what is your honest opinion of DCEU having super gilr movie in work's. and which female director would like to see direct the movie. if they do make it.

I don't think that it is a sound approach to hire someone based solely on being a member of a specific subgroup. I want to see the movie be successful, so my hope is that they choose a person who has the talent to showcase Supergirl on the big screen. That said, as I mentioned in the News Feed, I think that Patty Jenkins fits that bill as she has already proven that she has that talent. But, there could be others that I am not familiar with who could do the job, too.

I'm probably in the minority but, I really do not want to see a Supergirl/Superman movie, at this time. I know that he is part of her origin story and I wouldn't mind an appearance early on to set the scene with Supergirl's story but, I want it to primarily to feature her and cement her presence as a hero on her own in the movie world. Later on, a movie that has multiple superheroes in it, including Superman and Supergirl, would be cool though.

maybe Lexi Alexander or Patty Jenkins.

Lets not forget this is DC we are talking about, and "DC could screw up a two car funeral" as my old mother would say. There is no producer or director attached so at this point the project's odds are about fifty fifty....

Found this little interesting Forbes op-ed piece about the DCEU possibility of a Supergirl film coming to fruition. It's an interesting little read.

First it’s way premature to speculate. There are so many things that go for treatment that never go any further. It’s fun to think about but until cameras start rolling there’s not much to say. Second why wouldn’t people be honest in the news feed.

Since a Supergirl movie has been rumoured for about five years, it would be nice to see something come to fruition. The last big screen iteration of the character was in 1984, that's over 30 years ago. The time is now.

As for the female director, it's not excessively important that the director be female but the person must have a good grasp of storytelling, understand the female perspective well and be willing to be inclusive in the film's casting and artistic choices. If it winds up being a WB/DC boys club type of cabal that produces the film (like Supergirl 1984), it will not be reflective of social and demographic changes and will not attract the desired audience and may suffer the same fate as the 1984 film.


Provided the script is air-tight, the story is cohesive, technically accurate and believable (in a suspension of disbelief type of way), then it has a chance of going somewhere. If it caters to one particular fan base or "ship", then it will fizzle and fade quickly. Also, if it treats the character as a bratty, cheerleader-esque 16-year-old, then it will be laughed off the stage.
