Anyone who watched the Animated Adventures of Superman will remember Mercy Graves, Lex Luthor's personal body guard. According to Deadline.com, Mercy is going to be making her way to National City this season in a new recurring role! The amazing Rhona Mitra has been tapped for the role ("Boston Legal" & "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans"). Mercy is described as:

Based on the iconic DC character, Mercy Graves (Mitra) is an ex-CADMUS agent who has always believed in human exceptionalism. But with both Lex and Lillian in prison, Mercy is stepping out of the Luthor shadow and running her own show. With her biting wit and lethal brawn, Mercy steadily becomes a key figure in National City’s growing “human-first” movement.

In addition to the casting news, Robert Baker has also taken a new recurring role. He'll be playing the part of Otis Graves, Mercy's brother. His character is described as:

Otis Graves is Mercy’s defacto right hand man. What he lacks in brains, he makes up for with his savant-like abilities to assassinate aliens. Otis is a character from the Superman movies with Christopher Reeve and has not been featured in comic books.

Season 4 is starting to shape up and a theme of this Humanity first in the wake of the terror Reign caused is to be expected. How will the DEO, Supergirl, and Catco deal with the new fear sweeping the city?

As long as the characters revolve around Kara/Supergirl's story, I'm fine. But stories like Guardian/Lena and James, Alex and Maggie, Alex adoption story line, etc do not, and they take up screen time that I would much rather go to Kara/Supergirl. So as long as these characters are a part of a storyline that centers on Kara, I'm fine with them being added.

I feel like they are making the same mistake they made in previous seasons, too many 'add on' characters and not enough focus.

I know its outside regular Comic Book Canon but Otis did appear regularly in the Smallville Season 11 comics.

I have to admit it seems like Supergirl has an awful lot of villains to contend with this season. A little too villain heavy, perhaps?
