I also have to agree with you Eire El that is very possible - very good pick up.
That is very possible...
That's certainly nothing new - it's always been part of her personality. She's always been impulsive.
Check out this panel from Action Comics #339, back in 1966.
I certainly wouldn't say that just flying full speed ahead smack into the force field around Brainiac's space ship constitutes much of a plan!

The audience and Alex knows Maggie is aware of Kara's secret but its never been definitively clear if Kara knows of Maggies awareness just assumed. Even when Kara tried to stop Alex going after Jeremiah and Maggie was in the room, it was as ambiguous as the Livewire conversation in the jail cell.

Some comics have done a pretty good job of illustrating the rationale behind the "secret identity" trope. A few years back a supreme assassin in the DC universe named David Cain figured out that Bruce Wayne was Batman, because a 20-something Bruce had trained with him in Martial Arts years before he put on the cowl, not realizing what his teacher was.
When the two later fought with Bruce in costume, Cain recognized his fighting style. The assasin decided to keep the secret to himself to use later on.
Then Lex Luthor hired Cain to destroy Bruce Waynes's life because Bruce had crossed him in a business deal. Without telling Lex about the secret identity, Cain waited until he knew Bruce was on patrol as Batman and lured one of Bruce's former society "girlfriends", who he had had a public arguement with, to Wayne Manor and killed her, setting him up for her murder. It took months and a fugitive arc, in which Bruce contemplated giving up his non-Batman persona completely, for him to clear his name.
So, yeah, depending on the writing, maintaining a secret identity can look like a very good idea.
As someone who didn't really read comic books growing up, talking with friends who did and being fans of the comic book movies one of the most irritating things to me is the "secret identity" stuff. Spiderman, Batman, etc were all so...."if they know they could be put in danger"....blah, blah, blah....NOT KNOWING puts them in danger far more. The Fantastic Four are well known it never hurt them. The whole identity thing is just dumb IMO. So the fact that many know who Kara is, is just not a big deal to me. Although it has brought out the biggest plot hole of both seasons in my opinion. ( I find most plot holes to be easily explained ) but the fact that Lillian doesn't know that Kara Danvers is Supergirl is weird....you have to think that Hank Henshaw told her because he knows.
Also, sometimes to expand and create new episodes villains knowing her identity create interesting plots. Now it's a definite that SuperGirl does make mistakes - that is one of the great things about this show, she is still learning. No one is perfect all the time and how many times do family or people tell us things and we think we know better and we don't even have super powers to back us up. I think that is what makes the character real and the show exciting. I've also seen Kara give good advice and it not be listened to. An example would be in the episode "Welcome to Earth" when 14 minutes, 21 seconds into the episode, Alex went after MonEl thinking at the time that MonEl was and had the strength of a Kryptonian and didn't wait for SuperGirl. Like Kara told her "Make smarter choices next time." I also think that no matter how many relationships you bring into the show, the Alex/Kara relationship is the strongest and as I have mentioned before, the foundation of the show. It's here to stay.
did you know the creators of superman didnt want to go the route of having a secret identity.
