I love Season 3. If the direction holds, it's coming up to be a very strong and consistent season, with no meaningless side arcs, a threatening and unambiguous villain and all.

Unfortunately, Season 3 being good on it's own won't fully do the trick. Season 2 left some pretty huge problems that require resolution.

1. Cadmus and Jeremiah. I think that's the biggest issue left, and I won't describe it as I think we all know. How will they wrap that up?

2. Guardian. I think 99% on this site agree Guardian was a terrible idea and I think the writers figured too. Unfortunately now James is just left hanging, he actually has no purpose at the moment. Any good ideas for fixing that? A way to end Guardian and transition back to old James without seeming sudden.

3. Winn's girlfriend. Now that's never heard of again and there was a fuss about it.

I agree with
Points 1 and 3, but not so much 2. The one thing I don't like about Earth 38 (Supergirl's earth) is that all the superheroes on it are aliens. There are no human, superpower d or not heroes. I admit it was not written as well as it could have been, but, I liked the James as Guardian subplot.

1a. Cadmus doesn’t need to be wrapped up any time soon. As I’ve said before, they would work well as a long-term multi-season antagonist.
1b. They do need to wrap up the business with Jeremiah, though I’m not sure how they can do that believably without killing him off. I would like to hope they can figure something out short of killing him or locking him up in a DEO cell for the rest of his life.
I’m pretty sure Dean Cain has said that Jeremiah will be back at some point in S3, but for all I know, it could be Midvale flashbacks, rather than present-day.

2. In S3, they have mentioned that James is still Guardianing, though we haven’t actually seen it since S2. Maybe he will realize that Lena wants to force him out of CatCo, and he will start paying more attention to his actual job as CEO of a global multimedia empire. I know some people see sexual tension between James & Lena and talk about “Guardcorp,” but I see it differently.

3. They haven’t mentioned Lyra at all in S3, so she and Winn may still be together. Even if they are, I don’t think she’ll be around long-term. Snapper Carr was written out with a single line of dialogue about him being on sabbatical. They can easily do the same thing with Lyra.

the show changed showrunners mid season last year, so its likely some story lines will simply be dropped. I am liking the current direction of the season and I dont think we need to tie up loose ends the writers are interested in.

They did such a poor job of writing the Guardian last year, I do not believe it can be saved. But, if they still want him fighting crime, they can just mention it here and there and continue writing James as they are writing him this season.

Cadmus could pop up here and there, Lyra doesn't need to be seen or mentioned again. Jeremiah IMO is the only loose end that needs to be tied up. And I would love to see Brenda Strong again....but as far as Guardian and Lyra I don't think any of that needs to be tied up or even mentioned.again. Other than James here and there saying..... "I'll keep an eye for this or that while I'm doing my thing." and if they want at some point for him to get hurt to the point of finally realizing that Kara was right, even though the writers wrote her as being wrong (one of the worst scenes of last season)....then I'd be all for that as a tie up of a loose end.

I agree about Cadmus being a long-term multi-season antagonist. I can envision them always being a thorn in SG's side and becoming stronger each season. Perhaps we might see them integrating more of society's influential institutions, making it difficult for the team to eliminate them while, at the same time, globalizing their threat upon SG.
