There is little over a week left before Supergirl returns to our television screens and already fans are curious to know more about Samantha Arias (Reign). We learned at San Diego Comic Con, from our interviews with Executive Producers Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner, that the show will give us a deep dive into who Samantha is and we will watch as she succumbs to being the villain of the season. Today, we can share with you a new piece to that puzzle! Joining the cast as a guest star on the show is Betty Buckley (most recently from M. Night Shyamalan's Split). Buckley will be playing the part of Samantha Arias' adoptive mother, Patricia. She is described as:
Patricia [Arias] is Samantha Arias' (Odette Annable's) adoptive mother. Patricia is honest, but stubborn. She and Samantha have been estranged for many years, the result of Samantha getting pregnant as a teenager. Their troubled relationship is made all the more complex by the secrets Patricia holds.
Fans can look forward to seeing Patricia Arias (Betty Buckley) first appear in episode 307! While it isn't explicitly said, it could be logically concluded that Samantha's pregnancy led to her daughter Ruby. If that is true, then fans (us included) have a whole lot of speculation to jump into because that would make Ruby Arias half Kryptonian, and not just Kryptonian, but a genetically altered half Kryptonian! The possibilities of what that could mean are incredible!

Because Greg Berlanti is a lover of Broadway, and Betty Buckley is the Queen. He has probably been trying to get her for the past 2 seasons and finally her schedule worked out. Heck he has probably tried to get her on "Sisters and Brothers", "Mystery of Laura", "Arrow", "Flash", and finally he got her on Supergirl....LOL
Unlike in the comics where we know Reign is bad,the producers are allowing Reign to develop into the foe that SUPERGIRL will have to face and defeat.
Plus with the child of a Kryptonian and a human we get to see how the child's powers develop.
We will see who finds Reign and allows Patricia to adopt Reign.
We can compare how Kara and Reign were raised on Earth.
Since Reign came as a baby I will assume she was raised similarly as Superman.
Reign looks like a character who is going to be around for quite a few seasons.

I think so too. Something like this might be the 'no return' moment for Reign and also the thing where the DEO just decides that Samantha/Reign lost her parental rights (if she hasn't already due to her crimes)
I have a feeling that there will be another arguement between Samantha and Patricia and durning the arguement reign will take over samantha's body and kill patricia.
That presumes that Reign's mother will survive the season. It's not that atypical of villains to kill their parents
As a single woman working for a government agency like the DEO I think it would be a terrible idea just in the fact that she's putting her life on the line every single day if it were Eliza that would be much more plausible but I have a feeling they will somehow make it her grandmother getting custody which would be even more plausible because in reality they try to place children with a family member first .
