EXCLUSIVE: Supergirl.tv has learned that actor Sarah Smyth, known for her roles in 50/50, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, and Lockdown, will be recurring on Supergirl this season as Ben Lockwood's wife, Lydia Lockwood. Fans of the Canadian-born actor can expect to see Sarah's character on episodes three (Man of Steel) and six (Call to Action) at the very least. What role will Lydia play on the show or if she even knows what her husband is up to remains a mystery! Don't forget to catch the first all new episode of Supergirl this season on SUNDAY October 14th only on The CW!

I'm seeing concerns about how there are so many regular and recurring characters. I'm honestly not so worried about recurring. Recurring can mean anywhere from 2 or more episodes. But this show has had a problem balancing it's regular characters, and we have 1 more, than last year. We lost 3 (Sam, Winn, Mon-El) and gained 4 (Brainy, Agent Liberty, Nia Nal, and Col. Lauren Hailey).

I know it's hard on Melissa, but I could honestly use a majority of Kara/Supergirl in these episodes, with just little bits of the rest. But who knows, maybe they will find a better balance. I guess we'll learn more about these character dynamics and how they'll balance their cast's screen time in the coming months.
