Phantom Menaces Synopsis

We are less than a week away from the big premiere of Supergirl season 6. We've been able to see it ahead of schedule and we must say it is action-packed with TONS of content. That said, as with all things Covid-19 related, you will need to take this with patience. The show really didn't finish correctly last season. While it is technically the premiere episode, it feels very much like a season finale and there is obviously a reason for it. Just as any good season finale, the show ends with a pretty big cliffhanger. It's due to this cliffhanger that the third episode after the premiere, now titled "Phantom Menaces" has a very short and sweet synopsis:

BATTLE OF WITS – Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) makes a new ally. Lena (Katie McGrath) and Lex (guest star Jon Cryer) battle for control of Luthor Corp. Sudz Sutherland directed the episode written by Dana Horgan & Emilio Ortega Aldrich (#603). Original airdate 4/13/2021.

We can't say much but we think you all will love the season premiere and where these next seven episodes will take us. Let us know what you think in the comments below and in our forum! Keep us advertisement free and visit the support page!

Quoting LibertyPrime:
Sad that (potentially) spoilery episode titles have to be released that far in advance.
I agree it’s kinda sad but releasing episode titles is standard procedure and some would be wondering it TPTB didn’t do it. As far as spoilers I’m more concerned that how the series ends will wind up being spoiled. I remember the ending of season three leaked and I hated that. Can we have an agreement within this site that should the series ending get leaked we don’t talk about it at all even in the forum. I don’t mean episode titles and synopsis in the news feed, the admins have posted those from the beginning and should continue to do so. I’m proposing something like if you think you should put a spoiler warning on something just don’t say it at all.

Still--sounds like a promising concept. Let's get this party started!

Well, I guess the title change from Phantom of the Opera to Phantom Menaces kills the musically aspect of the episode. :sigh: Maybe down the road we'll get to see Melissa knocking out a couple of songs.
I'm also guessing going through labor pains and giving birth is like being trapped in a Phantom Zone so it kinda fits. :-? I'll be tuned in for the finale....I mean premier this coming Tuesday. :o

We saw Lex with the Phantom Zone device in the season 6 trailer, so I assume Kara gets zapped with it and is her new friend Jason Behr? I assume the original name of the episode was to throw us off the Phantom Zone angle.

The short synopsis makes sense as they don't want too much spoilage.

I personally think this is good. S5E19 made for a good finale. Supergirl finales are really good and action packed. So much so, that I typically find the subsequent premiere to be slow and off-putting in comparison.

I am totally psyched!

Pithy. And though not a fan of Star Wars, I still get a lot of the cast and crew are fans of the film franchise...including queen geek Melissa.

To put some context on it...Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace came out in 1999. I'll let this part from its Wikipedia page finish the rest for this hit film...

Quote:
Despite its mixed critical reception, The Phantom Menace was a financial success, breaking many box office records in its debut, and beating out The Mummy by taking number 1.

It broke The Lost World: Jurassic Park's records for the largest single-day gross for taking more than $28 million in the opening day and fastest to gross $100 million in five days.

It grossed $64.8 million in its opening weekend, the second-ever highest at the time. It also became the quickest film to reach the $200 million and $300 million marks, surpassing Independence Day (1996) and Titanic (1997) respectively.

The Phantom Menace was 1999's most successful film, staying in the Top 10 until August 5 (11 weeks total), earning $431.1 million in the United States and Canada.
Andrew Lloyd Webber to George Lucas...Supergirl hanging with the GOATs despite this change in title.

First yeah,I think we knew that the premiere is basically the last season's finale. The Flash was sort of in the same boat and took it's first three episodes to wrap up it's season 6 storyline. At least with the finale becoming this season's premiere,we don't have to wait three to four months to resolve the episode 1 cliffhanger.

As for the synopsis for this episode. This confirms Lex is still around post premiere and episode 2.

Interesting they changed the title of this episode from 'Phantoms of the Opera' to 'Phantom Menaces.'Certainly a nod to Star Wars Episode I.

I'm wondering if Supergirl's new ally is Jason Behr's character. There is a lot of speculation of him being Zor-El.I speculated in the News post about his casting on some elements they could draw from the comics for Zor-El.

Also I'm now leaning more to Kara getting trapped in the Phantom Zone as the premiere cliffhanger. For Kara, that would be a waking nightmare since she was trapped there for years in her pod as a child.Maybe she meets her father there.A play on the 1984 Supergirl movie where Kara found her mentor Zaltar(Peter O'Toole) there.

I have to say that it is exciting coming here and seeing new information as frequently as we are seeing it. Also, I LOVE the fact that we are seeing alot of Melissa. Looks like SuperGirl is really going to be focused on this season - it's about time and I just can't wait for this ride that we are all going to be a part of.

Kind of cute that the show traded off an Andrew Lloyd Webber reference for Star Wars...cue one of the new recurring characters who hasn't been named yet. Wonder if the new guy ever met Mon-El... :)

Not a lot to go on, but it sounds like Melissa will be involved. That's huge, in my book. I hope reality bears it out.
