The fourth episode of Supergirl's fifth season welcomes Jay Faerber as a writer. He is partnered with Jess Kardos on this episode. As we've reported earlier in the synopsis, this episode's description starts out by stating "Saying Goodbye is Hard to Do". Judging by the photos below, this could be Mehcad Brooks' last episode. Of course, Kelly and James are in hiding until Supergirl can capture J'onn's brother and with the whole gang back together at the bar, does this mean Ma'alefa'ak is done for? If thats the case, then we are once again, sidelining Supergirl for another Superhero....so I hope that he isn't that important in the crossover.
I'm not sure that its just me not liking the Martian storyline, as much as it seems that what we have seen thus far could have been done in one episode rather than what seems to me as a retelling of the same thing each episode. I get it I get the connection.....but seeing Jonn on the floor every episode because some kind of mind hurt thing is getting old. So I guess in short, the background you are talking, in my humble opinion, could have been taken care of in one episode. Its like they are telling it every episode, just in a little different way. I GET IT.......I GET IT....... LOL
I really hope we see crossovers outside of Crisis. Other than a Supergirl/Batwoman World's Finist, I'd really like to see Supergirl visit Blank Lightning. It would be cool if Gambi and Lillian Luther share a past. I'd like to ship those two. I'd also like to see Legends travel back to encounter young (teenage) Kara and Alex, assuming the merge happens.
Despite some of the flaws in the show, I have to say that I love this show and its the
best thing on Sunday night.
Everyone on "Supergirl" is still "blissfully" ignorant of what's to come (the episodes still delve on to the characters' own issues). I guess for some fans who don't really care much about CoIE, that is a good thing for as long as it takes, but I think the obvious connection to CoIE will start when the Monitor shows up (LaMonica Garrett tweeted a picture of him as the Monitor at the DEO set weeks ago). I personally can't wait for "Supergirl" to start tell stories related to CoIE.
Quoting Brierrose:

Everything since the start of the season up to December and beyond in all of the CW's Berlantiverse shows is/are COIE-related.
But to address your theory, it's quite plausible and a likely candidate for application. If they start going into pocket universes to escape the anti-Monitor, it's a strong likelihood that inception will have something to do with it.
Nonetheless, it's certainly something to chew on as we await the oncoming runaway train called COIE.
