Supergirl January 2019 Trailer

Wow, if you are like us, then you might be feeling exhausted from sitting on the edge of your seat during Elseworlds. With the newest announcement that "Crisis on Infinite Earths" would be explored in live action on the Arrowverse next year, there is very little that can snap our focus back to what is to come this season. That said, welcome to the first preview of next year's Supergirl trailers, the 2019 January 20th trailer for Supergirl is right here! While Superman, Lois Lane and Kara crushed Dr. Deegan, Supergirl is now Earth's only protector. Kara cannot allow her identity to be used to out those closest to her. Check out the trailer for episode 410 right here:

Line from the trailer - "It takes super strength to surrender power."

Quote from Kara - "Who am I without Supergirl?"

So after 9 episodes of Supergirl being largely superfluous in her own show, we are supposed to wait breathlessly for a month and a half to see an episode where Kara...wait for it...is forced to reject her role as Supergirl? Are they actually trying to drive away the audience? I'm extremely disappointed with the direction the show has taken this season. This is the calm version of my comment. It's an outrage that the show's producers and writers are actively neutering the character "Supergirl" in the show named Supergirl. I can forgive an episode or two for plot purposes or Melissa's Broadway show, but the entire season to date, at virtually the halfway point? Why are they spoiling such a great program?

I am also repelled by the line "It takes super strength to surrender power." It is not strength. This line is all too much like the ending of an old-time movie in which the female lead gives up her potential and power for the sake of marriage and family, allegedly a woman's only legitimate long-term goals.

Presumably it won't happen here at least not long-term or there's no show. Hopefully we won't see it short-term as in Kara foolishly giving up her power for one episode. I too do not like the neutering of Supergirl. This show should be about focusing on Supergirl's character and show her exerting her powers for good.

"I so wish that Lena could know who SuperGirl really is"

At times, I've gotten the distinct impression that Lena already does know that Kara is Supergirl, but has just decided to keep that knowledge to herself for the time being and play along (like Cat did). After all, the secret is Kara's to tell, isn't it?

I may be wrong, but it appears to me that Kara is considering telling people that Supergirl and Kara Danvers are one and the same, and the Colonel is trying to talk her out of it.
This is the impression I got, too. But, it's hard to tell from only a few seconds clip.

You know, this makes sense. Why couldn't she just tell the President that her name is Kara Zor-El. After all, it is her name. Well, maybe not the Kara part because some might put two and two together with Alex being her sister. But, she could easily make up some first name to go with Zor-El - who's going to contradict her?

Totally agree! I'm loving the direction they are taking with people challenging Supergirl to reveal her identity. She's been National City savior but now, it seems like she's becoming an outcast. It reminds me a little bit of the time she was on Red K. It took time for Kara to regain people's trust. I love it when Melissa can really sink her teeth in emotional material. I'm also hoping that Lena will be involved in this storyline and help Kara/Supergirl.

Kara I so agree with you - and I so wish that Lena could know who SuperGirl really is and her and Alex help SuperGirl to decide whether or not to reveal to the world who she is. Either way I agree that his trailer shows that SuperGirl is back being the center of attention in her show. This is what fans have been waiting for and I really hope that it comes to fruition.

I agree with both of you but why do the fans have to wait for Supergirl to be the center of attention in her own freaking show. It should have never gotten to that point but that's what happens when you have bad writing and producers who don't know what they are doing. I would like to see Melissa take on the challenge of duel roles. The Rooski and our own Kara. She would knock it out of the park.

I'm so grateful to have seen her on Broadway with Argo sitting right behind me and the both of us in awe of her talent. And then getting to talk to her after the show and tell her that she is a special and talented young lady. It was one of the highlights of my summer.

I was under the impression that Clark and Lois were already married. To find out they are pregnant first says to people that Greg Berlanti’s agenda to make Superman more worldly includes chipping away at the Man of Steel’s moral code. Superman’s code has always been rock-solid — steel-like. But if showing more realism means Superman has to compromise the heroic moral values he has always embodied, then his code shows weakness and he forfeits the title of Superman. He’s just a man with great strength who’s one day doomed to failure. The proposal scene was totally unnecessary and only served to undermine the established characterization of Superman. It’s shoddy story-telling for the sake of an agenda.

I think this was the first trailer that puts Kara at the centre of it all. And, I am looking forward to her arc. It feels like the all the episodes before has been slowly building up this.

What I want for Kara is to have a story that challenges her, has her grow, and eventually emerge a winner. It seems they have reached there.

I've been saying the same thing for a while now when they screwed up Monty's return from the future. They could have continued a great story with Kara and Monty but decided to kill his character. And please don't give me this bs that his arc was over. I lay this entire mess at the doorstep of the executive producer Queller or whatever her name is. She is a disgrace and should leave the show. She should get a lump of coal in her stocking this year. No presents for her.

Off topic, but I'm totally glad Mon-El is gone. I'm sorry, but one of the things I liked the absolute least about seasons 2 and 3 were the romantic relationships, and all the shippers that came with them. One thing I absolutely LOVE about season 4 is that Kara isn't in a relationship, and isn't all broody and depressed because of it.

Until they can write a relationship without it becoming the central focus of the show, I'm fine with absolutely no romance in this show.

Fair enough Kdogg87. I on the other hand enjoyed the romance and humor that was exhibited by these two very talented actors. It was so natural and the chemistry was wonderful. And they took it a step further with there on going romance to this day.
