We already saw John Wesley Shipp put on his 1990's Flash costume and reprise his role as Barry Allen on last year's Elseworlds crossover event. We even saw some familiar costumes from Smallville and other shows that preceded the Arrowverse. Well today, Deadline.com is reporting that Crisis on Infinite Earths will once again dive into the history of DC and ask a familar face to suit up as Superman! Of course Supergirl fans know that the Arrowverse's Superman is played by Tyler Hoechlin! His reviews have been incredibly well received as his portrayal of the Man of Steel likened much to the Christopher Reeve's version. However, he won't be the only Man of Steel. Brandon Routh, who is currently Ray Palmer on Legends of Tomorrow also played the roll in the 2006 movie, Superman Returns. According to Deadline.com, his version of Superman will make an appearance in the mega-crossover event as well!
What do you think of the multi-superman idea? Could we see other Karas? Other Arrows? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and in the forum! Keep us advertisement free and visit the support page!

Definitely cool news to hear about Burt Ward being in CoIE, I'm only expecting it to be a short cameo maybe something like William Katt (The Greatest American Hero) had in the Crisis on Earth X crossover as the minister of Barry and Iris's wedding. It will be cool all the same to see Burt.
The same as Burt Ward will guest star on Crisis (not sure what role though).

Can you imagine Brandon Routh wearing Henry Cavill's MoS suit? The reason I came up with this is because the MoS suit's symbol was based on Earth-2 Superman's.
"This is really happening and I couldn’t be more giddy!
And Supergirl fans — don’t worry, there’s incredible stuff for Kara in this crossover, too. She’s pivotal to all 5 episodes."
Exciting, I'll look forward to what's in store for Kara during CoIE.
IMHO if the main plot of this year is the fight for Lena's soul, then I doubt if SuperGirl and characters from S1 to S4 will die out or change in character. ...not if Lena and her technology is the main theme for this season as the relationships would have to stay the same to have a story.
"Some have already biased their outlook on this next season, and in the end they may have already set themselves up for a fall."

The show, the associated decisions within it, the continual tinkering and end product tend to do that to people. Expectations get raised, then dashed, raised and then dashed again. Repeatedly.
As you said, it's best to take a wait and see approach. It might work, and then again, it might turn out to be a flop. I dunno if you'd wish to sanely and realistically place wagers which way things will go.

Helen playing Supergirl (or maybe it should be Superwoman now) in CoIE would be the best news ever, you wouldn't wipe the smile of my face for days if that was announced. Can you imagine how amazing it would be if Helen and Melissa could share scenes playing alternative earth versions of Supergirl.
Just recently Helen was asked about playing Supergirl again, listen to her response at 09:45 of the attached video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOaLi5BlQ44 .

Hey, the writers have done far more cringeworthy things over the past 4 seasons, and as with the previous crossovers and their massive flaws, anything's possible.
If they could do the mind-wipe thing with Alex in S4 and get away with it, they can certainly do something similar across the board with CoIE. Admittedly, it wouldn't make sense within the Supergirl or other shows individually, but at this point, nothing makes cohesive storytelling sense. This is what happens when you put everything into a blender and see what the end result is.
Mind you, everything's speculation until it's shown on screen. Then we'll know the aftermath and possible directions said shows may go in.
