Suspicious Minds Synopsis

It's that time again! Supergirl has started to ramp up and today we are getting new information about the show! After recieving the episode images from episode 10, we now have the episode synopsis for "Suspicious Minds"! Just by reading the synopsis, we feel like the show is going to address a major concern fans have had for a while. If Supergirl has been at the DEO for a while, wouldn't many of the DEO agents know her identity? It would seem that Colonel Haley would agree too. Check out the synopsis below:

COLONEL HALEY IS DETERMINED TO FIND OUT SUPERGIRL’S IDENTITY — Colonel Haley (April Parker Jones) is upset after Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) responds to a distress call from a Navy ship that turned out to be a deadly alien attack. Colonel Haley reclaims the site as DEO territory and demands that Supergirl step aside. After Supergirl refuses to be told what to do, Haley refocuses her energy on finding out Supergirl’s true identity and begins to interrogate all DEO agents, including Alex (Chyler Leigh). Meanwhile, Brainiac-5 (Jesse Rath) tries to persuade Nia (Nicole Maines) to embrace her superpowers but she misinterprets his motives. Rachel Talalay directed the episode written by Maria Maggenti & Gabriel Llanas (#410). Original air date 1/20/19.

Doesn't anyone remember Kara saying "who am I without Supergirl? " She says almost the exact same thing in 3x2 when she talks to Alex about how psi was taking Supergirl away.

And in Season 1, "Human for a Day," IIRC.

With Superman and Lois Lane at Argo, Supergirl is now on her own dealing with these problems her own way.

What I said about not forgetting about the Red Daughter storyline, let's also not forget about Winn's return story-arc as well.

You make a very good point. It could go either way. It's more a feeling that I have since the begining that the Colonel will turn out to be an ally. She seems to have a soft side, a maternal side. Remember the pie? Maybe Supergirl will save her life and she will feel indebted to her. I can't wait for January 20th!

I am kind of the opposite, regarding new characters with a degree of skepticism. The "Suspicious Minds" title applies! LOL
One of the reasons I admire Kara so much is her optimism about human nature. Such optimism does not come easily to me, though I try to emulate it.
Fictional characters excluded, of course. ;-)

I also feel like the Colonel is following orders. I think she will ask for Supergirl's identity and act like she's doing her job but in the end, I think she will end up on Supergirl's side. Otherwise, why would we see her (in the trailer) tell Supergirl that everyone she knows will be in danger if she reveals her identity? To me, it looks like she cares even thought she doesn't show it (in order to maintain her postion with POTUS).

One reading of that line is that she is offering friendly advice.

Another reading is more threatening, "That's a nice secret identity you have here. Be a shame if something were to happen to it..."

Trailers play with expectations a lot, so I'm not advocating one reading over the other, but both are possible.

I feel like the colonel is a following orders type while the new POTUS is suspect. He offered a false equivalency when he said his family was under Secret Service protection when SG said her loved ones would be in danger if she revealed her identity. The president’s family always has that protection. The question is would he permit the same protection for SG’s loved ones? Who was Lockwood talking to on the phone in ep 8?-someone pressuring him to keep Agent Liberty in the spotlight while he wanted to lie low for a while. Who would be powerful enough to make Lockwood that nervous? It would have been interesting for Supergirl to go to NCPD and offer her services or better yet go to Lena and offer herself as extra security for L Corp. The feds would need her sooner than they’d expect, but of course she cannot allow Alex to be in more danger if she can help it.

Well, that synopsis pretty much burst my hope bubble that the Colonel would be on the good side of things and help Kara. Quote:
Interesting how Supergirl refusing the Col's orders would cause Haley to focus her efforts on uncovering Supergirl's identity. How would knowing her identity help Col. Haley? Is she planning to blackmail Supergirl? ...I hope those DEO agents have enough integrity to keep Kara's secret. Do y'all think it'll be a formal interrogation like 1x17 or an undercover operation?
I'm not sure what the big push is to find out the secret identity either. It's possible that there is an ulterior motive for knowing who Supergirl is - one that takes the story deeper than just being about a case of needing transparency in the government.

I loved Alex's smug demeanor in that interrogation of 1x17. My guess is that this investigation will be a formal one. Maybe the Colonel gets too close to the truth and that's why she ends up unconscious in the DEO with Alex and Kara looking on.

I am happy to hear that SuperGirl is not letting the Colonel or anyone else tell her who she can help and who she can't. Superman didn't allow it so why should she. I don't think that anyone in the DEO will give the Colonel the information she is seeking - SuperGirl and the existing agents have been through too much together for anyone to give over SuperGirl's identity.
