Well, if the Tom Welling news wasn't enough for you (which we highly doubt), there is yet even more news for Supergirl today! According to Deadline.com, two new recurring guest stars have been cast to join this season. They are Gamemnae and Rama Khan. The two are ancient aliens who have been protecting Earth for centuries. They were originally introduced in the comics in 2002 in a JLA comic book. Their magic (in the comic books) is tied to Atlantean magic. Cara Buono has been cast to play Gamemnae who is described as:

An ancient alien, who with others of her kind, have been safeguarding the Earth from the follies of humanity throughout the ages. Gamemnae’s aim is to use technology to subjugate humans. Gamemnae is cunning, witty, ruthless, and always ten steps ahead of her adversaries. Gamemnae’s agenda puts her into conflict with her would-be allies and on a collision course with Supergirl.

Additionally, Mitch Pileggi will play Rama Khan who is described as:

An ancient alien who is able to control the four ancient elements — fire, water, earth, and air. Arrogant and willful, Rama Khan has been entrusted to use his powers to protect the Earth from mankind for millions of years but now his agenda puts him at odds with Supergirl as well as Lena Luthor.

Hmm...kind of like The Thinker from Flash Season 4. And the use of tech to enslave humans, look this is another social commentary which last season was ham-fisted. But, given how I am not a real techno-geek, but not a technophobe like my mom (sorry mom!) and how I am sick to death of people always looking down at their (NOT SO) SmartPhones, I may sympathize with "The Game" as I will call this villain...but evil is still evil.

So Rama Khan is basically an evil or corrupted Avatar? Aang and Korra would be so disappointed. Actually the part I’m hopeful about is that he’s at odds with both Kara and Lena. A common adversary is a good way to mend fences.

I'm a fan of this. Despite the show still having a social commentary, this time on our over-reliance on technology, there is more of an air of escapism, it would seem, with our antagonists once again being Alien or Meta-Human threats.

Social commentary is great, but I personally need that escapism, too. The world seems so dire, so I'd like to use entertainment to get away from that.
