Less than a week! We are so very close to a new episode of Supergirl and this one is being acclaimed as the debut of the Legion of Superheroes! How can we not be excited? Of course The CW is helping to raise that excitement with another all new trailer for the first episode of 2018! This time the trailer is double-stuffed featuring a full minute-worth of footage! Reign looks to be taking orders from her holographic mentor in her own Fortress of Sanctuary and Kara is trapped in her own mind, seemingly by her own doing ... Check it out below:

I agree, Sam is very likable and a great character in that we have watched the rise of Reign within her. But, people need to be clear on something...."Reign" was why Odette got the job, Sam was the tool to bring the drama, empathy and down right gut wrenching pain when Reign wins out in the end. Without "Reign" Sam would simply be another "what the heck do we do with this person" character. I think they are seeing that with Lena, in that she is a Luthor....SO USE THAT angst, inner conflict, etc. I think we will be seeing that in the near future.
I wish there was some way to keep Odette as Sam, too but, if I had to choose which to keep around, Reign would be the sure choice for me. And sorry to say, but if they could split the character in some way - I would gladly exchange Sam for a couple of other characters that are currently in place on the show.
I have my doubts personally, but I can't fault fans rooting for it. I have to say though, I find Odette a lot more interesting than "Sam". Sam is nice but not that interesting. I think Odette is much more mesmerizing as Reign.
Retaining Sam and Ruby post this season would make the show have too many regulars; which wouldn't work if it doesn't off some of the original regulars and I don't want the original regulars to go.
Let us hope Odette gets a cool show of her own, which we all can watch.
Oh I absolutely agree with the both of y'all. It would feel less authentic if Reign AND Sam weren't destroyed/sent off world. I'll just really really miss Odette.
Let’s give the much maligned writers some credit, along with great acting from Odette they have succeeded in making us love Sam. That was exactly the plan, so we’re heartbroken when she goes evil. Supergirl can most definitely try to redeem her friend, I think that’s an important lesson for Kara that she can’t always save people from themselves. But as I’ve said before in the end I want unequivocally evil and unredeemable Reign. Anything else is a waste of this great Supergirl only villain. Totally agree with Kelly, Sam has no purpose after this season.
But think about it, once she was no longer Reign what purpose would she serve in the show? Another friend? Kara has plenty of friends.
Or, they could do something crazy where they somehow switch the DNA (evil) from Sam and it transfers into another villain and they become a Worldkiller (Reign) and they retreat for a time to come back later.
But, if not.....no to Sam and Reign separating and Reign no longer being alive in her.
I say this of love for the show, I don't intend on sounding pessimistic.
