And it can work because this version of Supergirl is not totally invulnerable to everything but kryptonite. We've seen her be knocked around (or even knocked out) by high-explosive bombs, high-voltage electricity, and super-hot gas blasts. These are all things that human villains could come up quite easily, provided they had both money and some brains.
Here's a possible scenario: a heavily armed gang robs a major bank in National City. Before taking off, they dump 5 gallons of gasoline on the floor, along with a wallet attached to a string. The other end of the string is hooked up to a gas-grill lighter, but is concealed behind a teller's booth. SG comes along, breaks down the door, and sees the wallet. Figuring it may have one of the gang member's ID, she picks it up and pulls the string. The result is a gigantic fireball and explosion that blows Kara clear across the street, and leaves her dazed and confused, at least for a while....
I hear ya Stew. Gotta throw in a little variety. Sure it may be your garden variety crook like art thieves, but it takes things off a little of those supervillain and aliens.
They should read them Stewart, you have some good ideas especially around Supergirl being involved in the community and interviewed on TV. Something that would be nice to see a little of in the TV show.

You’ll get a tidbit about Maggie’s background during the Valentine’s Day episode, but there’s more to come down the line. “There’s a storyline coming up where it’s not really about Alex and Maggie’s relationship, it’s more about Maggie as a cop getting caught up in an art heist,” EP Andrew Kreisberg tells me.

If they want to give her some of Guardians time, then great....other than that, not sure I want to give up anyone else's story right now. Later maybe...
And in the trailers, Chyler as she is drinking her coffee has this funny reaction to that statement. And let me say this episode will I think be played for slightly more laughs than the past ones.
And yes, Melissa is totally gorgeous in that wedding dress.
