Some further baby news. Congrats to Jeremy Jordan and his wife Ashley Spencer on the arrival of a baby daughter. :)

Congrats JMJ (my nickname for Jeremy)! And to have it happen on Easter Sunday, the day when Catholics celebrate a rebirth, a new life comes into the world...Best Easter gift ever I must say.

Kiwi, you met Katie? In New Zealand? Or, in Ireland or US? Great to know it went well. I have always got the impression that Katie (and the rest of the cast) are all very kind human beings. May have their flaws (as each of us has) but pretty decent people all the same.

I did, it was at a Pop Culture Expo here in New Zealand last June, i didn't have to travel far as the Arena it was held at is only 5 minutes drive from my home. I got to meet both Katie and Mehcad, shake their hands, get their autograph (Mehcad signed my S1 Blu-Ray cover and Katie my S2 Blu-Ray cover) and thank them for coming (Mehcad was in London the weekend before and Katie was in Paris the weekend after so both travelled the globe meeting fans). Mehcad was giving people (including myself) a CD of his music which was kind and Katie had a great smile. It was a positive experience meeting them both.

I just wanted to clarify (as I may have given the wrong impression before) that I agree actors don't have much if any influence on their characters just that it was possibly a small part of the story in this case with Katie. Lena knowing Kara is Supergirl is not really something that occupies much of my thought time about the show, I'm quite content with the way things are currently.

She’s also in no hurry for Lena to find out her friend Kara is Supergirl and is happy Lena is the person Kara doesn’t have to be a hero around.

Good for Katie, she's been consistent on that idea since she's been on the show and I think the writers may have followed suit as it hasn't been touched on much in Season 4. I admit to having a little soft spot for Katie after getting the opportunity to meet her in person last year where she was super nice and warm towards everyone. So I'm happy to go along with Katie and would be totally OK if Lena never finds out Kara is Supergirl.
It could be a bit of the writers following Katie but IMO it’s probably just that TPTB happen to agree at this time. The wardrobe department is definitely working closely with Katie when it comes to Lena’s fabulous clothes. That’s entirely different than an actor having influence on their characters storyline. The writers will throw in nods the actors but traditionally unless they’re also a producer actors have little to no say in the writing and what happens with their character. They can certainly give their opinion but TPTB don’t have to use it. That being said I’d definitely rather have TPTB listening to the cast over the fans any day.

It may also be the complete opposite. Katie may be giving that reason time and again because people keep asking her about it, and she doesn't really have any other thing to offer. And, this is probably what the EPs have told her.

Since Katie mentioned in one of these recent interviews that she is happy Alex doesn't know Kara is Supergirl anymore and that helps because she is no longer the only person in the room who for whatever reason doesn't know about Supergirl's identity, I doubt Katie herself completely buys into the idea that Kara is better off not having her best friend or her sister (or anyone) not knowing about her identity.

Again, being gay, I'd compare it to being closeted. It is stressful and not good for your long term mental health.

Kara doesn't stop being a hero or protective when she is with Lena (or, now with Alex). She just has to hide that when she does it. That may be good comedy, but very stressful in reality. I am sure it is also somewhat stressful for spies, diplomats, undercover cops etc. to live life like that. They don't do it because it pleases them. They do it because it is their job or it'd jeopardise people whom them love. That reason that Kara gives is a more reasonable option in my opinion; even though unless the glasses are magical, how it works for Kara is beyond me. :D

(It may have started out as standard trust thing, but then evolved into a security issue later. Also, the longer you keep something like that from someone, the harder it is to tell them. So, there would be a complex set of emotional and practical incentives for Kara not to tell Lena about her identity. I doubt, less stress because she doesn't have to be a hero is one of them.)

Brierrose, to reiterate, I agree with you that the cast is among the lowest in the totempole and is unlikely to have any power over key directions in the storyline (Lena not knowing about Kara is a key one). They may check with the actors for some bits and pieces that do not affect the overall story or theme, (like Mehcad's experience with racism or Nicole's with being a transwoman) but it is very unlikely that any key decisions are based on actor's preferences.

Here’s a couple of interviews with Katie. She was nervous doing her scenes with Jon Cryer because Lex has always been an unseen influence on Lena so it was a big deal for the character to actually interact with him and she didn’t want screw it up. I think she nailed it. She’s also in no hurry for Lena to find out her friend Kara is Supergirl and is happy Lena is the person Kara doesn’t have to be a hero around. Edit: found one more interview with TVLine apparently Brenda Strong has a naughty sense of humor.

Here's a forthcoming book series that I'll definitely be getting for a read. First book releases August 13, I wonder if the others will be released before The CW Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover screens.

"It’s the crossover event fans have been waiting for, as The Flash joins forces with Green Arrow!

When the Green Arrow needs help tracking down a sinister bomber in Star City, speedster Barry Allen is out the door in a flash. But as The Flash saves the day with his friends on Team Arrow, a huge dimensional rift appears over his hometown of Central City—and thousands of refugees with superspeed come pouring out. Can the combined skills of Team Arrow and The Flash’s friends at S.T.A.R. Labs manage the chaos long enough to stop the rift from tearing their universe apart? This exciting first installment in the new crossover trilogy promises to be one of the most action-packed reads of the season. Supergirl, Superman, and the heroes from DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will be joining in on the fun in books two and three of this can’t-miss trilogy. "

Many people (including Supergirl cast members) wish Batman a Happy 80th Birthday :).

Nice way to start the montage with the casts, beginning with Supergirl...anyone notice Katie and Melissa? Those two nerds...how cute are they?

And...even Ruby Rose...BATWOMAN got in.

Too bad Adam West isn't around anymore.

But anyway...HOLY BIRTHDAY CAKE!
