I agree with the top 2 being Reign fight and the Red Daughter fight. Incredible action in both. I do wish Supergirl could lose a fight without being beat to death (or near death in the case of Reign). I like the fact that the villain can pose a threat to the hero. What would be the point of watching (other than Melissa is still so beautiful) if every week, when ever there was a crisis Supergirl shows up and destroys the trouble makers??

I was disappointed with both Lex fights. The first fight had a promising start, but one punch from Lex, and Supergirl was down for the count. In the second fight it was all Supergirl avoiding kryptonite blasts, until she was finally hit. Then he had her except of course Red Daughter was there for the save. Seems like it should have been better action, and Supergirl delivering more blows, and certainly being able to take a punch. Her fight with Agent Liberty right before Lex showed up in the season finally was good. She got hit, she hit back, and she won.

Personally, I like the villains that can outsmart the hero, and cause them great danger, which is why Lex is usually good. Part of me wants to see Lena trick Supergirl into her lab and then knock her out with some kind of kyrptonite gas (maybe with chloroform), and then hand her off to her mother, in a helpless state. Then when she wakes up, she is in her enemies hands, in a very perilous situation and has only herself to get out of it.

I could see a similar moment in that scenario to the Red Daughter scene with Alex, where Lena comes back to the good side after a lot of inner turmoil, and eventually goes to help. Hopefully when she arrived, Supergirl would have already gotten herself out of danger, but would be happy to reconcile with Lena.

Just my idea.

Perhaps next time just an open ended question without a poll would be just as fun and less work for the admins. IMO we don't need another poll after this one but I'm glad they seem to have inspired some new members. We're less than 100 days, SDCC is right around the corner and from that point news should be steady if not frequent until October.

How about a fan poll where we vote on the lovely members of this forum for their educational, insightful observations, constructive critical and witty comments for this past season. Right off the bat I would nominate Kiwi, Briarrose, Liberty Prime, Superbill, Argo and I can't forget Bob. I know I left out plenty of members but that's why we need a poll. That should keep us going until October. lol

All of these are deserving, as are some others that didn't make the cut. But the five I chose are:

Talking Down the Robber (S1, E7). This was the first one I picked because it is so inspiring, showing real heroism and a willingness for sacrifice.

Flying Ft. Rozz into Space (S1, E20). Superpower on display to the max, and the conversation with Alex just before was heartbreaking and one of the best between the sisters.

Drunk Kara (S2, E6). Hilarious expressions and speech by Melissa.

Pushing the Spaceship out of Ascension (S2, E15). Great action sequence, and the eye contact between Chyler and (especially) Melissa is awesome.

Alex Remembers Kara (S4, E21). Fierce action and an emotional reassertion of the sisters' bond.

The common thread in all of the nominated scenes is Melissa's talent. Whether it's action, drama, or humor; whether she's playing Kara, Supergirl, or some variation of Supergirl, she has nailed it every time with her amazing blend of acting skill, voice, and expression.

To me, the reason I felt the Reign vs. Supergirl is so good is that it gave Melissa a whole other set of her acting tools to use that we hadn't seen before, or since for that matter. But we have seen that type of sorrow and turmoil from Chyler...to me if people want an Alex heavy scene to win, there were far better scenes than that one.

In the comics, Reign totally kicks Supergirl's butt, in fact, Supergirl never actually destroys Reign. It isn't until Supergirl almost kills another World Killer that Reign decides to take her buddies and take off to other worlds. So to me, until they got crazy with the other World Killers and did the whole Trinity stuff, it was probably the closest to the comics they had come with a true Supergirl comic storyline.

I get why these 2 scenes stand out. They are both action packed and emotional. What makes a great villain is the threat they pose to the hero. It's not just that Reign and Red Daughter beat Supergirl. It's that they did it with Supergirl at FULL power, not relying on Kryptonite or a red sun, and beat her to a devastating degree. And in Reign's case, the whole city bore witness, and didn't know if their hero lived or died for quite some time. Having these moments makes it all the more satisfying when the hero comes back and eventually wins.

It's not exclusive to Supergirl. The episodes where Dark Archer and Zoom absolutely pummeled Flash and Arrow, respectively because they emphasize the threat the villain poses.

As much as I complain about how the season 3 went AFTER the winter break, that Reign fight was absolutely amazing. I personally rate it above the RD fight because, after the sky went dark, you couldn't see anything that was happening. And that bothered me.

I understand the value of villains posing a threat to Supergirl because it keeps you on the edge of your seat. But to have Reign beat the crap out of Supergirl which puts her in a coma for most of the following episode is taking it a little bit to far for my taste. I think a tie would have been better served.
I'm a big fan of comedy in the show. I forgot to nominate the beginning of the crossfire episode where it's Monty's first day at Catco and Kara get's him ready with the corny clothes and glasses. The entire episode is very funny and more enjoyable to watch then Supergirl getting her ass kicked to near death.

Quoting Kiwi:

I better get back to subject though with an interesting observation about the current Top 2 scenes (Supergirl vs Reign and Alex Remembers Kara, Just As She Begins to Pass) both of which at some point in the scene have Supergirl lying on the ground having been brutally beaten and so close to death, I don't know if people like her in that situation but hopefully that's not a requirement for future best scenes. After 4 seasons of Supergirl being close to death at least 5 times from what I can recall along with her being pummeled, choked, asphyxiated and other things many times to go with numerous occasions of losing her powers I'm ready for a season where very little (or none at all) of that happens to her, time for others to be put in those situations and Supergirl save them.

Before all that I just want to see what hairstyle Melissa is going with as Supergirl, hope to see something this week.

I will always say that the best scenes in this show are when Supergirl is at her best and that's when she's alive and well, living up to her name (showing us the Super in Supergirl) and saving lives :-) . If I was to do my say Top 100 scenes from the series so far it would be full of scenes like Supergirl rescuing the trapped bus driver in Fight or Flight (S1 E3), saving the school bus from going over the collapsed road in Human for a Day (S1 E7) and the 4 times she directly saved Winn's life during Season 1.

I second Superbill in saying thanks for keeping us entertained during the hiatus. Like some other's I've enjoyed reading people's comments, especially on the favorite scenes, and don't care about the winner. I actually thought of two scenes that didn't get nominated. The scene where Kara and Barry meet in Worlds Finest. The scene with Kara, Alex and Sara on the steps of the church in Crisis on Earth-X, technically a Supergirl episode. I read that Caity Lotz improvised the "how's your butt" line and pros that they are Melissa and Chyler held it together long enough to finish the take before bursting out laughing.

This has been such a fun way to bridge the hiatus! Thanks for doing this, and also thanks to all who participated. I've enjoyed going back and reviewing all of the nominated scenes (and many others). For all its ups and downs, it really is a great show.
