I know that this is two weeks early but this is the mid-season finale and REIGN FOR GOODNESS SAKE so why not have one up there.

EN "Im thrilled to see the continuations of the stories of mon-el, the legion of supe4heroes, and of course, reign."

How about the story of Kara/Supergirl?.

All those stories, in the end of the day, affect kara's life and story, so im not worry about that.

I think this will simply be when we see Reign first using her power.....my thing is, how will she know how to fight?

Could be like Kara vs Vartox where Kara got beatdown in her first fight but this time Kara will be handing it to Reign. Then again if you say "she fights her in ep. 9 however, and from the pics out there is slammed pretty hard....to the point of bleeding." then that could indicate Reign has the fighting knowledge in her Worldkiller genes.

At the very least it will be a most interesting watch to see how the first Supergirl vs Reign fight goes.

Yes, they could show us that pretty quickly in the first few moments of Episode 9....ability to fly, among other things.

I wonder what the big cliff hanger for the mid season finale is going to be. I initially thought it was going to be Kara finding out Sam is Reign, but that seems to early to make that reveal given what we've seen of the other arrow verse shows with a 'hidden identity' big bad. (Reign wears a mask)

Yeah, I don't think she finds out that Same is Reign in ep. 9......she fights her in ep. 9 however, and from the pics out there is slammed pretty hard....to the point of bleeding.

Bless her heart, she goes from Overgirl to Reign.....

Yeah, two khryptonians in two episodes...both sort of dark versions of herself. I think Sam will never be as bad as Overgirl is bc Overgirl is a nazi and Sams just under mind control/conditioning. (The real Sam would never do what Reign does)

A reveal to another person also wouldn't make much sense to me considering she just barely got the Reign identity this episode.

Why do you keep saying she is under mind control, she is not...she is a created being, created to be a World killer not mind controlled to be that, she is MADE TO BE THAT, it is in her DNA.

You and i fundamentally disagree on this point, but for the sake of argument let's say you're right, that its the DNA that activates her 'programming' or whatever. Would that same programming or whatever activate in ruby when she comes of age? She has the same genetic code as Sam, or at least probably 80 percent of it.
If thats the case....
Also I have a feeling the evil scientists although they said she was 'a mistake' would not be adverse to using Ruby as a 'backup'. She has the same genetics that Reign does so I can see Reign trying to activate her dormant world killer genes as well.

First off, she would have circa 50% of Sam's genetic structure. I see no reason her attributes would contribute more than the father's.

Secondly, I see Reign and Sam as different personalities. Not brainwashing. Both simultaneously existing within the same body.

It's correct that she is a created being. Created to be Reign, the worldkiller. In the end, I think it's gonna come down to which personality is more dominant, and I think Ruby will play a heavy factor in that.

I will bet you that Supergirl will be handed her greatest defeat at the hands of Reign and that the cliffhanger will be the Legion of Superheroes.

The new trailer for Reign is out, and it looks like I was right about Reign pretending to be sam. She has a really 'cold' look on her face when walking through the office and also appears to be ignoring Ruby. Also the shirt rip was pretty cool!

Is anyone else getting a Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets vibe from Sam/Reign?
We have a girl (well in Sam's case woman) who is being possessed/controlled by someone. This person forces her to attack people, and leave mysterious messages behind afterward. The women has no recollection of her activities while she was possessed.
That sounds a almost exactly like Ginny from Chamber of Secrets. (Except Ginny was 11 at the time, and she didn't actually kill anybody because they were all cured, but still)
Don't assume malice when stupidity is an adequate explanation. At least, not the first time.

Pretty good episode. I think the Supergirl/Reign fight is my favorite the show has ever done. Was really well executed and the CGI didn't look as bad as it does in some of the flying fights. Maybe because most of the fighting took place on the ground.

I loved the Danvers sisters moments and also the Christmas party was pretty great with all the girls and Jonn and his father are so cute.

I don't like this whole love triangle thing its a little soap opera like for me. I'm sure we're going to go through all this Kara pining for Monel and find out that Imra and him aren't really the happy couple they seem. Then Kara and Monel will get back together. If they are going to to that they should have just got them back together without all this love triangle stuff. That is not really something I want or need to see on Supergirl. Also, I think Lena has chemistry with everyone but James. I don't know what's going to happen with James but it seems to me they still don't really know what to do with him.

I have liked season 3 so far so I hope it doesn't get all bogged down with romantic angst.

This episode is some epic quality previously unseen.

We got a villain for once and damn she is to be feared.

If only season 2 was anything like this. In terms of villains this episode is a return to form of the glory days of DCTV. And to know Sam’s humanity still remains. As some critics put it, Reign is not only powerful, but compelling, which excels even The Flash here after the SG villain game has been lagging behind the other shows for so long.

Arrow, Flash etc have the powerful villain part done right, but a compelling villain is a new thing, and Supergirl S3 pioneered it. It came as a much needed edge to the show.

Villain aside, while I don’t feel much about the new OlsenCorp, I like the decision as it gave James some purpose in the show, and hopefully kills the remainder of any fantasy involving Lena pairings.

One thing about a powerful villain though. After Zoom, Barry got pretty dark and brooding and became Arrow M.k 2. I can only hope Reign serves the opposite purpose. After Kara discovers who she is, let’s hope the redemption story restores both their humanities.

There is only one thing that I don’t like about this episode, but it is just a tiny detail. When supergirl first confronted Reign she should have tried to x-ray vision her mask just to prove that it was made out of led.

This storyline is making me think of the "Davis Bloom" Smallville storyline for some reason lol. I have to rewatch it but in terms fighting the villian side, I guess. I'm just thinking J'onn could've helped isn't it? Even though they say the fight is between supergirl and reign. And the dialogue was bit strange when Supergirl asked "where was Reign all this time...I was kinda expecting a different response, hinting that she's forced to fulfill her prophecy or something, or hiding in the shadows, didn't realize my meaning of life something like that, even though there's probably more happening with that storyline/backstory than we've seen.. Also Alex saying embrace your alien, get cold, etc...I can see what she meant but hmm I dunno perhaps the writers are making this storyline in that, Kara got a lesson to learn, which involves embracing her alien roots but realising her human upbringing; learning human values, emotions, etc, you need both sides; emotional and physical, body and mind to be the best you can be. Lol, I'm reading into it too much but the amount the writers emphasized Kara embracing her human emotions, etc this season...all to have it resolved Alex telling her otherwise :/ hmm lol

That was just Alex being scared for her. Also, I don't think that affects anything in the long run.

I liked the episode. The Christmas party (even if not the forced friendship and romance), Imra (I kind of like her), and especially Kara and Kara's fight with Reign.

Also the guy had 7 years. It’s not his fault. It is selfish to monopolise the grief and make him feel bad too.

Draftingafter is right. It is time for Kara’s Mon-El phase to fade. Kara’s current S3-Barry-mode must end soon, for she is a lot less compelling a character while it lasts. The distant and superior “not human” attitude and her lack of affection and warmth for anyone except Alex, Sam and Lena right now makes it extremely hard to root for her.

I think she also shows affection for J'onn and Winn. (not entirely sure why she didn't mention him being her best friend, but may be she thought girl friends? or may be she considers Winn as family just like Alex?)...

And compassion for random people on the street who might get hurt... That is ultimately who Supergirl is and I don't think she has lost that. Or will ever lose that. She had it even in the first episode when she was going with the most non-human thing, when she went to that hurt soldier.

Also, I don't think they are going to end the Mon El-Imra-Kara drama any time soon. It'd be great if they do... but, I think it is going to be a season long arc for her.

For two seasons Kara had not shown any kind of positive emotion to Winn, or James really

The unfortunate part of this (if true) is that the angst is solely coming from Kara. We've seen more than once that mon-el is happy with his wife and vice versa. So the drama of this triangle is purely kara agonizing over mon-el & Imra's marriage, and I am definitely not here for that.

I agree. I just don't see it ending any time soon.

And realistically speaking, I don't think Kara should be blamed so much for it either--I think she has been getting the short end of the stick pretty much this whole season for something that is pretty normal for any person in her situation.

I agree on the "Mon-El" phase, although the concept itself (idea that Mon-El was out 7 years) was interesting...I didn't want it to happen with them :( I'm not sure where the writers are going with this...I really vouched for them as a couple season 2 but the idea they could be a couple later on, it wouldn't be the same, I don't think.

Does anyone here think that the final scene with Ruby is a hint that Reign will gradually look different down the line (i.e. comic book Reign)?
