Lemon_buzz on twitter said that sanvers ends things over having kids. Alex wants them and Maggie doesn't. Obviously this is unconfirmed, but what do you guys think?

I identify a lot with Alex, and I don't want kids, so having her want kids is....not great, IMO. But that's just me.

As much as I do like them together, this is, in a sense, Alex's first real love. Her coming out journey was long, but she is now her authentic self. How many people marry their first love? It would be realistic for Alex to have this first heartbreaking experience before moving on to other loves.

IMO, it would be better if Maggie and Alex have a clean break, as in no chance of getting back together. If they just kinda part ways, or they have a long distance relationship, so that maybe they can get back together would be a tie down to Alex and no chance of other relationships blossoming. I want them to have a full on break up to give Alex a chance with other people.

I think it's stupid. What if they can get Maggie to come back after all, will one of them just change their opinion on kids? They should just have made it something like career or not enough maturity, something that can change naturally over time.

I don't think we've seen anything to indicate that Alex wouldn't want to be a mom. In many ways she did help raise Kara. Eliza and Jeremiah created a safe place for Kara as well as adult support. It was Alex who taught her all the little things that a human teen should know that she didn't, as well as providing a different but critical type of emotional support.

Two people having vastly different desires with regards to being a parent is actually a pretty realistic reason for an amicable break up. Being parents isn't something a couple can compromise on, it's an all or nothing situation. IMO if a couple isn't on the same page with regards to wanting kids at all then as much as they love each other both people have to really consider if it's a deal breaker. It's a fundamental compatibility issue rather than situation where someone's "right" or "wrong".

I agree, but I think that IF MAGGIE IS LEAVING NATIONAL CITY, it really needs to be more than she broke up with her girlfriend. If she is staying, then it is totally a viable, plausible, adult, realistic reason to break up with someone....but I would hope that she would be strong enough to stay and live with that break up rather than leave her career, etc...

Totally agree if, and I believe it's still speculation, this is the is the reason for the break up then Maggie shouldn't just leave town right after. It wouldn't be hard for Maggie to be absent for a long stretch, it's not like she'd be invited to game night. Then during the back half of the season when months have passed Maggie could get a job in another city. A broken engagement combined with a job promotion would be a reason to move. If Flornia is available then Maggie could tell Alex in person that she's leaving town. If not it could simply be mentioned that Maggie got a promotion and moved away. Or If Flornia has more availability then Maggie stays in National City and becomes the teams contact with the police.

Alex pretty much being the one to raise Kara, and how she still mothers her today, I can totally see her wanting kids.

I hope however, that it is more than that that breaks them up.

I see being a big sister and being a mom as very different things.

It happens a lot. My sister pretty much raised me, and yes she's my big sister....but she also helped to raise me. I didn't say she was a "mom" to Kara, simply that her desire, her ability, and her "need" to care for Kara early on and now tells me she has the instinct of a mom, that certainly would grow into wanting children. It's not a black and white issue. Nor is it out of the realm of plausible.
