade/modification.

TheDCTVSHOws is hearing from according to them, reilable sources, that Supergirl is aiming for 16 episodes for season 6.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fq8yuE4oYKM

Sounds like a reasonable number. Time will tell how reliable the sources are. ;)

I'm pretty happy with 16 episodes if that is accurate.

It’s interesting that Flash is suppose to have 17 and they’ve got a lot more of last seasons plot to finish than Supergirl. When the network President said full 20+ episode seasons last May I thought that was optimistic at best. Supergirl isn’t winding up starting later than the other shows I don’t think anyone thought that would happen. I don’t think it’s going to change but the reasonable back in May, due to the pregnancy, decision to have Supergirl be “mid season” isn’t really applicable anymore.

I always thought 20 + episodes this season was unrealistic. There was some speculation that the seasons for Supergirl & The Flash are ending when they are so Melissa & Grant can participate in the Batwoman/Superman & Lois crossover. That probably would be easier especially this year to have their shows already wrapped before filming the crossover.Interesting idea anyway even if it's just speculation.

Keeping Supergirl mid-season may still make sense since they have so many DC shows and the season isn't starting until Jan.They've got seven DC shows(The Flash,Supergirl,Legends,Black Lightning Batwoman,Stargirl and Superman & Lois).

Have The Flash,Black Lightning,Batwoman,Superman & Lois come out of the gate first.Followed by Supergirl ,Legends and Stargirl.Stargirl could be a summer show again. It did very well this year during that period.

ETA

Thinking of crossovers.Probably not for this year but as much and I would love to see a Stargirl/Supergirl and or Stargirl/Flash crossover, what about a Stargirl/Black Lightning crossover?

1)Stargirl and Black Lightning both film in Atlanta so that would be easier to do then a crossover with the Vancouver based shows.

2)In the comics,Jennifer Pierce/Lightning joins the JSA and becomes good friends with Courtney Whitmore/Stargirl.I could certainly see a friendship forming between them on the shows too.
