I wonder if Kara's necklace means something more to the narrative.

When kara saw and grabbed it monel sort of yanked it back from her and tucked it back in his shirt. So I can't help but wonder if it's pertinent to something else going on in the storyline.

I hope so otherwise he should have given it back to her.

Am I the only one that finds it incredibly annoying that Kara acts like emotions are something that only humans have?

Speaking of unnecessary angst/drama, why couldn't Mon-El just tell people what's going on instead of acting shifty for no reason?

You're not the only one. I don't like that feelings (mainly love) are depicted as a human thing when we know they're not. Kara loved her bio family before she ever came to earth. We've seen that J'onn loved his family too. They keep pushing this notion of love being a human want/desire and it's tiring to watch.

As for monel, the way I see it is the sneaking and lying was completely for the drama of it all. He didn't need to give details, he could have just said he's from the future, the others on that ship are his 'friends' and he needs to get back to them. That could've nipped all the unnecessary lying in the bud. In the end kara and the others still found out anyways.

Interesting. It was really weird how he reacted to her touching it; as if it is his and not hers.

I am not saying I didn't like him. I did. But, the lying was very wrong. Poor Kara.

I hope they all can move forward and become friends and allies later though...

And oh! Poor Ruby...

And yeah.. Sam.

Exactly! It has to mean something more, it just has to.

I wasn't fond of the lying either. Hopefully we're done with that from here on moving forward.

the lying was likely from not knowing what he can and cant say since he has been in the future.

And then, he goes ahead and says everything at the end anyways. So, not much of a determent was it?

He should have told her initially that he has a wife and that he needs to save her and that the ship is failing, so their lives may be in danger--he is not giving any "future" secrets away by that. [There is no question that she would have helped him. Hell, she helped him when she was full of doubts about his intent and he had just tricked Winn into taking him to the ship behind her back (Winn! For once, take Kara's side.).]

Instead, he goes around her and then tries to use Winn. How is that excusable? I really don't understand this.

I mean, I am interested to see how Kara deals with all of this and how hers and Mon El's new relationship develops, and I hope they end up friends. But no. He is still not the ideal hero.

I don't mind if he isn't. He needn't be. It'd be great if the show and especially his fans acknowledged that though. (Instead, if they just used it to create unnecessary drama in order to forget it later, that would be sad.)

You're definitely not the only one. I feel the same way, and I'm sure there are plenty of others do too (and of course those that don't).

This is one of the Weaker episodes of season three so far. Too many things go unexplained. What was the device Mon El stole from the DEO lockup? Better yet, how did he know it was there? How did Mon El return to the ship it was buried underground? Howcdid Kara herself get there, did she tunnel? The black of fight scenes in this season is getting really annoying. I get the feeling that the shows production budget has been cut, along with other narrow verse shows as well. Maybe that's why the writing has gotten better, with less money for fights and stunts you need to write better plots and dialogue.

It didn't come off to me as its mine not yours. It came off to me as that was the one thing that kept him alive and moving forward. Then within that 7 years he falls in love, and from what I could garner, had told Saturn Girl everything about Kara and what she meant to him, I think Saturn Girl may feel indebted to Kara for helping Mon-el become the man he is today. And that necklace is like his heroes heart so to speak, so he feels that if someone takes it away, it takes away what Kara gave him in becoming the hero he is today.

I completely agree that it means a lot to him. But the way he jerked it away evokes (to me at least) a sense of 'don't' to kara.
He told kara how much it means to him. And he spoke so reverently about it so I know it means a great deal to him, but I still can't get past the way he practically yanked it back from her.

If I'm wrong and it isn't anything else then I strongly believe he should give it back to kara. It served its purpose for him but now it's time to return it.

I think it holds a greater purpose at the moment....I have some thoughts on that, but will not discuss them at this moment. I will however before the end of the season. Because I think it holds a huge purpose later on. Of course my speculations very seldom come true, but I have a good one now and again. ;)
Like you, Kelly, many times my speculations don't come true but, that's okay. It's fun to do it anyway. Btw, I still think your speculation about Reign having a genetic connection to Kara is a very real possibility.

Regarding Mon-El/Saturn Girl relationship and the necklace, my prediction is that Supergirl doesn't live in the fight against Reign in the timeline that Mon-El and Saturn Girl come from. That possibly is the reason why Mon-El moved on from Kara and also why the necklace is of importance. My guess at the moment :D is that the necklace is a key to defeating Reign. I think that Alura knew about Reign's existence before Krypton was destroyed so, she worked on creating a mechanism that would defeat her. When she discovered that Krypton was going to be destroyed, she put the device into the form of Kara's necklace. She gave it to Kara as Kara was being shipped off because she knew Reign's true purpose. Her directive for Kara to protect Kal-El wasn't just because he was a baby but, because she knew of Reign's threat.

Mon-El somehow found out about the true nature of the necklace and because he knows that SG doesn't survive her fight, he needs to hold onto it to complete Reign's destruction. That's why he was so quick to grab it back from Kara's hands and why he didn't offer to give it back to her.

That's my hypothesis. I have absolutely no evidence to back it up and it's most likely not going to be proven to be true but, hey, that's why it's called a hypothesis :D

I've actually seen this theory floating around a bit on twitter. Seems many people are on the same wave length as you.

Exactly! He's to tired to talk but somehow he has the energy to punch people? Or maybe he could have mentioned it before he left the ship for the DEO? (How did he get back to the ship anyway?)

As far as Kara is concerned, there is no reason for her to be like this. It's like the end of last season when James learned he could be a hero without the suit, he already knew that! Now Kara is going to learn that caring about people doesn't make her weak? Then there's the fact it's condescending as hell to all her human friends. I am amazed that we haven't seen an angry drunk Alex telling her off "you're a Kryptonian not a Vulcan."
Also what's the point of making Rein forget all of her emotional attachments, if not to act as a foil to Kara's empathetic hero?

Exactly. I felt so bad that Sams relationship with her adopted mom is so shaky that she's never met Ruby and doesnt even really know her name.

Also Sams mom definitely knows something, and was probably the one who found Sams pod. Im guessing she still has it too.

And knowing whats coming its telling that Sams portrayal has been so well done that as a viewer I want to go and tell her to step away from the line of questioning bc thats going to be whats going to lead her to Reign.

Well, I'm crying :(

I know Mon-El had 7 years and near certainty of never seeing Kara again to move on, but damn if my heart didn't break for her. She's still grieving and that was brutal.

Im upset Sam lost all her agency by having the brainwashing forced on her to become evil. I hope that this doesnt mean the death of Sam. I hope that the personalities can be separated somehow. Or that Sam doesnt get punished for the things that Reign did.

Well it clarifies that Sam and Reign are two different people. Basically like Winter Soldier and Bucky, with the conditioning being like its own personality. So Im guessing that Ruby will be the one to break through the conditioning, given how the brainwashing program told her she would forget Ruby.
