Why does Earth X Supergirl wear a mask & how will they stop her?

While I can't speak to the plot portion of the mask, I can say that having the anti-heroes wearing a mask allows for the actors to fight their doppelgangers, with a lot more ease.

I had wondered that when I saw a particular picture that was floating around in "places." I had wondered it Melissa was underneath, but realized no. I would assume in any shots where we see the doppelgangers de-mask, the actors will be underneath. OMG...I'm so stoked for the crossover now, after seeing some of the BTS.

Earth-X Kara, after turning evil, had a climactic duel with her former mentor near a lava lake. She was the chosen one, supposed to destroy the Nazis, not join them.

Alas, her former friend had the high ground, and she overestimated her power.

So now the mask hides horrific burns and gives her a really cool voice.

But seriously, for like 2.3.seconds I was thinking, "So crap! we AREN'T gonna get to see Mel in that costume??" lol

I kind of want Kara to be the one who defeats her double, rips off her mask, then does something to render her permanently powerless.

You know what might be even more dramatic? If it was ALEX to do it, especially if Alex was forced to kill the doppleganger.

It's easier during production to limit the actors changing costumes to shoot numerous scenes where the doppelgangers face each other, it'll significantly save time filming and post production towards crossover week. The Green Arrow's Earth-X counterpart is also masked, I heard.

I cannot wait for the crossovers!

According to the promo image, all the dopplegangers are masked. This makes a ton of sense, from a production standpoint.

I'd be down for this...except I'm REALLY sick of Kara having to be saved.

I'm going a little extreme, and using every example I can think of. The only ones that REALLY bother me are where Alex or the DEO chase away a supposedly superpowered opponent using regular firearms. The biggest offenders on that front are 1.14, 2.4 and 2.6. But come on. 42 episodes in the first two seasons and Kara had to be saved in 14 of them? Let Kara be her own hero in the crossover. Lord knows she got shafted in last year's crossover.


If they found a way to play it well, emotionally, I guess it would work. I'm just really sick of seeing Kara having to be saved.

Yeah that was really sad they had her wasted in the last crossover by:

1)Getting mind controlled immediately and being pitted against Flash
2.) Being reduced to overkill against a human with cyborg/lightning powers that the Flash could've handled on his own.

I do think that whats going to happen for Kara to realize her counterpart can't be saved is if she physically sees Overgirl killing people.

They've got four hours so I'm hoping for multiple fight scenes between our heroes and thier evil selves. As far as how the doppelgängers are defeated I can see the heroes having multiple plans starting with talking to them and escalating to ok we have no choice we have to kill them. Kara could very well be the last one on board with killing them although I can also see Barry being the holdout. Something like Overgirl hurting or nearly killing Alex would convince Kara there's no alternative. To be honest I don't think Kara can say she's never killed anymore, she killed Rhea and currently thinks she may have killed Mon-El too. Barry and probably some of the Legends are the only heroes with no blood on their hands.

If the evil Nazi doppelgängers are killed then I think each hero should have to be the one to do it. Kara's a big Superhero now and she shouldn't need her big sister to do something for her just because she doesn't want to. Alex can certainly help but if Overgirl must be killed Kara needs to be the one to do it. I'd actually be disappointed if all the heroes except Kara kill thier doppelgängers.

Yeah, I think also killing of innocents would be a big no no for Kara. I think though that for her to be convinced, she'd have to see Overgirl killing people without her mask on too... I could see a repeat of Supes vs Zod in MoS, maybe SG forced to kill Overgirl that way, etc.

Depends on how they tell the story I think.

Would it have a more long term effect on Kara if Alex kills Overgirl or if she kills her doppleganger?

Anyways, I'd be sad if there is no effect on any of them at all and the entire crossover is pushed under the rug after the fact. I mean, this could be a significant epoch in Kara's acceptance of humanity. Her seeing how being all about Kryptonian and ignoring her human emotions could turn her into a hard eugenicist who has no compassion for the week and no love for strengths that are not visible. It is almost the perfect crossover for this season, and if it is not used that way, that would be a waste in my opinion.
