Immortal Kombat Synopsis

When David Harewood got to get behind the directors chair for the second to last episode of the season, we don't think that he even considered that it would actually be the finale of the season. That said, we love when David directs and we can't wait to see this! Looking through the synopsis, it seems like a lot of the loose threads are going to start being tied up. Supergirl will have to work with Lena, Brainy and Dreamer will have to figure out what is going on between then and the team will need to stop both Leviathan and Lex Luthor! Certainly there is a lot to digest here! We can't wait, check out the full synopsis below:

DAVID HAREWOOD DIRECTED THIS PENULTIMATE EPISODE   – Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) realizes that in order to stop Lex (guest star Jon Cryer) and Leviathan she must work with the one person she never thought she’d trust again – Lena (Katie McGrath).  Nia (Nicole Maines) keeps dreaming about Brainy (Jesse Rath) but struggles with what the dreams are trying to tell her.  Meanwhile, Brainy realizes there is only one way to stop Lex. David Harewood directed the episode with story by Derek Simon and teleplay by Emilio Ortego Aldrich & Nicki Holcomb (#519).  Original airdate 5/17/2020.

#31 two combined episodesdaryl772003 2020-05-17 10:36
i have a feeling it's going to feel rushed no matter what. i feel bad for whoever directed the episode they had to cut because they are just getting zero credit and they had to combine the two episodes

Should be an interesting watch to see how the combined Episode 19 and 20 footage turns out. I'm hoping that a lot of the Kara/Supergirl scenes from the 2 episodes make it into this 1 so we can have a season finale full of our beloved heroine.

Quoting muckle9999:
I dare say that Lena is the hero of this finale.

Hope not, it needs to be Supergirl all the way.

A recent interview with Cryler suggest the 5x20 scenes will be held for the season 6 premiere. The penultimate could possibly air as is and just function as the finale.

What does kryptonite have to do with destroying Batwoman? We will find out next week on the Batwoman season finale.

The Blacklist is using animation to fill in the holes of its finale and One Day at a Time is also doing an animated episode in response to Covid... It would be cool if Arrowverse did a Superfriends inspired animation special.

Well Supernatural did a Scooby-Doo episode though I am not a fan of Supernatural...I LOVED that episode and it got quite the buzz on social media. And it was a kick for WPIX 11 fans who remember watching Scoob and the gang back in the day. Same for Superfriends. Sadly though, many of the voices for the original show including Olan Soule and Adam West (Batman) , Casey Casem (Robin), and Danny Dark (Superman) are dead. But, Shanon Farnon (Wonder Woman) is still much alive.

I loved the Supernatural Scooby episode. I was a big fan of Superfriends. Lot of great voice talent. Casey was also Shaggy and we did have Bat and Robin on Scooby Doo too.

I was thinking a new take on the Superfriends using the Flash Central City Hall of Justice and the Arrowverse characters and voices.

I was speculating, like many, we'd get Superman & Lois in the fall and Supergirl at mid season, possibly kicking off with the annual crossover. Now, I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't get a crossover as they likely will need to limit the number of cast and crew working together.

It sounds like Leviathan will be wrapped up and the cliffhanger may involve Lex and Brainiac 5.

I was also wondering if they were going to add any new "social distancing-esq" filmed scenes to get to the ending or strictly use what was shot before production shutdown.

According to Jesse, both the 18th and 19th episode could have worked as a good finale. For those wishing not having the season ending with a cliffhanger might be disappointed...

Jesse says : "This week’s is too, but 19 could really function as a finale. It’ll just end on a cliffhanger that we’ll have to wait until the next season premiere to wrap up."

Holy long wait!!!!!!!

I just plan to relish these last two episodes of the season since we probably won't have a new episode until sometime in early 2021,I'm thinking.

That may even go for the other Arrowverse shows too depending on how things continue to play out regarding COVID-19.

Many figured Supergirl may start mid-season next year due to Melissa's maternity leave especially since they couldn't do that rumored April Season 6 shooting due to the virus breakout. But I wouldn't be surprised if the other Arrowverse shows end up launching around the same time if shooting is delayed until late Summer or early Fall depending on how things shake out with the virus and when filming is allowed to begin in Vancouver with international shows(which The CW series are).I figure they will use local shows as a test run first.

I am assuming, possibly incorrectly, that the synopsis/description of 5x19 is from the original conception and not revised since it was decided to end the season early at 5x19. As many pointed out, the description still indicates it is the penultimate episode instead of the finale. It only mentions David Harewood as the director but if the retooled finale is a mashup of 5x19 and 5x20, there should be a mention of the director from 5x20, who wasn't Harewood. Although Harewood is likely the primary director for the overall majority. I was curious if they would change or tweak the final title, which doesn't appear to be the case. Jesse Rath indicated he was unsure which scenes filmed between Brainy and Nia would be included in 5x19 and suggested some scenes may be held for season 6. He did indicate many great scenes between Brainy and Lex that would be included in 5x18 and 5x19, as well as scenes with Meaghan Rath. I can't help but feel they may be tweaking post production on the mashup down to the wire and just opted not to update the 5x19 description. Jesse's interview was with CBR.com.

Thank you. Yes could be the case that its worded incorrectly.

A sneak peek with Sean Astin is released. That set looks impressive. SG still showing how its done on sets compared to other shows with sets SG look cinematic. Plus guest Stars is top class too
