The Supergirl - Sanvers LGBTQ fandom - elle.com article

I thought it was a lovely article. It's a good reminder, if we needed one, how special Supergirl is. How many TV shows can positively influence lives like that? The writers and producers have taken what might have been a gimmick or a token story and treated it with sensitivity and class.

It starts with the writing, but the story needed good acting to carry it off. Chyler Leigh's acting in this whole story has been phenomenal and completely realistic. She's a class act. I was impressed with Melissa's acting in "Falling" as well as other episodes, but Chyler's acting is just as strong. I'm a little embarrassed that it took me this long to see it. Everyone else here saw it before I did!

As a viewer I feel the current amount of Sanvers is alright to watch, but increased drama becomes distracting and unnesessary (I would feel the same about a straight romance like that, I've never enjoyed the Olicity drama). If there really was a whole episode about those two I don't know if I can sit through it, just like if there was a whole episode about Guardian.

As a political person I am thrilled that the Sanvers arc on Supergirl has made a very positive impact on LGBT viewers and understanding. If such amazing progress is made at the cost of me enjoying the show slightly less, I'd take it with no complaints.

In my comment, I am ONLY talking of those few that felt betrayed by the PTB. That has absolutely nothing to do with their opinions on anything in general, it simply has to do with that 1 particular episode, and that particular article. Nothing more, nothing less.

Hmm... Okay. The post was about LGBTQ (I didn't see the article), and your comment was about "they" with no qualifiers, so I read it as applying to the whole.

Well, according to Twitter they feel they've been lied to by the PTB.... apparently they felt they were promised a #Sanvers centered episode. Dang it, it was Kara centered. *shakes head*

I'd recommend not brushing a whole community with that brush. The few on twitter are not representative. Not all of us ship Sanvers (or Kara-Lena), and not all Sanvers fans expect a show named Supergirl with a straight woman as its centre to focus on her sister's gay relationship.

As many as straight people go the other way and behave in an extreme manner, which is rarely mentioned in any of these forums, as do some of the LGBT. Sexual orientation doesn't determine character. (However, it does appear to me, more generalising and stereotyping happens when it's one of them who makes a mistake or behaves badly... when it is some straight teen boys or men in twenties, it is #notallmen. When, it is a few gay women/girls on twitter, it is "they" as in all of them.).

Besides, at least some of these folks could be kids. And, I believe kids (teens and even may be early twenties) seem to have a different idea about the world compared to people with more experience. (I am not being ageist. But, I think brains and outlook commonly expands as we grow older; not for all of them though; some teens have a more open look than many folks way older. ).
