Prom Night Synopsis

"Midvale" the episode remains in our top five episodes of Supergirl for all time. I think a lot of you feel that way too. So the fact that we are going to get to go back to Midvale and not only have one episode with young Kara and young Alex but also enjoy a young Cat Grant aspect to it is simply amazing! But this isn't just a throwaway episode. Apparently this will play a major part in getting Kara out of the Phantom Zone! So spoiler alert already, the way out that Kara finds in the previous episode doesn't seem to pan out. But looking ahead to episode five of the final season, Brainy and Nia are going to have to time travel back to young Kara to get an artifact that will help pull her from the terrible hell Phantom Zone. Check out the full synopsis below:

THE FLASHBACK TO MIDVALE INTRODUCES A YOUNG CAT GRANT – Nia (Nicole Maines) and Brainy (Jesse Rath) attempt to save Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) from the Phantom Zone by time traveling back to Kara’s home in 2009. While determined to secure the item needed to help Supergirl, Brainy is worried about keeping a low profile so as not to alter the future timeline. However, when their ship crashes upon arrival, a young Kara Danvers (guest star Izabela Vidovic) is the first on the scene. Meanwhile, a young reporter named Cat Grant (guest star Eliza Helm) sets her sights on Midvale as she suspects there is a big story in the small town. Alexandra LaRoche directed the episode written by Rob Wright & Jess Kardos (#605). Original airdate 4/27/2021.

The recent time travel episode on Flash was its best episode since Crisis, despite having very little to do with Barry/The Flash. I have high hopes for this trip to Midvale. I am wondering if the item is something they believe Kara has on her person in the PZ and they need it (as in it from the past) to locate her in the present. Is the item connected to her late school friend?

Maybe they should have cast a little older Cat Grant when this is only 6 years before we see her in season 1 as Calista Flockhart

It's one of my favorites for the entire series.

So the time travel rumors when this episode(and episode 6) was filming were right. This sounds like a key episode(not filler) but should be fun one too with Brainy & Nia at the center.

They just did a fun time travel episode of the Flash this week.Cisco & Chester trapped in the late 90's which was also light on the show's lead(Barry only really appears at the end of the episode.)

This sounds like a pilot spinoff, which I don't mind. Midvale episodes are those I look forward to as we will find out how Kara ended up working for Catco.

Sounds like a fun episode. I love time travel in any shape or form. I know this is a stupid question but I'll ask it anyway. If they're going to use the time travel thingy then why not go back and prevent Kara from going to the Phantom Zone in the first place. It appears with time travel you always have an Ace up your sleeve. I still believe that the key to getting Kara out of the Phantom Zone is communication. She does have that gizmo in her ear which would allow the lines to be open.

So this item needed to help Supergirl is why Dreamer saw teenage Kara and Alex in episode 2. I think this item is going to act like a beacon to Kara. The team will figure out how to get into the PZ but not how to locate Kara in it. Kara will figure out how to navigate the PZ but not how to get out. The team will take the item into the PZ in the hope that Kara sees it. Perhaps the team notices Kara’s failed attempt at escape in episode 4 and that’s what prompts Brainy and Nia to go back and get the item.

I am for any Midvale episode where young Kara and Young Alex get to show off their acting talent. Sounds also interesting that we will get to see a young Cat Grant. The episode summary sounds like it will be interesting to see how a young Cat Grant is prevented from making the landing of Nia and Brainy into a top notch newspaper article.

Speaking only for myself, I am not thrilled about an episode in which the only members of our superhero team that are focused on in this episode are Nia and Brainy. I hope SuperGirl will be rescued soon and when she returns I hope we don't have episodes in which Melissa is sorely missing so supporting characters can have solo episodes focused on them.

Hopefully if there is a second Midvale episode - it will involve all the superheroes or at least the present day Alex and Kara. I also don't want to see an episode where Nia and Brainy rescue Kara from the PZ. I will be very disappointed if Alex is not present when Kara is actually found and rescued from the PZ. Sorry, but I want to see some sisterly emotion in some of these last episodes.
