This is kind of off topic Stew, but in your fan fictions, you have Kara playing guitar in a band known for playing surf music. I assume The Ventures (Walk, Don't Run and Hawaii Five O), from TACOMA, WASHINGTON (to get in good with the Admin) was one of the inspirations.

Well it's my sad duty to say Nokie Edwards, the group's lead guitarist, has gone to rock and roll heaven at age 82. This is from their official website.

Yes, I was saddened to hear of Nokie Edwards' passing
The Ventures were always one of my favorite bands. Along with their big hits "Walk Don't Run" and "Hawaii Five-O", "Perfidia", "Lullaby Of the Leaves", and "Diamond Head" are among my favorites.
I figured that since National City is in Southern California, Kara might very well gravitate towards the indigenous surf-music sound (especially if she already knew a band that played it). Besides, it sounds like the sort of music I would expect Kara to like!
