I speculate he will no longer be Kara's romantic interest. Sad, they were a good match, and I'd hate for this to turn into Arrow where a romance develops every season until no one cares.

I don't know if Mon-El is going to stay a while but I suspect there's be at least a short arc. My main concern is I don't want the Legion arc to impede the main arc, and I hope Mon-El doesn't end up purposeless like James.

He was one of my favourite characters from Season 2, one of the reasons being he was damned hilarious. I think he'll be a lot more grim and less funny now though.

What role in the show do you people think he is now suited to?

I think it'd be Mon El's turn to teach Kara some things. He is more experienced now as a hero and probably knows more about the universe and has endured some pain (though she still knows more about loss).

I'd be very interested in their dynamic no matter what. However, it would be sad if we get no lighter moments with him. (I mean, those were the only reason I liked him; because I didn't like the romance much).

I don’t like to speak in terms of endgame in relation to relationships. As much as I hope for permanence it is just not the mindset these writers work on.

I think a thing all shippers should realise is that the show is not about any particular ship. Both KM and SC and whatever like to make the show about their ship. Of course KM was right for a while and SC never was and never will be, but both are still using the wrong mindset.

Try watching the show for the show, and not the ship, and you and the whole fandom will feel much better.

I like what you said, SSAV.... About its time for him to teach Kara a thing or two.

Honestly? Thinking about it, I think Kara would be ok if he's with Saturn Girl. After her stating what her REAL fear was--that she put him in that tiny pod to die--I think, in the end, she'd be ok and just happy he's happy... AND alive. And, then there's also her pretty big announcement to Eliza that she's realized she can't afford to be in a relationship.

I DO like Mon-El...but don't want to go backwards in the story. And, I feel we HAVE moved forward. Sooo....

Yes of course. I was thinking more along the line of themes rather than actual events. So, actual event would be they came back to stop reign or Worldkillers or something, but thematically, he will help bring her closure while also supporting and teaching her.

I'm neither here nor there with Mon-El. If his presence adds to the story of Kara/Supergirl, then he serves a purpose. If he just becomes another character and he takes time away from her story, then I would rather not see him stay. I definitely hope that he and Kara do not become an item again. I got the impression in an interview that Melissa did, that she would be moving past that stage in her life so, like SSAV and evrafter mentioned, I don't wish to see her take steps backward in that aspect.

Going to be a great time to see Chris Wood apply his full range of talents in serious acting though, not just being a meme like in Season 2

Mon-El is likely to return with not only more experience but also foreknowledge of things to come. And quite possibly what Kara will become and how important she will be to the future. He may feel that his presence in Kara's present is an accident and might be wary of any influence he could have on Kara, as it could divert her from what she will become.

So he might actually be a bit standoffish with her. Its possible he tells Kara that he is married to Imra simply to force Kara to move on. I am think this season he will be more an ally and a friend than a love interest.

I think it will be his role to work with the Legion. From the spoilers for the season we know he's going with Saturn girl and will be married to her when he comes back. Also the Legion came back to the past for a reason.

My guess is that reason is that since they are from the future, they know what Reign becomes. And that they are trying to put her down before she becomes a threat.

Yes. Chris is so much more than S2 Mon el. He is a lot like Melissa. Has a great range, tons of screen charisma and serious acting chops. I hope they make use of his talents. I am so looking forward to 'Wake Up'. Plus it looks like a intense emotional journey for both Kara and Mon.

I'm so looking forward to Mon EL ver 2.0. If we can have Jimmy ver 3.0.8.5.7.9, we can have a new Mon.

He is growing a new beard just to fool Kara that he is a grown up ....

Exactly, like she thinks Sam can be saved, but Mon El may be there to try to teach her she can't save everyone. I do think the future that they come from is where Kara died and Reign won. Also the Saturn Girl/Mon El thing will show that he moved on, and that Kara should too. But he's willing to still be her friend maybe? Although possibly having different philosophies about the Reign threat.

For the Mon-el/Kara to be able to move on from their relationship , it has to be told real well and to be authentic. There would be some form of backtracking or attempts of it. Otherwise it would juvenile storytelling if they simply both jump to nonchallance.

If anyone here follows David H on Instagram, Chris Wood is seen in DEO garb today.

This would make a terrific story. That Mon, in the future has learned that Kara is much bigger than their relationship. In a way, it would be kinda like an shout out to the backlash to their relationship in a very clever way. Now I want this to happen, so if I'm disappointed, it will by your fault Rschick. LOL.

From the recent promo though, I'm totally getting Jake from Containment vibes. I loved Chris' character on that.
