World's Finest Sundays

We have only one episode to go this season on Supergirl but the CW Upfronts presentation has brought us a look ahead at the 2019 - 2020 season of the Arrowverse. Supergirl is going to be paired up with Batwoman next season! There will be a Sunday night, World's Finest kind of vibe which we are so excited for! It is, however, important to note that the show will be airing after Batwoman in the 9pm slot. For us, we think this is a great move. First of all, we are going to be covering Batwoman on our sister site, https://batwoman.tv which will make our Sundays even more packed; but as a strategy, Ruby Rose has a very HUGE fan-base and the exotic nature of a "Bat" show as well as the first female-lead lesbian superhero show should bring in big viewers. A lot of that will trickle into Supergirl allowing a new audience to be exposed to the Girl of Steel!

Of course, the opportunity for crossovers, small World's Finest type events would be so sweet! Any opportunity to bring the Bat and the \S/ together is a recipe for success and we couldn't be more excited!

I don't get the reasoning behind having Supernatural reruns on Sunday nights...why not start getting the fans use to the later timeslot for Supergirl by putting Supergirl reruns there this Summer? Weird...

I want Batwoman to stay away from the Supergirl show, it will only drag it down.

Except for Silver Dollars I hate any kind of change. I was against the show moving from Monday night to Sunday night but that worked out okay. Now we have a time slot change from 8:00 to 9:00 and only time will tell how this works out. This show has the most loyal and knowledgeable fans on the planet, so if this doesn't work out it's not on our end. Good Luck!

Having Supergirl on at 9:00 PM in NYC and L-A would be a lead-in to the news on WPIX (PIX 11 News at 10) and KTLA (KTLA 5 News at ten) respectively. Also in Boston, on WLVI 56, it would be a lead in to 7 News on CW 56, which is produced by WLVI's co-owned station the news-heavy independent WHDH 7.

Also, by the time the new season begins in Chicago, the CW will have moved from WPWR 50, which will go back to being a MyNetwork station, to the more powerful WCIU-TV channel 26. I posted something on the move in the Forum.

If Batwoman proves to be a winner despite the programming on the other nets, Supergirl will have very capable "wings" to support her.

By the way, Admin, you think the CW will call the Sunday night of programming "World's Finest Sunday?"

Quoting Kiwi:
So long as they don't go for a much darker tone with Supergirl being in the later time-slot then I see no problems with it's change to 9PM (which for me will probably mean availability to view @ Monday 7pm i/o Monday 6pm currently) . I (and many others here I'm sure) enjoy Supergirl's lighter tone so hopefully it stays that way.

I agree that Supergirl doesn't need to be dark for the sake of being dark.

Sundays gets a whole lot better for me. After Crisis On Infinite Earths, I can see Supergirl and Batwoman crossover more.

I know I will be there to watch SuperGirl no matter what timeslot she is put in. My only concern are the young children that also watch the show and their ability to stay up from 9:00 til 10:00 PM to see their hero. That is why I would think they would have put the "lighter" show first. However either way she is in what is considered prime time slot (8:00-11:00 PM) so will just have to wait and see how it all pans out. SuperGirl has a following so it should work out okay.

Also, in looking at the picture above from the crossover scene - the station was letting us know of their plans then. As we see the two together and Batgirl is in position 1 of the picture and SuperGirl is in position 2 - so I think this is a long thought out plan by the CW.

Quoting Supergirl.tv Admin:
This is a shameful plug for our sister site, so please excuse my promotion ...

Would love to see you guys join up on Batwoman.tv as well! We'll have the best coverage of both shows on Sunday nights!

Don't sell yourself short. That plug was shameless! ;-)

Like Romulus, I'll hold off until I see the pilot. At least it will be a shorter wait than I was expecting. I thought it would be a midseason replacement for Arrow.

I would think the CW would want Supergirl fans to get into Batwoman, and so they would put Batwoman on after Supergirl. That didn't work well for Charmed this season, but Charmed isn't a superhero show. Supergirl fans are already in place, so while the show might decline a bit in next-day ratings because of the later time slot, it should make up for it in delayed viewing.
I'm open to the Batwoman show, but of course I'm all Supergirl first!
