Caution, spoilers ahead for episode 402. Tonight's all new episode of Supergirl had Supergirl weathering the tide of the coming fear movement pretty well but the Graves siblings are ruthless and have changed the game for Kara! As we saw in the last few moments of the episode, the atmosphere is flooded with Kryptonite and Supergirl came crashing to the ground. The DEO and J'onn struggle to figure out how to keep Kara safe when her adoptive planet has literally become toxic for her! Check out the trailer for episode 3 "Man of Steel" below:

Quote: Alex's ability or skills seem to fluctuate over the years. First season, she was the expert on Kryptonian physiology and was somewhat seen as a specialist in Kara's care, along-side a physician. She also was described as someone of very high intellect. So, I don't think that it would be a stretch to believe that when combining her intelligence, her extensive background knowledge on biomedical engineering and the practical experience she has had in the DEO's medical triage unit, she could pass as a physician.
I think that Alex has mostly been showcased as a kick-ass agent but, I would love to see them spend more time highlighting her intelligence and her ability to come up with scientific solutions at the DEO. However, they seemed to have pushed that role over to Lena and now Brainy.
I know, but with the arrival at first of Winn au Deo and the omnipresence of Lena as a scientist. Alex was mainly relegated as a doctor during season 3. And considering the summary of the next episode, it is not this season that she will regain her role as Bio Engineer.
Wasn't the diffuser originally said to have been designed by Lex Luthor? Also, I don't believe we were ever specifically told that Lena invented the synthetic kryptonite. I recall that there was a lot of speculation last season that she may have access to Lex's formulas and lab procedures. (In the comics, Lex first synthesized kryptonite in 1949!)
"With this in mind, I hope that despite her leadership role, we will find Alex's Physician side for Supergirl in addition to her sister role."
According to Sterling Gates' "Adventures of Supergirl" comics series, Alex is actually a biomedical engineer by training (rather than a physician).

But unlike last time, they will not have the technology of the future available. With this in mind, I hope that despite her leadership role, we will find Alex's Physician side for Supergirl in addition to her sister role.
For Lena, if it seems impossible that she does not know the identity of Supergirl. I wish she did not know, because unlike her super fans, I can not forget her multiple betrayals last season. And for me, if she knew that Kara was Supergirl at that time, it would be even worse. I do not think that learning it now would be really beneficial.
Quoting Stars16: Since there’s plenty of BTS shots of Melissa filming later episodes in the skirted suit I think the Kryptontite will be cleared by the end of episode four. That face covering suit was one way to compensate for Melissa’s absence. No way they want to continue covering her face.
