This is just a guess but will the mid season finale be on 4th Dec before a lot of shows go on the Xmas break? Also will that be the time of the crossover?

Looks to me like Supergirl could have the same episode count as Flash and Arrow. Was it ever mentioned how many episodes we're going to get this season for Supergirl?

To my knowledge we have not been given episode orders for any of the DCTV shows. I’m hopeful for 23 episodes. Two things point to 23 this season. One the earlier start allowed the first episode to be filmed before SDCC where as S2 started filming directly after SDCC. We’re getting nine straight before winter break and that’s never happened before. The only thing that could possibly point to 22 is the Winter Olympics. For our on US based members the Olympics are popular enough in the US that networks stop showing new episodes.

Well frankly I do not watch the Olympics regardless of Winter or Summer. And according to the Billboard from 2016, the numbers for NBC which airs the games on itself and its networks like USA, Bravo, CNBC, MSNBC, NBC Sports Network and Telemundo (Spanish), the numbers were down from the 2012 London games. CNN reports that's because of more people streaming coverage.

With the Olympics it is going to be kind of a weird thing....I'm not sure if the hiatus will only be for maybe through Christmas and they begin the 2nd Monday in January for a few episodes, and then break again for the Olympics? Not sure how that is all going to work. They should be filming 10 right now by my estimation. Which means they could have all the way to possibly 13 or so by Christmas...and of course they would be filming while the Olympics are going on....so maybe a few episodes in January.

I have a feeling we will end up with the 22 like last year. Which is fine, 64 at the end of this season is more than enough to push the 4th season button for the coveted 80+ syndication and then onward to #100 in a 5th season....So, 22 or 23 this season is fine.

The Olympics are in Feb, which is during sweeps month. While the CW doesnt use ratings for renewals, ratings are important for ad revenue and the CW doesnt really have alternative programming to offer up. If other networks hide from the Olympics, it might actually be a slight boon for the CW which is already very much a niche demo market and probably would have minimal effect on their programming. For example, the people that watch the flash wont watch figure skating over the Flash.
