So, I debated whether or not I should post it here. But I've been a member of this forum for a couple years, now, and it does feel like our own little community. So I wanted to share some (possibly) great news.

I got the news, yesterday, that I've been accepted to Vancouver Film School. I even got a partial scholarship!

I have to figure out the rest of the funding, and I really hope I can get it sorted. It's a big life change. But there is a distinct possibility I could be in Vancouver by the time they start filming Crisis on Infinite Earths, or even Supergirl's 100th episode!

Forgive me if this isn't on topic enough for our forum. And admins, feel free to delete. But I just had to share, because I'm really excited about the possibility of attending film school and starting a career in the same city where they film ALL of my favorite shows, including the one starring our favorite Girl of Steel!

UPDATE:

I am going in January! With the admin's permission, I am posting a link for a gofundme to help with living expenses.

https://www.gofundme.com/f/kyle039s-going-to-vancouver-film-school?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet

I'm definitely going to be trying to get access to sets and get photos, whenever possible!

Awesome sauce kdogg! Although Vancouver in January can get...interesting weatherwise. But I would like to join all here at the forum is wishing you all the luck at your new school. Who knows, maybe NYU or UCLA could be next as here in the states they are known for their film schools

Awesome news for you kdogg87 and wishing you all the best. I'll help out by giving a donation.

Are you studying a specific part of film-making (e.g. Directing, Writing) or are you covering all of it?.

Certainly hope you get to see some filming of Supergirl out on the streets of Vancouver.

I'm going through their "Film Production" program. It covers pretty much the whole process. Writing, producing, directing, cinematography, scene production. I have the course list, and it's insane. But having that wide scope gives me the best chance of finding work in Vancouver and being able to get a work permit to stay there.

It's a long shot, but the honest goal is to work on an Arrowverse show.

The admin has allowed me to share something.

I have started a gofundme to help with living costs, while I am there, as I will not be able to work, due the intensity of the program.

I hate asking for help, but I have to put my pride aside, because this is an insane life change for me. And obviously, don't feel obligated to donate. I'm just spreading the link wherever I can because every little bit helps.

What I can promise, though, is that any donations will go towards living expenses. And helping ease the financial burden in that area will help free me up to try to visit sets, get photos, and share as much as I can, here, as our "man on the ground".

Thank you, guys! I can't wait to be living and working in the same city as where one of our favorite shows is filmed!

You will give the people of Earth an ideal to strive towards. They will race behind you, they will stumble, they will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun, Kal. In time, you will help them accomplish wonders.

So...adding an update to this! I got all my acceptance materials (added pics to the main post) I did postpone, slightly, but am officially enrolled at Vancouver Film School for January 2020!

It's ALMOST set in stone. This is quite the life changing endeavor, as I won't be able to work during the program. As such, I need to figure out some non-employment based healthcare options, in the US, at least for the first 90 days of my residency. I'm an organ transplant recipient, and one of my medications is super pricey. Sadly, I can't explore plans for next year until probably October or later.

But if I can get that little bit taken care of, then I'm going! The rest of my year is spent saving as much as I can!

I'm hesitant to say "It's definitely happening" until that's sorted. But everything I can do before then is sorted. I'm so excited, guys. I can't really express how much.

And we are excited for you! Congratulations, and good luck sorting out the remaining issues!
