The Fanatical Synopsis

Today we are getting our first glimpse into what is in store for team Supergirl for episode 319 titled "The Fanatical". Our assumption was that Coville would be making a big return but it sounds like one of his more devoted followers may be making a return as well. Furthermore, much like Ironman, James wonders if he should reveal himself as The Guardian. What leads him up to this choice is anyone's guess. Check out the synopsis below:

JAMES CONSIDERS UNMASKING AS GUARDIAN – When Tanya (guest star Nesta Cooper), a disciple of Coville’s, escapes from what’s left of his cult, she gives Kara (Melissa Benoist) and James (Mehcad Brooks) a journal that could hold the key to saving Sam (Odette Annable). Someone learns Guardian’s identity and threatens to expose James if he doesn’t do what they ask. James contemplates what it means to be a black vigilante without a mask in America. Mairzee Almas directed the episode written by Paula Yoo & Eric Carrasco (#319).

I'm glad that the Guardian stuff is proceeding. Whether people like it or not, it's very clear that Guardian is the only way the writers seem to be able to come up with things to fill a James centric episode. If that's the only thing that inspires the writers, I'd rather have this than not have James centric episodes at all.

Oh look, more political commentary. You know, I enjoy superhero stuff because it's fantasy and so believably removed from the world I live in day to day so stuffing real world political commentary into that? Automatically won't get 5 stars from me. Sorry, if I wanted social justice I'd surf Twitter.

And Guardian? Just when I thought they were keeping him to token appearances, which would be the good way to go. The producers unfortunate don't really know what to do with the James character and nothings really fitting.

Other than that it sounds like a good episode to watch, after watching my Jets humble the Predators tomorrow.

Unfortunately, this episode will not be seen in the NYC Tri-State area, where I live (SW CT). CW is as we know, on WPIX 11, but it also airs some baseball games of both the New York Mets and Yankees. On May 21st, such a game with the Yankees will air on PIX11. The Yanks will be in Arlington, TX to face the Rangers with a slated start time of 8:05 EDT.

Of course if the game is postponed for some reason (9.5/10 times due to weather, like a T-Storm), PIX might air the episode...or reruns of "Friends."

BUT...fear not, this has happened before with other CW shows. PIX might air the show Saturday night at 8:00 or Sunday Night. A Saturday airing would bump part of their line-up of retro comedy reruns like Barney Miller, All in The Family and The Honeymooners.

This is as far as I know, the only pre-emption for Supergirl on WPIX.

Thanks for the info. After reading the synopsis I can wait for the repeat.

I think Jefferson has enough on his plate with his daughters and Gambi. :)

However, depending on where he'll be with Lena in this ep, he could possibly confide with her on the matter. That still developing relationship has been refreshingly resistant to their often stereotyped character tropes in previous depictions.

Very interesting. So by ep 19 we'll have a lead on how to cure Sam...

Looking forward to all of this, except the James angle. I've given it chance after chance, but the James storylines have historically been one of the low points of the series.

Ooooh, wasn't expecting this twist on the episode's title. Just when the James/Lena relationship is warming up, too. Hope there'll be some potent exchanges in perspective with David and Carl in this as well.
