The only way Reign can fully take over Sam and become the truest form of herself is to kill the one thing holding Sam back from succumbing to the dark side, Ruby. While that was the main point of tonight, we also got to welcome back Betty Buckley as Patricia Arias! Because the team now knows that Sam is Reign, Patricia held some very needed knowledge to overcome Reign. Of course there was proof that the Blight never happened now that the other Legionnaires showed that they were cured via their status pods. All of that led to a great episode, but here are some other points that stood out to us:
- The Legion is Leaving: Because the Blight was contained in our time, the future was also altered and allows for the Legion to head home. That wasn't out of convenience however, the Titan accord (the marriage pact Mon-El and Imra made) could possibly have also been altered due to the changes in history and the need for the Legion to return became dire!
- Ruby is in Lex's Mansion: After the attack on Lena and James in her hotel penthouse, Lena calls the DEO to investigate. It was clear that she was after Ruby and it is here that Alex asks to be included and sent to Ruby's location. Where is that? None other than Lex Luthor's mansion that is at a secret location and is cloaked to the world! It was a pretty awesome reveal!
- Battle at Arias Residence: Patricia makes a realization that she wasn't a good mother to Sam and she feels guilty that what Sam has become might have something to do with her. In the end, Supergirl and J'onn are not able to convince her to leave her home and she confronts Sam as Reign and she ended up being mortally wounded.
- James Asks Lena To Help: Lena is terrified that if she goes to Supergirl with the knowledge that she can make Kryptonite, Supergirl will turn her back on Lena fully. Given how things went before, this isn't an unreasonable conclusion. That said, James knows that innocent people are dying and because of that, she needs to go to Supergirl as an ally and offer this skill as a weapon.
- Imra Tells Mon-El to Stay: With Mon-El's help, team Supergirl's success rate against Reign goes up almost 40%! Also, Imra knew that her mission to save her sister and to destroy the Blight would put her marriage and her life in danger. Now that they were successful, Imra wants to know that Mon-El chooses her with a full heart. It's a reasonable request after what Imra did and that they are at these crossroads. So before the ships goes into the time wormhole, Mon-El returns to Earth.
- Reign finds Ruby: In a moment of desperation, Ruby needs to talk to her mom. She steps outside to make a call which removes her from the mansion dampeners and allows Reign to hear her. Because of this, Alex rushes her to a safe room to buy them enough time until Mon-El and Supergirl can arrive and stop Reign. Using the lesson that Kara learned from M'yrnn, she appeals to Reign's code of honor and makes her stop because Ruby hasn't sinned. This gives Mon-El enough time to crush the enriched Kryptonite that Lena made into bullets that Mon-El uses to fire into Reign and subdue her.
Final wrap up moments. In the elevator, Lena and Kara get to see each other for the first time in weeks. Lena is more than excited to tell her best friend all about what has been going on and ends up spilling the beans about James' choice as well as Lena's distaste for Supergirl now. Kara ends up having to take it on the chin and hearing it told from Lena's perspective hits particularly hard!

P.S...End of the year, Kelly. I know it's like trying to heard feral cats, but... We GOT this!
Actually, the discovery of Sarin was one of those accidents that the history of science is full of. German chemists were trying to come up with an improved insecticide when they accidentally produced the first nerve gases (of which Sarin was one type). (But so was the invention of gunpowder - Chinese alchemists were apparently trying to concoct the legendary "elixir of immortality" when they accidentally discovered the first explosive!)
"Lena Luthor is not "Luthor bad" in the comics, there is always that grey area, but never full on Luthor bad...she shouldn't be here either."
In the original Silver Age Supergirl comics, she was known as "Lena Thorul" (an angram of "Luthor"), and was perhaps Kara's best friend - although she never found out Miss Danvers and Supergirl were the same person. (She was also blond back then!)

LMAO...."slow your roll"...

Suggestion: Continue to critique episodes. But, how about try enjoying the show. Discuss, but be open to listen. And if ya can't find enjoyment, please do all of us non-shippers and Supergirl fans a favor and move along to another show. We're tired of the calls to boycott, the bashing, the mudslinging, the victim-hooding (is that a word??). We all love passion, but goodness, y'all slow your roll
Quote: ! This is so true!
Quote: James is acting like a high school kid that has started dating for the first time instead of an adult who has been in a long-term relationship before regarding his betrayal of Kara. While, I think Kara asked too much of James to spy on Lena, James could have easily told both her and Lena that he isn't going to take sides.
Lena's smirk in the elevator when she told Kara that James lied to SG tells me all I need to know about Lena's character.
? What good would handing over the formula (presumably written) do? Isn't that like locking the barn door after the horses have already gone? Lena probably has the formula stored on at least three hard drives (or flash drives). And she can probably just remember most of it, anyway...
Sorry, Kara - but the genie's already out of the bottle...
True! Kara has PTSD regarding Kryptonite; as does Clark... And unfortunately, after so many years on earth, she has forgotten what vulnerability is under generic conditions. She would not react like a human does who has had a nut allergy all their life.
You have this saying in India: "One burnt with (hot) milk, will drink even (cold) water by blowing on it." It just means, if something has repeatedly hurt you, you are going to bring that experience into something that might look similar and yet is not quite hurtful.
Anyways.. Thanks guys... Because I am learning new things from this; or rather new ways of thinking about characters. :)
James does seem to have worsened the relationship more than Kara herself did in my opinion. Is it the writers' intention to show him as weak and wishywashy?
I do feel sorry for him. I feel the elevator conversation would make Kara think deeply.
Thanks for this, I was about to write up something similar and now I don't have to lol. You said it better than I could.
