Been thinking like anyone would do after a big finale like this. If showrunners are looking to do an alternate troubled version of Supergirl, why not Red Lantern Supergirl. Red Son is a Superman story. But if they go that way maybe they could merge the storyline. Red Son Kara could be so angry that she gets a Red Lantern ring. Then you have Red Son Supergirl with a Red Lantern Ribg versus Supergirl with a Legion Ring. That is a showdown I’d watch!
You will give the people of Earth an ideal to strive towards. They will race behind you, they will stumble, they will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun, Kal. In time, you will help them accomplish wonders.
Here’s an interview Melissa did with Deadline . One noteworthy thing she said is she thinks the main premise of what the writers are going for is that fear itself is a villain, and can hope conquer it. I agree with that, as we found out with Psi fear is a powerful emotion that can cause people to do things they otherwise wouldn’t. In season one I think Max Lord’s main motivation was fear of aliens especially ones with great powers like Kryptonians.
As humans I think on some primal level we fear those who are different from us and what we perceive as “normal”. It served a purpose as a survival mechanism for our ancient ancestors but in our time has become the source of many problems.

I also am tired of Alex's new look, she always looks wet to me.
Put in on my list of "Yet, ANOTHER Reason I Miss Season 1": Alex's hair.

I'm one who would be okay with Kara getting a new suit but, if this is what they've come up with as an upgrade then, no. Stick with the original. This combination NFL/Robocop/PowerRanger suit is ridiculous.
If it's a nature vs. nurture concept, I don't know that the Russian Kara would even have a personality as there is a debate that personality may be developed through environment, too. If a blank slate is what Queller stated, then my prediction is that this Kara is equivalent to a newborn and that the plan is for the show to use the two Kara's to depict the difference in attitude, beliefs, approach and personality of a person who is imprinted by an rigid, authoritarian type environment and one that has been raised in a more open, democratic type environment. Kind of like a twin-study in psychology.Ok. So. Question....Good questions to which we don't have answers. I do think the Russian Kara is due to the haron el not time travel because we saw the smoke both when our Kara touched the haron el and when the second Kara appears. I'm trying to find a source but I seem to remember reading somewhere that Jessica Queller used the term "blank slate Kara". Total speculation but what if the second Kara is a clone created when our Kara touched the haron el and she has our Kara's core personality but no memories. Kinda like someone with severe amnesia.
If they're going with Red Son/Red Daughter and nature vs. nurture... how's that concept gonna work? Wasn't she created when Supergirl, Reign, and Sam all touched the Hara Nel (spelling??) at the same time; and thus, the new Kara is already grown up and didn't actually grow up in Russia? Would it possibly mean the Hara Nel didn't split Kara or create a new Kara, but simply brought the new Kara from a different earth? Or... could this have actually happened from Kara's time travel?

Uhhh... By the way it appears the actor/stunt team member is standing and/or moving in the suit?.... I'm predicting Kara isn't actually getting a new suit... It's a robot.

I'm with Zoya on Brainiac's swing and miss. I think it might look better if they'd just tweak his hair. Saw a BTS picture of him where his hair style was more like his typical hair--more "unkempt" or more of a wind blown look. Just that change alone helped enormously.
Like Brierrose, I would have loved a few tweaks to Reign. The bottom half always reminded me of black dance pants on little girls. Maybe some more Arrow/Flash-esque leather parts added in, and less spandex.
But loved Superman, loved Overgirl, really like Alex's new suit (but her season 4 slick back dew has gots to go), Supergirl's suit is iconic, but I'm open for her getting a few suit additions (but, maintaining the ability to switch back to original), Lena needs some lab coats, and stoked to see Manchester Black. Hope he has the Union Jack incorporated in somehow.

Of course it’s not Melissa in that suit. But the doubles have thier own skirted suits that are just like Melissa’s and they don’t normally put them in special suits for stunts. I believe there’s going to be a story behind that suit besides being a convenient way to film without Melissa.

It might be Kara but it is not Original Melissa cuz she ain't filming yet, so that's what I meant by it being maybe a stunt performer or cheap version of the suit for the stand in...I like Supergirl and Superman's suit, the rest were underwhelming, and did not like Mon-el's version, too puffy and his cap was oversized to the point it was distracting whenever he tried to walk (you could see the actor leaning far over like it made him off balance?). Don't get me started on Brainiac the Maniac's getup.
What the what! So I guess I was wrong because it appears to be our Kara in that suit. I can't wait to find out the story behind it.
I disagree that the show doesn't have a good track record when it comes to costumes. Kara's skirted suit is always highly rated among TV supersuits. Tyler's Superman suit was well received. Of the many complaints about Martian Manhunter his suit is not one of them. Mon-El's caped suit was great. I know some were disappointed in Saturn Girl and Brainy's Legion suits but I thought they were fine. I suspect the reason Mon-El had a more "comic accurate" suite while the others didn't is he was originally going to get his suit in season two, Chris Wood alluded to this, so they were able to pull that one out of wardrobe. I would have made one adjustment to Odette's Reign suit but Purity and Pestilence's suits rocked. I'll admit Cyborg Superman was a rare miss.

I think that suit is for the stunty only so they can get the crowd shots, the other cast shots etc and Melissa will film when she is available, maybe they superimpose her over that suit in a better costume? that looks like a dirtbike uniform so maybe it has a specific purpose on that scene.
Let's face it, this show does not have a good track record when it comes to costuming

Well, I'll be the first to admit that I'm not as tuned in as many here, but regardless of what may be floating around on social media etc, I'm just not buying that the producers would suit up Melissa in that atrocity. Yuck!
When I took a closer look, there seems to be areas that perhaps get enhanced by CGI?

Welp... Getting a better look at the new suit today. Makes me now think of Winn's device he made for Supergirl and Superman to fight Metallo--to combat the Kryptonite. Also, I guess we now know it is a suite for our Kara.
Anndd... Is that Manchestor Black? Possibly going to be an antihero?? Either way, he's one of the characters I'm most excited for this season.

A blank slate would make more sense. And thinking more about the interviews, a few of them mentioned it would be more of a slow burn type storyline. So, going on what you said, Brierrose, and with the idea that we won't see much of her story right away, maybe they're going to include her being... "programmed" for lack of a better term.
I think I was just wondering how the nature vs nurture idea would work--being I think of n vs n as a child development term, and she's definitely not starting as a child, as far as we saw. Thus, the only reason I questioned if it was tied to time travel some how. However it turns out, I'm excited to watch it unfold. Even more excited to see Melissa tackle it. Toss Alex into the mix...cool.

@thedr787 - Welcome! It's nice to have another member join our club .
Didn't Winn even say if Kara went through the disruption it would kill her? So I thought the original Supergirl died when she time traveled. I could be way off but i don't expect it to really even be mentioned next season.I remember Winn saying that but, nothing was mentioned about it after. I'm not sure that Kara died when she traveled - if she did, how would the Kara in the past know that she needed to change her actions and what exactly she needed to do? You're probably right and it won't be mentioned but, it would be nice if they did. They have all summer to come up with something, lol. Good catch on the black smoke.
Just saw this this morning. Made me chuckle out loud...That is hilarious!
Thanks Sully!
That's a good point about how Kara would know she needed to change things. It was odd because it was like the Kara that time traveled took over/woke up in pastKara's body. That's why I thought original Kara died. Hopefully they do provide an explanation because time travel is confusing lol

I have to say, I am so excited for next season. I can't wait to see what happens with the two Kara's. I've definitely had some issues with the show these past 2 seasons but I willing to forgive it all if season 4 is going to be as good as they are setting it up to be. The focus back on Supergirl?
BTW, I've been reading the site for a long time but this is my first time commenting so hello everyone
Hi thedr787, on behalf of the regulars here welcome to the site and thanks for your first time comment.
The focus being back on Kara/Supergirl (which I think it will be with more Catco scenes and her continuing work as Supergirl with the D.E.O. (especially with Alex as Director)) and this alternate/duplicate/Siberian Kara meaning more of the joys of watching Melissa Benoist definitely has me excited for Season 4.
Hi Kiwi, thanks for the welcome! I totally agree about Melissa Benoist. I can't wait to see what she does with this new version of Kara and how she'll be different from overgirl and red k Kara. I'm curious if she'll be full on evil or if she just has different morals. It may depend if she has any of Kara's memories from before the split.. There are a lot of different ways this could go so hopefully we get more info at SDCC.

With all respect, Superman did not spin the world backwards. He is going back in time, so the position of the earth is visible at earlier and earlier times, meaning the rotation direction as seen by superman reverses.
Here's the shot of which I was thinking. Ever since I was 7, it always appeared he changed the actual rotation direction of the earth. Just cheesy 1978 movie effects. But, as seen in this clip, the special effects department stops the rotation, then switched it. lol It's funny how ground breaking it appeared back then. I wonder how much my 7 yr old brain would explode should it have been introduced to Jurassic Park Fallen Kingdom's special effects in 3D Imax like I saw last night.

They can't really do "Red Son," because the Soviet Union had collapsed before Kara landed. Alt-Supergirl can be a Putin fan, but I can't see her being a Communist.
