Just about everyone hoped, wondered, desired, or even prematurely reported that Tom Welling would return in Crisis on Infinite Earths to reprise his role as Clark Kent. Well today, according to Entertainment Weekly, that is actually going to happen! For those unfamiliar, Tom played a teenaged to young adult version of Clark Kent in Smallville. The bones for the entire Arrowverse are basically built on the achievements and sound stages the Smallville had in Vancouver. Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim had this to say:
For eight years, Arrow has stood on the shoulders of Smallville. Simply put, there would be no Arrow, and no Arrowverse, without it. So when we first started talking about Crisis on Infinite Earths, our first, second and third priorities were getting Tom to reprise his iconic role as Clark Kent. To say that we’re thrilled would be a Superman-sized understatement.
Smallville fans can further be delighted as the crossover event will address where and what Tom's Clark Kent has been up to in the eight years since Smallville ended.

I know this year is Batman's 80th Anniversary, but the Supermen being in Crisis will outweigh it.
I'll be honest. If we got 3 Supermen and Supergirl vs the Anti-Monitor...that'd be pretty freaking amazing.
Now that Tom will reprise his Smallville role, I hope he also plays Ultraman so he can die early like in the Crisis comics.
This is a good chance for Tom to pass the Superman TV torch to Tyler Hoechlin.
This is turning out to be quite the party. Lots of history will be on display. :)
I thought this was some kind of joke. But to see the EW article just about lock it in...well...steel...lots of Smallville fans will long for the nostalgia side of things.
You know what would be crazy...if there was a picture of Melissa (as Supergirl) along with Tom, Tyler and Brandon seen online. People would flip!
I have to wonder if his Superman will play in the role of the Earth-2 Superman.
It’s going to look real ridiculous if he opts for cgi and close ups like the Smallville finale.
