How did she lose him as Kara Danvers? She was Kara Zor-El with him, her full self. She didn't have to revert to her Danvers persona around him.
I understand the anger and despair arc they're going for, I just can't see why it's being dropped onto Kara Danvers' shoulders when that 'alter-ego' isn't the one losing loved ones, but Kara Zor-El is.

She lost Mon-el as Kara Danvers....and she feels (as she has often felt in the comics) that the human side of her weakens her. She is showing the angst, anger, and aloofness she has often shown in the New 52 issues. Not sure why people are so surprised, this is New 52 all over the place. That may not be this or that person's favorite version of SG, but it certainly isn't something new or out of character for Supergirl. AND BESIDES, we will see that smile once again before the end of this episode I'm sure. Chyler and Melissa slam dunked that scene, beautifully acted....and LOVING seeing "Kick Arse Kara" again.....her easiness of that fight was wonderful to see. The earlier sneak peek (the board room) hopefully within the scope of the entire episode it is much more enjoyable. I'll wait to see that....
In other words there were other things building up inside Kara and then Mon-El's leaving lit the fuse so to speak?
I cried inside. Outside I felt anguish.
Darker than Arrow? And notice there is a green thumbs up sign on posts?
I know some people are annoyed that she’s like this over Mon-El, but to be honest I don’t think he’s as big a part of it as you might think. His leaving was the instigator, sure, but it is Kara's guilt that she had to send him away, after promising that they wouldn’t have to use the lead bomb. It would also have brought up the loss of her parents and planet. She also lost a part of Kara Zor-El. She didn’t get to be Kara Zor-El with many people, one of those being Mon-El. At the moment she’s trying to not have to think about whether or not Mon-El is actually alive or if she just sent him away to die alone. It’s heartbreaking and all of this could easily spiral into a depression which I believe she’s in. In bad patches you just try to push everyone away so they can’t break through your walls, so you can’t be helped.
