The Legion of Superheroes Synopsis

While we know that any break from new episodes of Supergirl isn't our favorite thing, this one is coming to a close! Today, the CW has released the synopsis for episode 310, the first of four new episodes starting January 15th! Just as the trailer suggests, our Girl of Steel is out of action and Reign's rampage on National City continues. Without their muscle (Supergirl), the DEO needs to turn to a new ally. The official synopsis is described below:

MEET THE LEGION – Struggling to heal from her injuries inflicted by Reign (Odette Annable), Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) remains in a dreamlike state, unable to be reached. Mon-El (Chris Wood) recruits one of the Legion members, Brainiac-5 (guest star Jesse Rath), to try to bring her back. Meanwhile, Reign continues her rampage on the city so the DEO teams up with the Legion of Superheroes to try to stop her.

While any new episode of Supergirl is one to look forward to, we are especially excited for this one. In an interview with BBC, Saturn Girl herself, Amy Jackson, noted that the Legion would be suiting up which alludes to the possibility of finally seeing Mon-El in his famous Red and Blue suit!

Let us know what you think of the synopsis in the comments below and in the forum! Also keep us running during this break and the bigger break coming in March by visiting the support page! Thanks!

Just to clarify; I didn't mean to say I don't like female villains. My point was just that they don't need more of those female villains just to add to the sex ratio (it is pretty female favouring anyways) and a love triangle is such a tired trope. (Really, I have seen it in almost every show I have watched; but never in real life.)

I don't think they have female villains because male villains beating up SG would be problematic. We do have enough of those (there was Parasite, that first villain Kara ever faced, reactron and so on).

And, they also have Edge. I wish he would be more SG-antagonist than Lena, but whatever.

I just think they probably find women going after women more interesting. Or, may be it is a sex ratio thing (as I mentioned); they just want to have an equal distribution of women everywhere including villainy.

"I thought the same thing about Braniac 5 - why would they use him to go into Kara's mind if they have Imra? Even though the comics have Imra as telepathic, I don't believe it has been confirmed by any show-runners that that is her power on Supergirl. They have been known to deviate from the comics, so I don't think it is a given.'

Also, Brainiac 5 is not a "telepath" in the comics. He is described in the comics as a super-intellect (a "12th level intellect"). His inventions (including his force-field belt) are what make him a superhero. I don't recall mind-reading or mind control as being among his powers in the comics. (He was one of Kara's on-again, off-again boyfriends in the Silver Age comics, though.)

On the other hand, Saturn Girl (Imra) is described in the comics as having the ability to read and control minds...
Yeah, that was kind of my point. Why bring him in to do something that she could already do?

...Also, a majority of Supergirl's main villains has been women, so you don't need another female villain to balance the gender scale of villainy so to speak.

I really haven't noticed the comparisons of female to male villains on the show. But, it does seem like there are perhaps more female main villains overall than on other shows. However, I wonder if it is because the hero is a female and perhaps they want to avoid possible controversy with a strong, physical male villain put into a position of being aggressive with a female. I would guess that if Reign had been a man and gave Kara the beat-down that she received, there might have been some backlash. I don't have a problem with either: having more female villains or a male/female physical fight on a fictional superhero show. But, I know that some do.
@Sully, @SSAV About a month ago I made a tread discussing the female and male villain thing if you want to explore the topic more https://supergirl.tv/forum/main-villains

By the way, other than comic history--which the showrunners and writers have been known to deviate from--why does everyone think Imra is a telepath? Has anyone confirmed that in universe? Because, if she is a telepath, why would they need Braniac 5?

*sighs* well now we have Arrow's promo pics for Ep. 10.

Where are the pics for Supergirl. Seriously this is ridiculous.

1.Imra has a history of manipulating her legion teamates' minds in the comics but for good reasons, like the time she did it to help them to continue when they were lost in space if i remember correctly. Perhaps it's the same thing here, maybe she's doing this to keep mon-el focused on their mission and not let his emotions for kara to get in the way.
2. Silver banshee is depicted as a bad guy in most of her incarnations. I think that the new 52 version of her is the only incarntion where she is a good guy.
3. personally, it doesn't bother me that most of the villians in supergirl are women, like it doesn't bother me that most of the villians in arrow, flash, and legends of tomorrow are men.

Agree....I honestly don't even notice that.

" Silver banshee is depicted as a bad guy in most of her incarnations."

Yes, that is certainly true. And Silver Banshee sure looked a lot scarier in the comics than on TV! :)

Glad Saturn Girl will return after Episode 12. They weren't kidding when they said Legion of Superheroes will be a big part of the season.
