Tomorrow is Supergirl's second episode, "Triggers", in season 3. Our Girl of Steel is going to be facing her biggest fears when going up against the villain Psi. While that is where the main action is, Kara is going to be returning to work at Cat Co with a brand new boss! Lena Luthor! Who better to tell us about what Lena's journey is going to be this season than Lena Luthor herself, Katie McGrath! Check out the interview below:

It's unfortunate that you feel this way starlord. But couldn't it also be said that those who are very much in favor of an Evil!Lena only do so because they prefer an opposing ship? Let's not reduce people's opinions to shipping preferences and let's not start with the 'it'll never happen' stuff either, I think we've had enough of that here to last a lifetime.
The problem with Lena showing how much of a Luthor she is is that she's shown time and time again that she isn't like them and that she doesn't want to be like them. To have her start going bad now would be silly. I think a lot of people want a morally grey Lena, I know I do (and apparently so does evrafter). I'd take a Lena that struggles with making decisions for the right reasons but in the wrong ways and butts heads with Supergirl. I think an Evil!Lena is in the cards but not anytime soon, maybe a few seasons from now. We need to see her growth and downfall for it to be a compelling story.
There's variations of the dynamic between Kara and Lena like evrafter has pointed out. So if tptb decide to forgo the typical Superman/Lex dynamic with Kara/Lena they wouldn't be going against any Supergirl mythos.
Ohhhh...yes, ma'am. Agree! Good call by the writers/show runners.
Yeah, from Wiki, but I get it through Comic Vine...
What it actually sounds like they did was they took that xenophobic characteristic of Lena and her hatred of Superman because of what he did to Lex and created Lillian...
That is until good ole MXY came along, and Lena got to see Supergirl for her true self, outside of her narrow view of her. We must be reading the same wiki. lol
So, where the show really diverts from the comics is both know Lena's heritage, and Lena adores Supergirl anyway. Thus, the show can now go in any direction it wants. Hoping we still get some grey area to keep things suspenseful.
As long as Kara's identity is secret that can happen....HOWEVER, in Ep. 1 Lena called Supergirl an inspiration and mentor. I can actually see that more. I saw that (Inspiration/Mentor) relationship much more than I've seen a best friend relationship develop....still waiting on that one.
As far as them being best friends, that is because NEITHER know the others true identity. Lena went by Lena Thorul when they were in boarding school together. Kara didn't know she was a Luthor and Lena didn't know that Linda Lee was Supergirl. In that incarnation Lena is very xenophobic....

Actually, in the comics...Lena and Kara are best friends. In some versions, Lena hates Supergirl--blames the Supes for what happens to Lex; but, later seems to forgive Supergirl. So....no....not really against any Supergirl mythology, I believe
Quote: I'd NEVER "ship" these two together. And, I'm not totally down with Lena turning evil. Though, I also don't necessarily want her being TOO perfect, either. I love how Katie plays her in the grey area.
Katie is Irish. Apologies in advance for sounding political but Ireland is a separate country. We fought for and thankfully won our independence from britain just like the USA did.
Judging by all the comedy produced in Ireland of which Father Ted is one of the most popular, our style of comedy tends to involve a lot of Irish slang and word play with some double entendre and a lot of cursing, quite different to the cheekiness and slap stick of British comedy.
Given the current storm "Ophelia" blowing through the country, here is a very popular and funny (in Ireland) viral video sample. Advanced warning, those sensitive to four letter words may not want to watch this. Much more importantly Parents should definitely review first before deciding if appropriate: https://youtu.be/tCfv1cUFAug
Quoting RobertAnthony:
I can’t help feel those that do not want this are shipping Lena and Kara. Which will never happen on the show anyway. So i really can’t see what the problem is with Lena showing how much a Luthor she really is.
Yes, I agree. The way I envisioned it in my fan fiction is probably closest to your #1. In my story, Lena plays the crucial role in freeing Supergirl when she is being held hostage. (It involved Lex and his henchmen.) When she couldn't get hold of Kara, Lena contacted Alex with her "inside info". Kara then decided that Lena should know the truth, and chose to tell her (and show her via a shirt rip) in person.
