Previously there was a post about whether the writers should be replaced. Imagine they were. Imagine YOU can write instead.

So this is just a bit of a curiosity exercise but how would we here patch up the plot if given the chance?

There's 2 options for this little game:
1. Imagine Season 3 had just finished and come up with a plot for S4 from scratch. You can determine your own arcs and villains etc.
2. Season 4 so far has happened the way it did. Picking up from the last episode (All about Eve), how would you plan the rest the season?

Supergirl kicking major arse EVERY EPISODE, and the Red Daughter storyline front and center the entire season.

Looking at the episode with Lex Luthor and Red Daughter, I'd use that episode as the guide to the 4th Season that should have been.

Yep, along with this last episode would have definitely made for a much stronger 4th season.

The main problems with this season have been "balance" and "purpose".

Personally, I think they actually did a lot of things right early in the season. Agent Liberty was kind of cool in the beginning. I liked that they gave him a credible backstory and showed how he turned to radicalism. I liked Manchester as the radical opposite of Agent Liberty. I liked the slowly growing darkness coming over the city as hope turned into fear and hatred. And I liked the Red Daughter bits showing the potential future threat.

The big problem was with the mid-season:

Agent Liberty turned kind of wishy-washy and the Children of Liberty never seemed to evolve past a gang of thugs. Showing them evolve into a more of a national movement and AL as a kind of Hitler style leader would have been more threatening.

Manchester's story carried on for too long, his death was kind of lame, and he didn't maximize his impact in the end. He should have succeeded in carrying out a big terror attack of some kind which caused even the regular citizens to start agreeing with AL and demanding justice.

Supergirl never got a lot to do, and when she did she frequently had to be helped/saved. PLEASE let her do more a$$ kicking, making hard choices, and generally being a hero. If she's not going to have much screen time at least let it be impactful. I'd even be ok throwing in some villains of the week here to give Supergirl more to do, fill time, and help tighten up the main plots.

J'onn's story was kind of a mess. J'onn J'onzz PI was dropped too soon, his thing with Manchester felt awkward/forced, and yet again (like with the white martian sickness) it seems like he's going to end up back being the same person again that he was previously. Seriously, what was the whole point then? We don't know how the season will conclude yet, but they really need to show him becoming a newer/better/stronger (or at least different) person...err... martian.

Dreamer is ok, and I like the actress, but I'm not sure what her purpose is or relevance to the plot, other than being the first trans character. Based on the last episode I guess she's there to help bridge the divide between humans and aliens. However, shouldn't that be Supergirl's job? Why is she in the season again?

Red daughter, the character we were most interested in seeing this season was mostly MIA. There should have been more end of episode scenes showing her as a building danger.

Fortunately, the end of the season has gotten better. FINALLY, the show has an intelligent and genuinely threatening Big Bad in Lex Luthor. I hope he keeps raising the stakes leading the season has a climactic and satisfying conclusion. However, with only three episodes to go I'm getting a bit worried, especially with them introducing this Super James sub-plot so late in the season. I want more Red Daughter, I want Alex to get her memories back, and I want Lex to enact his master plan (like become President and start a war or something) and have a continued presence next season. He's too good of a villain to limit to just a few episodes. And for the love of God, please don't let James or Dreamer save the day. Let Kara/Supergirl make the hard choice.
Imra: "What about Tommy and Gina? 'You live for the fight when it's all that you've got!'"

Mon El: "Bon Jovi."

Imra: "Or was that all a lie?"

Mon El: "No. He speaks the truth."
