Supergirl Looks to Add New Kryptonian

Another Kryptonian is coming to Supergirl, however, there isn't much known about the new role yet! The news comes to us from TVLine.com's "Matt's Inside Line" segment. The part is described as, "a forty-something actress to play a mysterious and 'sexually compelling' Kryptonian who is being likened to Game of Thrones‘ Melisandre". Now that is quite a provocative description! From what we've heard from the showrunners, as well as the general tone we believe season 3 will have, we think it's doubtful this Kryptonian will be on Earth. Rather, with the casting of Erica Durance and the increased availability of Alura's character, this seems more likely to coincide with flashbacks and a component to enrich Reign's backstory, a fact that Jessica Queller told us in person would be a focus this season. Either way, the fact is another Kryptonian is coming to the show!

Supergirl returns to The CW for season 3 on October 9th, 2017 at 8:00pm. Lets not forget those Flying Kriptonians are still out there. Since Supergirl manually threw the million Ton Fort Roz away from Earth and it didn't fall back, I assume its traveling a little above Earth escape velocity and about a year and a half away at that speed. How long before they wake up from stasis, fix the Phantom Drive and turn back to Earth, getting here almost instantly and looking for more trouble, this time without Astra to hold them back.

Hopefully you're right. II admit I'm influenced by a scene I believe was in "Blood Bonds". Aunt Astra had all these Kryptonians ready to attack but backed off because of Supergirl's earlier kindness. However the sight of all these flying Kryptonians was a bit too much. I don't recall that in the comics I read and don't want to see this spectacle repeated. I'd rather see a line drawn somewhere.

I never found it to dilute the comics.

On TV:
Does Kid Flash dilute the Flash?
Does Speedy or Arsenal dilute Green Arrow?

I suppose they are subjective questions :)

If the PTB handle it right we should have no need to worry. We survived through 2 seasons of one of TV's best shows.

We never saw Kara's Kryptonian childhood Friends. I would like to see Thara Ak-Var maybe develop into Flamebird.

Many thought the same this time last year leading up to the introduction of Superman. It turned out our concerns were unwarranted.

It's fine to have Superman drop in every now and then. But adding more Kryptonians dilutes the product. I believe in drawing a line.

Maybe flashbacks would be interesting. But I question seeing another Kryptonian. Another Kryptonian makes Supergirl less special.

This will prove to be very interesting. If the character does appear, it might be as part of a series of flashback scenes as others have suggested or it could be something completely different. We'll just have to wait and see. 8)

Why does she have to be "sexually compelling"?? I can't believe they used those words. Another (female) Kryptonian is intriguing, but sexualizing her right off the bat is....yikes.

All we need is a young Power Girl to appear in the show some time.

Mark, now that you mentioned her, my mind is open to that possibility.

Or since Power Girl is traditionally older, maybe Earth 1 Kara-L didn't get stuck in the Phantom Zone and has been raising Kal-L (the opportunity our Earth 38 Kara Zor-El missed). While both blending in and quietly hiding their powers, just as Kara Zor-El did until the pilot. Which might also explain why no Earth 1 Superman exists as an alter ego for Kal-L, since much of Kal-El's influence came from being raised as a Kent.
