I have liked Carole King since the Beatles recorded a couple of her songs, I loved Tapestry, the best album by a female singer/songwriter ever! Now add Melissa to the mix, and I have to thank Rao.

My only grumble is that the production is across the Atlantic! But very interested to hear from anyone who is lucky enough to attend.

I assume the chance of any recordings being issued are slim (the original cast version of Beautiful is available, but nothing since that I can find).

It could happen. Theaters are equipped to record. Many Broadway show recordings are simply recordings of live shows and not studio recordings. For Duet I’m pretty sure the sound track released was live versus studio recordings with the addition of a second version of running home to you that Grant did in a studio.

From what I can see, Melissa only did the intro at Stars in the Alley, and didn't actually sing.

I saw a picture on Twitter that someone took of the performers, and it appeared Melissa was slated to perform a song, but they must have had to make a last minute switch.

Well, I will be seeing Mel on Broadway next week and I am excited. I like Carole King's music and with Mel's talent I expect to not be disappointed.

Here is Mel performing one of the songs from the musical....

https://www.broadwayworld.com/videoplay/BWW-TV-Beautiful-Benoist-Watch-Broadways-New-Carole-King-in-Action-20180606

And not just any song, but So Far Away, one of the many hits to come from Carole King's landmark 1971 album "Tapestry." The album won 4 Grammy Awards in 1972...

Album of the Year

"It's Too Late" won for Record of the Year

"You've Got a Friend" was Song of the Year

Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female.

In 1995, Rod Stewart did a cover version of So Far Away on a tribute album "Tapestry Revisited: A Tribute to Carole King."

Also, anybody else notice, Melissa's nnnoottttt aaactually playing the piano :p

Definitely looks like she was just pretending to play but even then she looked pretty good at it. Nice song though, such a lovely voice and that laugh at the end, you gotta love it.

Argo will have to see if Melissa plays the piano for real given he's so close to the stage.

I'm wondering two things: 1.) Since it was a performance for the press, and not wanting to mess up she simply didn't play or 2) since she's just doing a truncated performance run, she didn't actually learn to play the songs. However, if it was reason 1, she would have most likely still looked to play the song correctly, but just used a backtrack instead. I suspect it's reason #2, and there's actually no strings in the piano, or that they have a padding on the strings.

Well Melissa performed today on Live with Kelly and Ryan. She sang "I Feel the Earth Move." Trying to search for a good copy of it on YouTube.

I'm also going to this wed. matinee. Argo, if you get a chance stop by and say hello before the show starts. We will be in Row A, orchestra isle seats. Left of the stage and I will be wearing my superman tee shirt with my blue blazer, so every time Melissa looks my way I can flash her with the house of EL. lol

I’ll be directly behind you in row B aisle seat, left of stage. I’ll be wearing a blue denim collar less shirt. I hope that you’re not too tall so I can’t see Melissa..:D

I noticed on the Beautiful webpage that Melissa will not be doing the play on July 21 and 22, which is the weekend of San Diego Comic Con. Very much doubt that is a coincidence.

Wooowhooo!! I was bummed at the thought of possibly having yet another ComicCon without Chyler and Melissa there at the same time. I would imagine we may have Jesse there, too, now that he's been but up to a regular.

I couldn't imagine them not having her come to SDCC, but it wasn't looking like it was going to happen. I figure SDCC is in their contracts so....unless you have a family emergency like Chyler did last year, you are there. I'm glad it isn't too much of a turn around for her so that she will have Monday to get over the jet lag.

Yah, even Greg Berlanti doesn’t have the power to allow her to skip SDCC.

Just read on Twitter that a fan attending Beautiful yesterday saw Chyler at yesterday's matinee. Yay!! Was hoping she'd get to support Melissa. Hoping to hear of other cast members going.

Aaaaaaaawwe! I just love this...

This just gives me the warm fuzzies.

Right?? I've missed these types of interactions between those two. With all that's gone on since Season 2, all we really started hearing from Chyler was about Alex's journey and/or Floriana. I've missed the focus on the sisters, on AND off screen :)

That was so sweet from Chyler, in a word it was Beautiful. I love that she calls Melissa "sis" twice :) .

I am going to appreciate Melissa more than ever in Season 4. If she does indeed resume filming on August 7 and gets straight back into those 16/17 hour days so we can have her normal screen-time (about 20 mins currently) in the 1st few episodes then that will be a Supergirl effort from her. As I've mentioned before I'd be happy with Kara Danvers only scenes in say the 1st 3 episodes if that helps ease Melissa's workload. Hopefully will get some confirmation @ SDCC (I wonder if Melissa will look tired at SDCC, her Friday night performance of Beautiful would finish about 11pm then presumably she'd have to catch an early Saturday morning flight (6 or 7am) from NYC to San Diego and it's a fairly full on day at the Con).

They might have get her a private plane and she could sleep comfortable...
