Laurie Metcalf Guest Stars

TVline.com has learned that Laurie Metcalf, known for playing Roseanne‘s Jackie Harris from 1988 to 1997 has been cast as Winn Schott's estranged mother. In Season 1 we learned all about Winn's father, The Toyman, and his sick and twisted ways of getting revenge, but what is in store for Winn and revisiting with his biological mother is anyone's guess. Fans can look forward to this Winn-centric episode in 2018. It is scheduled to be episode 315. On a more endearing note, Metcalf told Vanity Fair that her initial interest in the part was because she wanted to get close to the show so her daughter could meet her idol, Melissa Benoist. How cute is that!

As long as Kara is the still the central focus, I'm down for another Winn story. Though I thought the story was a little weak in the first season, I'm happy to give the writers this season their chance at a little more onion peeling on Winn.

Agree with this statement 100%. I am all for seeing more of Winn as long as Kara is still the central focus.

I'm glad for this because so far, Winn is practically invisible this season.

Yes, not only has Winn been absent this season, so has Jonn and Jimmy. It's been Ladies night for the entire season so far. Which is fine but at some point you have to switch gears. I'm sorry but the show has been spinning it's wheels and the direction is no where.
this seems to be a theme for all the shows right now I'm enjoying it. About time the ladies got time due them in the superhero TV shows more power to them.

I look forward to a Winn storyline. I also thought the Sam/Kara/Lena stuff wasn't handled very well. It kinda hard to buy Kara calling Lena sister when she's constantly lying to her and of course call a character who both just befriended sister. It doesn't feel very genuine. Odette seems like a lovely actress but the writing seemed really forced there. I think they should have made her only Kara's friend rather than trying to juggle making her both Kara and Lena's friend because they don't seem to be very good at juggling that. I think season 2 was better at giving people storylines that felt like they were going from episode to episode, even if sometimes they weren't the storylines that people wanted like in the case of the Guardian storyline.

This will certainly be an interesting addition and development in the Winn storyline. I wonder if daddy will also make a surprise reappearance in S3 at some point. After all, it's extremely hard to keep a psychopathic genius and murderer extraordinaire locked up for long. ;-)

It's about time we get a Winn story. Please don't make James his go-to emotional talk guy though, please let him at last have a real conversation with Kara

It made me upset the last time he had a small talk convo with Kara, Alex treated him with some hostility or something.

It'll be nice to see a bit more focus on Winn and his family and good casting choice to play Winn's mom. Even though she is apparently playing Winn's estranged mother, Laurie Metcalf has great comedic timing so, I hope that the writer's are able to utilize that ability in some way. I can easily see Jeremy and Laurie playing off each other's humor to make a very funny duo.
