Does anyone remember this one from Action comics #291 ?
Mr. Mxyzptlk (pronounced Mix-Yez-pit-lick) arrives from the fifth dimension and wreaks havoc on Supergirl unless she agrees to marry him.
To prove his sincerity, he materializes Supergirl's dead parents!

I'm curious to see where they might go with this story since in the TV show her parents are (supposedly) dead, but in the comics they survived the destruction of Argo City by entering the "Survival Zone".
Any thoughts?

I wouldn't put it past the writers and EPs. It might happen, then again, it might not. We'll have to continue to watch and wait and see. ;)

Well a story from August 1962 gets a little rehash this Monday. And to put things in a little rock and roll perspective, according to Billboard.com there were three #1 songs in August of '62

For the week of 8/4/62 it was Roses are Red by "The Polish Prince" Bobby Vinton (Maybe Mxy was thinking that)

For the weeks of 8/11/62 and 8/18/62 it was a song perhaps Kara was thinking about..Neil Sedaka's "Breaking Up is Hard to Do."

For 8/25/62, it's a one hit wonder by Little Eva; "The Loco-Motion." A song that would hit #1 (US) again, in 1974 by Grand Funk Railroad and get as high #3 in 1987 by Kylie Minogue. That song was co-written by Carole King, who would gain fame as a singer with her Tapestry Album in 1971.

It just occurred to me today that the Mxyzptlk might have been inspired by the spelling of some Polish last names. It would explain the lack of vowels.

Or Czech last names..... The character of Mxy was inspired by Bugs Bunny's antics. The DC Comics folks wanted to have someone who would constantly annoy Superman the way that Bugs annoyed Elmer Fudd!

I think the operative word is "supposedly". Zor-EL and Alura may in fact be very much alive and out there somewhere (in something like the "Survival Zone" ).
Yes, Romulus, we'll have to wait and see!
