I decided to start basically a Supergirl season 6 thread.I was already figuring we may get some news at DC's FanDome event next month but apparently there was a Virtual Wizard World Con in the past few days and several cast members were there.Apparently there was some season 6 news there.TheDCTVshow has a report on it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eL_031LiXNw

The Major news points.

1)Jesse Rath revealed they plan to begin shooting September 28.

DCTVshow speculates that they might do what they did at the start of season 4 where other cast members like Jesse will begin shooting September 28 but Melissa might start a little later.

2)Helen Slater will be in a couple episodes in season 6.

The next bit I'll spoiler highlight since it could be considered a spoiler.

3)
Warning: Spoiler Alert! [Toggle message]
From Jesse Rath:"The writers are working on,not a Legion story but what I think is the essence of what The Legion Of Superheroes is."

DCTVShow speculates he's not expecting Legion members appearing but more the idea of what The Legion is.A team of superheroes coming together. So really Team Supergirl really coming together as a team and becoming the basis of what The Legion becomes in the future.

ETA

I think I found the actual panel video.

I know a fair amount of board members are concerned that the show isn't going to have the last hurrah they rightfully deserve and that this season may be a write-off somehow. I'm not willing to buy into these things for a few reasons:

1) The actors are all professionals and will give their best, irrespective of possibly weak scripting or questionable overall direction (I mean from the EPs and not the individual directors themselves). The actors and crews will show up and give their best, everything else is debatable.

2) If it takes twice as long to film episodes because of Covid-19 precautions, Melissa may not miss a great deal of time since the multiple overall stages of production are also impacted as well. Melissa's presence may be missed initally, but it may not be as severe as we are making it out to be. It depends on how many episodes they have in the can - so to speak - before her estimated return in January. It could only be two or three episodes where she has to catch up and film her missing scenes and do the ADR and other prep work.

3) The possible reason there isn't any news or media surrounding the show is because they've probably decided to keep things tightly under wraps - i.e. their version of a "lockdown"- for fear of raising and dashing expectations too quickly. Remember, they've (the studio and the PTB) raised lofty expectations before only to have very lukewarm receptions to the end product.

4) Given all of the shake-ups and shuffling happening at WB and the CW with the top brass, the fact that Supergirl was granted a sixth season to conclude her story on her terms is a dramatic feat in itself. It could be that the PTB finally heard the fans and read the writing on the wall regarding how it was faring, and made their necessary moves in their own way. Everything happens for a reason even if we aren't aware of what the reason(s) might be.

5) The show will conclude. Yes. That much we do know. But, what we do not know and cannot know, is what will come next and when. It is possible that another iteration of Supergirl will come down the pipe at some point in the future (be it a feature film, an animated work, or another medium altogether).

So, the bottom line is this: Don't worry about what hasn't happened yet and trust that everyone involved in making the show what it is, will do their part to make Season 6 memorable for the fans and the cast and crews alike.

I am concerned as well. I want the show to end on a high note. I think they should block out 2 short arcs as opposed to one long one. It looks like the final season will bleed into tge 21-22 season timetable anyway. So why not a 19 episode season 6 and a 10 episode season 7 filmed back to back... If the showrunner is not invested, we have a problem. The showrunner has been phoning it in until we aporoach the end of the season for the past 2-3 seasons. If the can turn in phenomenal episodes at the end of the season, they can do better during the season. We need ver tight oversight for these final episodes. I fear Melissa will have a small presence in early episodes if she doesn't return to work until January.

I've been hoping for the "two shorter seasons" approach for some time.

In any case, I'd like them to wrap up the season five arc and move on to the new storyline as quickly as possible.

CW episodes aren't taking quite twice as long as normal, as someone mentioned. Flash is currently filming Episode 3, and started filming their season on October 9th. So while it's slower, it's not THAT slow.

I'm imagining that, aside from whatever Melissa's role is, the cast and crew will have 5-6 episodes in the can by the winter break, as they started on October 13th.

What remains to be seen is how they are working around Melissa's absence. Are they writing her off for 5-6 episodes? Are they going to backtrack all the way to episode 1 and have Melissa film all her scenes for the backlog of episodes, en masse, starting in January? (This sounds feasible, but puts the entire strain of production on Melissa until she catches up to the others). This is part of why I'm skeptical, this season. Either we lose our lead for a number of episodes, or they run her ragged trying to catch her up. Neither situation is ideal.

Things really are up in the air, at this point. But what I can say is this: If they do write Melissa off for a number of episodes, I can say with confidence that I have extremely minimal interest in episodes that don't feature Supergirl. It's filler, to me.

It's all speculation, but we'll see what happens.

I was just watching the newest TheDCTVshow video. It was a speculation video about the casting of a local actor for Supergirl Season 6.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ft4dYisEANU

But in the comments section,a poster dropped some info on the episode Chyler is directing.

Chyler Leigh will be directing a young Danvers Sisters episode which is 6x06. Izabella and Olivia are in Vancouver. YVR Shoots have posted the production list and Chyler is listed for this week.

Sounds like we are getting atteast one more flashback to a young Kara & Alex this season.

Cool, I was hoping we would get a flashback episode. It’s probably the most fan approved way to do with very little Melissa. Thanks to Izabela and Olivia’s perfect portrayals “Midvale” is a fan favorite. And having Chyler direct it means she doesn’t have to direct herself too much. Months ago Helen Slater did say she was scheduled I’ll bet this is what she was talking about.

And just like that, 6x06 became my most anticipated episode of the season. :)

You can add me to the list. Midvale was so good...it's in my Hall of Fame of SG episodes. And Chyler gets her turn in the director's chair where she will have an advantage...not having to direct herself like Melissa did...not that she wasn't capable of doing that.

Even I, who have admittedly been a stick in the mud regarding season 6 being the final season, it falling under COVID restrictions, and having Melissa absent for such a large portion of it, can admit my excitement to have young Kara and Alex back. Those 2 are absolutely charming.

My wish (which wont happen) is that they would write adult Kara off for a series of episodes, for some sort of illness or defeat, and have a time travel story where teenage Kara must come to the present and take her place for the interim episodes.

It won't happen, but one can dream.

Regardless, PUMPED to have Izabela and Oliva back on set.

Glad to see the "younger" Danver sisters return, although the younger ones would be college age adults at least. Many fans have wanted this... I was hoping a legends crossover with the younger and present day Danvers.

Hopefully news will filter in soon about how they will work Melissa into the episodes they are filming before she returns.

They must be planning to return Supergirl to the lineup in Spring or it will bleed into the 2021-22 season, unless they plan to double up on episodes in the summer. I guess they could pull a Supernatural and split the final season between this season and next.

Looking forward to some substantial news early in the new year.

I'm presuming it will bleed into the 2021-22 season. The filming isn't slated to end until August, which is one month after the shows normally end their summer hiatus. I think season 6 will likely end up starting around April or May. And if the production schedule showing them wrapping in August is accurate, I'm estimating our final episodes will be around early October. It's possible Supergirl might end right as the other shows begin their next seasons.

That's one benefit to this being the final season. They don't need to worry about running into their summer hiatus, or getting a break before their next season.

David Ramsey is returning as Arrow's John Diggle on Supergirl in a episode this season. He will also be directing for Supergirl as well as well as appearing/directing episodes of The Flash,DC Legends Of Tomorrow,Batwoman and Superman & Lois.

David Ramsey To Direct, Return As John Diggle & Mystery Character In the CW’s Arrowverse

By Denise Petski
Senior Managing Editor
December 1, 2020

https://deadline.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/DAvid-Ramsey-2-Diggle.jpg

EXCLUSIVE: David Ramsey (aka John Diggle) will be busy both behind and in front of the camera for the CW. Ramsey, who most recently starred in Arrow as John Diggle/Spartan will return to direct five episodes in the DC Universe, including the new series Superman & Lois, and Supergirl. Additionally, Ramsey will guest star in five episodes across the Arrowverse, returning as fan favorite John Diggle in Superman & Lois, Supergirl, The Flash and Batwoman, along with a mystery role in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, which is being kept under wraps.

Ramsey made his directorial debut on Arrow in 2018 and directed a second episode during the series’ final season.

In the series finale of Arrow, Ramsey’s John Diggle moved to Metropolis after finding an emerald ring, presumably the power ring worn by Green Lantern in the pages of DC Comics. There has been speculation that Diggle might return at some point as the Green Lantern, so stay tuned.

“I remain in awe of the imprint these shows have had on television and I’ve been blessed for the better part of a decade to be a part of them both in front of and behind the camera,” said Ramsey. “To say I’m excited beyond belief to return to the Berlantiverse would be an understatement. I can’t wait to continue telling these stories.”

Ramsey’s previous credits include Blue Bloods, opposite Tom Selleck and the role of Anton Biggs on Dexter. He also drew critical praise for his starring role as Muhammad Ali in the television biopic Ali: An American Hero. On the feature side, Ramsey’s credits include a starring role in the Rodrigo Garcia directed Mother and Child, as well as Pay It Forward and Draft Day. Ramsey is repped by manager Nils Larsen at Integral Artists, APA, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman Smelkinson & Christopher.

I wonder if his mystery role of Legends is as Green Lantern as set up in the Arrow finale.Very excited to hear about Ramsey's return as Diggle and him directing.I bet he's not doing Black Lightning due to it shooting in Atlanta.

Good for him! I hope it turns into something more permanent--should he wish it. He was a real pro throughout Arrow's run; I enjoyed his character and his performance.

I agree, the chemistry with him and Stephen Amell was amazing...and I am thinking what some on here are thinking...that David will be on Legends...as Green Lantern. Also cool to see him pop up on and direct a Supergirl episode.

I thought I'd share this story I came across with a disclaimer... We Got This Covered is sometimes correct in their reporting but it is very hit and miss. While it sounds plausible, I wouldn't put a lot of stock in it at this point, it may or may not be accurate. I thought it would be appropriate here as it relates to season 6 speculation...

Thanks for the link CatPat. I feel it's going to be a bang up final season with the focus on Supergirl and Melissa the actress. I expect to see a full display of her talent in many episodes. After the conclusion of Supergirl I can see Melissa staring in a tv sit com or doing a stint on Broadway. Someone as talented as her will always land on their feet.

I saw that a few days ago.We Got This Covered is not very reliable.I remember them swearing that their sources told them Supergirl was being canceled in season 4 due to low ratings and low and behold,it was renewed for Season 5.Then they said the same thing in Season 5 and the show was renewed for season 6.

Of course it's very possible but I keep going back to what Erin Cummings teased on The John Campea Show the days the news broke.I guess we'll know down the line.

I certainly hope Melissa would be open to occasional guest appearances on other Arrowverse shows or future crossover events. If nothing else,I would love to see .a guest appearance on The Flash for whenever that shows eventually ends(rumor is that it probably will go another two years or maybe three) like she,Grant and Caity appeared in the final episode of Arrow.

I agree with you that We Got This Covered is hit and miss, I take everything they say with a heavy dose of scepticism. They actually reported exactly the opposite in October.

I agree, that would be fun to see. Hopefully she could work it in around any other projects she has in the future. It's all speculative of course, but fun to think about during the hiatus. I am reminded of the title of one movie by the late, great Sean Connery: "Never Say Never Again."

Was just watching the latest The DCTVShow podcast.Apparently David Harewood will be directing another episode this season after the Christmas break.

Supergirl goes on its Christmas break in 6 days and will return(with Melissa) to filming January 18(two week of quarantine prior to this)Melissa also posted a Instagram story revealing that she's begun training/getting into shape for her return as Supergirl.

Jesse Rath posted a photo from the currently filming episode 6,directed by Chyler and featuring Izabella and Olivia.

Was just listening to the new DCTVShow podcast and it's reporting that episode 5 & 6(which finished on the 18th before the show broke for the holidays) may be a two parter and that Izabella and Olivia are also in episode 5 as well.

Some other interesting stuff and speculation in the video.
