It's that time again! Supergirl has started to ramp up and today we are getting new information about the show! After recieving the episode images from episode 10, we now have the episode synopsis for "Suspicious Minds"! Just by reading the synopsis, we feel like the show is going to address a major concern fans have had for a while. If Supergirl has been at the DEO for a while, wouldn't many of the DEO agents know her identity? It would seem that Colonel Haley would agree too. Check out the synopsis below:
COLONEL HALEY IS DETERMINED TO FIND OUT SUPERGIRL’S IDENTITY — Colonel Haley (April Parker Jones) is upset after Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) responds to a distress call from a Navy ship that turned out to be a deadly alien attack. Colonel Haley reclaims the site as DEO territory and demands that Supergirl step aside. After Supergirl refuses to be told what to do, Haley refocuses her energy on finding out Supergirl’s true identity and begins to interrogate all DEO agents, including Alex (Chyler Leigh). Meanwhile, Brainiac-5 (Jesse Rath) tries to persuade Nia (Nicole Maines) to embrace her superpowers but she misinterprets his motives. Rachel Talalay directed the episode written by Maria Maggenti & Gabriel Llanas (#410). Original air date 1/20/19.

And in Season 1, "Human for a Day," IIRC.
What I said about not forgetting about the Red Daughter storyline, let's also not forget about Winn's return story-arc as well.
I am kind of the opposite, regarding new characters with a degree of skepticism. The "Suspicious Minds" title applies! LOL
One of the reasons I admire Kara so much is her optimism about human nature. Such optimism does not come easily to me, though I try to emulate it.
Fictional characters excluded, of course.
You make a very good point. It could go either way. It's more a feeling that I have since the begining that the Colonel will turn out to be an ally. She seems to have a soft side, a maternal side. Remember the pie? Maybe Supergirl will save her life and she will feel indebted to her. I can't wait for January 20th!
One reading of that line is that she is offering friendly advice.
Another reading is more threatening, "That's a nice secret identity you have here. Be a shame if something were to happen to it..."
Trailers play with expectations a lot, so I'm not advocating one reading over the other, but both are possible.
I also feel like the Colonel is following orders. I think she will ask for Supergirl's identity and act like she's doing her job but in the end, I think she will end up on Supergirl's side. Otherwise, why would we see her (in the trailer) tell Supergirl that everyone she knows will be in danger if she reveals her identity? To me, it looks like she cares even thought she doesn't show it (in order to maintain her postion with POTUS).
I loved Alex's smug demeanor in that interrogation of 1x17. My guess is that this investigation will be a formal one. Maybe the Colonel gets too close to the truth and that's why she ends up unconscious in the DEO with Alex and Kara looking on.
