"Nevertheless She Persisted" is the title for the finale episode of Supergirl's second season! In an interview with Andrew Kreisberg, Entertainment Weekly reported that the episode's title was influenced by Senator Elizabeth Warren. What the title does do is show us the building clash between the two main villains and Supergirl. It could be said that despite Supergirl's efforts, Rhea persists to take back Mon-El. Also, despite Supergirl's efforts, Lillian Luthor persists to rid Earth of aliens, or finally, despite Rhea and Lillian's evil plans, Supergirl persists to be a beacon of hope!
On top of that, TVline.com has some big spoilers from Andrew Kreisberg as well! SPOILERS AHEAD:
It sounds like Lena and Kara, and Kara and Mon-El are in for some tough times ahead! In the interview with TVline.com, Andrew Kreisberg spoke about what to expect in the final few episodes of the season.
Lena has just suffered a great deal of loss; she lost her brother, she just lost Jack and she’s in a very fragile emotional state. What she could really use is a mother, and her own mother is sadly not up to the task. So along comes Rhea, who’s eager to fill the role of the supportive mother. They become this newfound family, as Rhea’s needing to be a mother, and Lena is needing to be mothered.
Kreisberg goes on to add:
[Kara and Lena’s] loyalty to each other is certainly put to the test. Lena is very firmly on Kara Danvers’ side, but is she on Supergirl’s side? That’s an interesting question that gets asked. We love their relationship, and we think they’re great together. We have some great plans for next season in terms of exploring that relationship and having it travel in new places.
Lena and Kara aren't the only ones who are going to face some hardships, Kara and Mon-El's relationship will be tested too:
By design, [Kara and Mon-El] have always had this tumultuous relationship, but they finally settled into a good place. His parents definitely complicated things for the two of them, but now they seem even more firmly committed to each other, thinking that Rhea has left the planet. Little do they know, she’s up to something sneaky. One thing we’ll ask is: Where exactly do Mon-El’s loyalties lie? He’s already made the decision to stick with Kara over his family, but is he going to be able to abide by that as Rhea’s plans unfolds?
Last but not least, its unfortunate but Kreisberg was able to finally put the last nail in the coffin of a Teri Hatcher, Dean Cain reunion.
Storywise, it became difficult to make that happen, much to my, Dean and Teri’s dismay. There’s an episode in which they both appeared, and even though they weren’t in any scenes together, just to see their names together in the credits blew my mind

evrafter, you raise a very intriguing idea and possibility. This could make for a great subplot.
Argo, I've found you and I tend to lean the same way with ideas. But, on this one...from what I understand from different articles recently, I'm thinking Lena actually doesn't know Kara's identity... And that the rift will be between Lena and Supergirl, but Lena will still look to Kara for friendship.
Now...the writers rupturing Lena/Supergirl while keeping Lena/Kara could prove to be a rather interesting subplot. Especially with Kara trying to figure out how exactly to balance the two "relationships." See what I mean?
I'm sure some won't be happy with this, but Mon-el is here to stay, he is signed on for Season 3, there have been Legion easter egss galore in this episode...so some I'm afraid may be disappointed. As long as they temper down the love bunny stuff, I'm cool....
I don't want Lena to become evil as we've already seen it with Lillian.
plz cite 1 example of abuse done.
I will say that its a bit offensive to people who have been abused to say things like this.
