It's been pointed out that discussion of theories or speculation of plot development for the show may be a bit of a spoiler for some viewers. So, this thread is being created as a place for those who wish to dissect the issues, predict the future and solve the world's problems (or at least those created in Supergirl's world).

WARNING: The content of this thread could contain information that may or may not be part of a plot that may or may not happen in the Supergirl show. Read at your own risk of Supergirl spoilage.

As a start: One theory that has been thrown out among those on social media and on this site is if Alura knew of Reign's existence prior to Krypton blowing up and created a mechanism to defeat her and then gave it to Kara in the form of the necklace.

Interesting, just a couple of days ago cbr.com posted an article talking about this very idea (CW’s Supergirl Needs Its Own ‘Reign of the Superwomen’ Event).

Personally I don't want anyone else but our Earth 38 Kara.

I wonder though if the different Supergirl suit Melissa was referring to was her Overgirl costume which she did wear for a reasonable amount of time in the crossover.
Ah, cool! Thanks for the article, Kiwi. I was only 20 off on the number of other Supergirls ;) . I wouldn't want Bizarro, M'gann or any other superheroes to step into that role. IF they went that route, I would rather it be a Supergirl from a different world. The dynamic between her and Alex, J'onn and Winn would be interesting, especially if that Kara/SG was different in personality in some ways. And yes, I prefer our Kara, I was just throwing the idea out there as a possible short-term replacement.

Re: the suit. I did think about Overgirl's suit being different but, I wasn't sure if that was what Melissa was referring to. If she was talking about herself, as in Melissa, wearing a different suit, then yes, that is very possible. But, if she was talking about her character, Supergirl, then perhaps not. That would depend on rather she equated Overgirl with Supergirl.

It’s the Overgirl suit. Here’s exactly what she said “There is a different suit that I will be wearing at some point this season, but I won’t tell you when or to what capacity...It’s cool, though.” She said I, not Kara. The minute I heard about Overgirl I thought that’s what she was talking about. Melissa has made it clear she likes the Supergirl suit as is I doubt we’ll see a change anytime soon.

Yes, I agree - that makes sense.
It would explain why Mon-El did not give the necklace back to Kara. Maybe Kara will discover that later, perhaps in a document or video stored in the Fortress of Solitude.

I do think there is a greater connection between Alura, Kara, and Reign, and I think the necklace is the nodal point to that link. But her dad was the Scientist not her mom, so I think he may be the core to all of this.

Quite plausible ideas here. It would make sense for the writers to go along with this.

So, I've been contemplating an idea ;) - not one that I am by any means sold on but wanted to toss it out there:

In the Crossover, there was a discussion about there being other Supergirls on other Earths. Alex actually questioned the notion of there being more than one Kara out there and I believe that one of the Flash characters stated that there were 38, maybe? Anyway, that got me thinking, was that dialogue a possible set-up for a future episode or was it just a throw-away line.

If it is actually supposed to tie-in to this Season's story, is it possible that while Kara/Supergirl is recovering, perhaps someone makes a trip to another Earth to have one of the other Supergirls come to this Earth and fill in? This would reassure National City that Supergirl was okay, allow our Kara to recover without taking the character out of the show and possibly even pair her up against Reign.

Another reason why I was running this idea through my head was because I seem to recall Melissa stating in an interview that we would see her in a different Supergirl suit for awhile. If a different world Supergirl came, she might actually wear a different suit.

Thoughts?

You might want to put something about major spoilers in the title of the thread....

With all of the story lines about fathers, and the fact that Kara has already faced her mother and the problems she caused on Krypton....we've only seen her touch on her father's work with the Science Guild.....I think Reign will be more of a questioning of Kara father, than Alura. IMO, it would be Kara's father that would have done that.....of course with Alura's knowledge maybe....but this seems to definitely be directed around the Science Guilds more than anything else from Krypton,.

That clears that up! Thanks, Brierrose. I like her current suit also. It's the only one that I was familiar with before I started watching SG. I do like some of the other ones that people have shown but, if Melissa likes this one, then that's what they should stick with ;) . I'm not that invested in it :).
