Kevin Smith, fan favorite director, annouced he's going behind the camera and in control of another episode of Supergirl coming up in season three. The now three-time director of the series will score his hat trick for direction in episode 305. The news came to us directly from the director via a tweet today at 12:55pm PST. The episode is written by Eric Carrasco and Cindy Lichtman and is tentatively scheduled to air as the first episode in November (Nov. 6th, 2017 8pm on The CW). Serendipitously, the director actually shared a plane to Vancouver BC with series star Melissa Benoist. The director tweeted he was excited to see her, but was disappointed she actually needed the plane to fly:

Glad to hear that. I love his Flash episodes more than his Supergirl episodes, but I like his Supergirl episodes well enough.

Yeeeeesss! I love the Kevin Smith directed episodes and have been rewatching them in the summer break.

By the way if anyone else is a fan of Kevin Smith there is a great 50 minute documentary on The Flash Season 2 DVD called Chasing Flash: The Journey of Kevin Smith well worth a watch.

I thought that it was episode 4 Smith was directing, one where I had some concerns about making Supergirl a sort of cult figure...MY HUMBLE APOLOGIES. Since it's episode 5...one in which nothing I know about...my mind is kept open on this.

Episode co-writer Eric Carrasco worked with Kevin last season, so the episode already looks like it'll be an easy fit for the director's strengths again this time around. The cast always seems to get an emotional lift from Smith hanging around the set as well.
